What Books Do You Reread Every So Often?
For some reason my mind went blank. I can only think of one book: The Witch of Blackbird Pond. I've read that one quite a few times. It's been a while since I last read it though. I bought my copy years ago when I was a schoolgirl.

THE CHRONICLES OF THOMAS COVENANT and THE MIRROR OF HER DREAMS, both by Stephen Donaldson. My copies are over 20 years old and well 'thumbed'. Ooh, I also have a bound copy of The Strand Magazine (Jan to June 1896) with stories by Conan Doyle and others.

Joxie - the title rings a bell, and is one of those things that's bugging me because I can't remember. I think I read it when I was in school also. A brief synopsis?
One book I definitely remember from back then is "Anne of Green Gables" and have reread that quite a few times.

The original copyright is 1958 (the year I was born), but my book is from 1973.

BTW: Reading Level: Ages 9-12 . . . wonder if your oldest might enjoy it too? My book has a sexier looking image on it. I'll scan it sometime and post it for ya.

Yes, yes - that's it. I recognized the name of the character right off - Kit Tyler. She has a concerned, stern, and somewhat mean in an over-protective, puritanical way uncle, and she ends up marrying Nat the Sailor in the end, yes? I can't believe I remember this - I read the book probably thirty-some years ago, and haven't seen it since. I bought it from those Scholastic Book Order things that were passed out at school every month or so.
And I must have had the same edition you did - the one with a sexier cover. If I remember correctly it was in brownish or rust colored tones. Wind blew Kit's long hair, (blondish maybe), and whipped her long gown with a tight laced-up bodice about her feet, while she stood on a dusty road. Not sure about the dust; just adding that for effect. She may have been wearing a cloak. Nat, I think, stood looking passionately concerned in the background.
Or something like that.

Mine just has a girl on the cover, and I too got my book from the Scholastic Book Order thing that came around every so often. I have most all of my childhood books I bought from them.
I also loved the Marcy series books.

Yep - that's the cover I remember. I got the colors right; a point for the billowing dress, another for the tight laced bodice, and two for blonde hair. Minus one for the dusty trail, the cloak, and Sailor Nate.
Not bad, I think - at least I'm not senile yet. Not completely anyway.
