There has been some discussion about eReaders & books in the Commonplace Rarities thread, and I thought I'd start this thread where it can be discussed more thoroughly.

I also started a thread on Katherine Fugate's forum, if anyone is interested in what her members have to say on this topic.

Very interesting article, Joxie.
Interesting too, I thought, was a conversation I had while visiting with my friend yesterday - the one with the e-reader that brought this whole topic up here. She said she read my blog, and seemed really miffed about the whole thing, and got very defensive about e-readers and how it will revolutionalize how people read novels.
She did say though, that there are things that traditional books provide that e-readers can't; adding also that she thinks that paper books will not disappear.
After reading the article, I'm not so sure.

It's my understanding that vinyl albums are making a comeback, so perhaps paper books won't be a thing of the past. I truly hope not. Although I'd be happy to cut down some of the book clutter I have by having most of them in eBook form, I'd still prefer to have my favorite reads in book form. Call me sentimental.

'Mornin', Sentimental.
And you can call me Sentimental too, though most people use my last name, "Fool".

Good article, Joxie. I thought it was interesting that it stated that the over-forties are the crowd most reluctant to give up their books made of paper for ebooks. I think everyone here who put in their two cents worth on the topic is over forty(?) And out of the few that responded to my blog, only one is under forty, but quickly approaching it.

Yeah ... I'm sure the "young'ns" have no qualms about the eReaders, and would prefer them over books pretty much every time.

Since I don't go to book signings, or to author/book conventions, I don't have a problem with not meeting the authors, or getting my books signed. I can see where others might have a problem with it though.
