That sounds like more than a purple owie Spock. It was common practice for people to hire out to farms in the area when I was young – especially during tomato picking season. My brother was working at Seabrook Farms – I don’t remember the whole story but he said he noticed his glove go by snagged by a heavy chain. He looked at his hand and one of the fingers was smaller than it should be, and it was bloody. The chain snapped off the tip of his finger when it took the glove. They couldn’t do anything about putting the tip back so he’s got a finger that terminates right where the cuticle starts. It grows this weird looking vampire fang looking nail. That’s a person who needs psychiatric assistance. For crying out loud! You don’t wear ‘electric blue’ after Christmas! It’s nearly St. Patrick’s Day! You wear foamy beer – and their colors - and/or green! (Really – that person needs time in a home with the special people. He could turn into an ER visitor with a seriously frozen pop-cycle and one heck of a bill for the county to pick up.) We’re hoping for some rain and may get luck this weekend!

We’re hoping for some rain and may get luck this weekend! Hoping for some here as well but not much likelihood of it happening. If the forecasters have got it right we're looking at another five days in the nineties, which will make it nine or ten days on end, and not a drop of rain to be seen. Think Gams neighbours attire would be more appropriate here.

He’d certainly be more comfortable Kat, but I think I’d prefer a/c, and I’m sure my neighbors would be more pleased with that idea than me in a thong in public.

Nah - he's not one to be in the town institution; he is the town institution. Nice guy, actually. Was giving away stuffed animals in his front yard a while back, "free to a good home"...probably making some kind of statement; he's always got a cause. More eccentric than anything....except, possibly underdressed. Oh, and scary-looking too. Picture a tall Riffraff from Rocky Horror Picture Show without the hunch....and picture him in Dr. Frank-n-Furter's wardrobe.
Hope you guys get your much needed rain. Was sunny and beautiful here yesterday. It's supposed to be a rainy weekend, though. i

It is not raining heavily enough, but we got some rain earlier this morning. A light drizzle that came and went. Still, that is better than the nothing we have been getting until now. Hopefully there is more on the way.

We had some sleet yesterday for a while, and it must have rained overnight....enough to go through the plastic wrapper, making the morning paper unreadably soggy.
It's pleasantly warm right now at 44 degrees....although LX contends that only someone from Michigan would call temperatures in the 40s warm. But then again, she's the one who rarely wears a jacket and never wears gloves.

No sleet, but we did get some extra rain. I woke up early this morning to thunder and pounding rain. The rain lasted maybe three minutes but it sounded really great! It was that or rolling over and listening to the rain I fell right back to sleep. Of course everything has dried out again now, but it was nice while it lasted.
From what it looked like, it was anxious to visit with a cold front – and it wanted to meet Phalon too. (Interested in more snow Phalon?)

Of course I am! I'm not quite ready to hang up the skis yet, and this last batch of snow was pretty much unskiable; too wet and sticky. Most of it is gone now, and large patches of grass are showing. Last heard though, we're supposed to get snow tomorrow, Wednesday, and throughout the weekend, so maybe I'll have a chance.
And yay for you for getting some rain!

We had a nice day here – cool morning and a comfortable afternoon. I’m hoping for more! And, you are quite welcome to the snow. Spring has set in here and the trees are setting up fresh new greenery.

Heat, heat followed by, you guessed it, more heat down here.
The longest consecutive period of temperatures in the thirties (90F) for ANY month since they started keeping records.
Currently 33C (92F) heading for a top of 37 (97) .......... oh bliss, oh joy. ;D

Dang, Katina - that is hot! I'd say to make sure you stay cool, but that shouldn't all that difficult for a suave and debonair gentleman like yourself.
It's a cool 33 degrees here this morning. Yesterday where the snow had melted, I noticed some of the daffodils were starting to poke out of the ground. This morning they're covered in a thin layer of ice and snow.

My Great-Uncle snagged his fingernail on a post and he had a nail that was 'fang-like.' It was a dark brown/light brown color blended. It reminded me of the square-like pencil leads in the pencil's Dad used as an iron worker. The lead was wide and fat, and rounded smooth at the tip.
My Great-Uncle used to poke us all in the ribs with it. We always had to get a look at it whenever we saw him. It was probably the first thing we said, even before "Hi."

As kids, we don't think anything about if our actions hurts anyone's feelings. But, the way he liked to poke us with it, I'm sure he liked the attention it got him.

I never knew anyone with a fangnail (but I've had a helluva hangnail recently; I hate those things). When I was in high-school though, I stubbed my big toe pretty badly, and the nail split lengthwise. For years and years, even after I was married, it grew that way - split right down the middle.
I never thought to poke Hubs with it though. Dang! All that fun I missed out on!
We've got a few more inches of snow this morning. Don't want to miss out on that. I'm sure I can think of something fun to do.

Had? Had a split toenail? How did you get it to grow back together? The nail on my right middle finger has been split for about 20 years, and I wish it would grow back together. If I let it grow out it snags on things. *Ouch!* I think we've already had this conversation. I'm getting a 'deja vu' vibe. I'm getting old, so my memory ain't as good as it used to be, and it didn't used to be all that good.

Yeah, yeah. Something about nail polish and tissue? Which I tried a couple of times and then forgot all about shortly thereafter, cause I don't normally wear polish. Or was it fingernail glue? Actually though, the split does seem to have pushed in closer together, and maybe trying to reconnect. Maybe it's just a slow natural process that I'm eager to have over with already.

I don't remember doing anything to my toenail in an effort to get it grow back normally. It just did eventually, and yeah, I think it could have been as long as decades later. Maybe pregnancy hormones? They do all kinds of weird things. I wouldn't recommend it though as a cure-all; the side effects last a lifetime and can get quite expensive. (Ha! Just a joke. I'm sure my kids would appreciate it.)
Now that you mention it, I believe you're right - we've probably already had this conversation. I think the nail polish and tissue thing though, was when I nearly tore off my thumbnail during a fall on my roller-skis when I first got them. Actually, I'm sure of it. I'm thinking superglue was in the mix too? That I'm not too sure about. Whatever was used, worked, though I believe it took months.

Yep, Stepper - you nailed it!
I saw a robin yesterday, hopping through the snow. Temperatures here hovered in the thirties; same time last year we had abnormally high 80-plus degree days. BP heard in school Tuesday's date last spring was a record 90 degrees! I wonder if the robin came back early, expecting to be basking in sun and warmth. I hope he packed something other than bathing suit and flip-flops.

Gee. I'm sorry your weather this year is so bad compared to last year. But you can not blame the robin for wanting to make a nest before all the good spots are taken. Maybe it is the one BP saw in your tree outside of your window and it has come home. You know, robins are our friends. They keep the worms in check before they all come above ground and take over! I bet it is looking for your worm-cicles.

Well the hot spell fiinshed a couple of days ago, and talk about a dramatic change, few nights back actually left the AC running on low all night it was so humid, last night I popped the electric blanket on a couple of hours before heading to bed to warm it up, and today has neen downright chilly.
Tomorrow, well who knows.

Congratulations on the cool Kat; we've found your lost heat if you want it back. Upper 80's today and 90's tomorrow. I know Phalon still has some cool, but we went right past spring into summer.

Thanks for the offer Step' but I think I'll let you keep that heat if you don't mind, had enough here to last me for quite some time.
The nineties, that would be unusually warm for this time of year I imagine?

Glad you got your cool down, Katina. Hopefully things will even out somewhere between needing the air-conditioning and the electric blanket.
Nah. This is normal; I don't mind it at all. It's supposed to be cold and snowy, even into April. Last year, although the weather was good, it was bad, bad, bad. March heat followed by April freezes ruined all the fruit crops, and this is a huge fruit producing area.
I do however, have a bone to pick with the ancient one, Zephyrus, god of the west wind, and bringer of spring. Seems he's having a temper tantrum this morning. He and whoever is the snow god (Snowyius? Whitestufficus? Blizzardia?) have teamed up, and are having a fit out there. I'm glad I got all my errands done yesterday!

BP noticed yesterday that the little winter aconites along the front walk are up. They're not open yet, but have fat yellow buds. When they bloom, they look like ground-hugging buttercups.
Ever notice how most late winter/early spring flowers are yellow? I'm sure the color has a purpose - to attract early waking bees or other pollen gathering insects. Or maybe it's just to remind us that sunny days are soon to follow.
