Female Heroine?
I'd have to say Buffy the Vampire Slayer and her friend Willow. They both kick azz. Such a great show. Strong women kickin booty on TV..hehe. We should have it on Oxygen. :o)

Diffcult to say......
Diffcult to say.......I think Xena and Gabrielle are the first fantasy women heros that relate to our fantasy. Boys and guys have had heros to fashion their dreams.....Superman, Indiana Jones, Luke Skywalker, Lone Ranger, and the list goes on. I thinking of Joan of Arc as another hero(true to life). But, the fantasy in little girls and ladies........Xena and Gabrielle. I really feel this is the reason the series has such a supreme fanbase! ( I also love Callisto as an equally fantastic women nemisis!)Long overdue, the women heros that kick a#s. They only thing i regret.....the guys heros don't kick the bucket.....(sublimal message to Rob Tapert) Long live Xena the Warrior Princess and her sidekick Gabrielle!

What about Batgirl? LOL! My boys saw some old episodes of Batman the other day and were fascinated by Batgirl. I loved the Bionic Woman and Wonder Woman when I was growing up. I think television has taken on a different attitude since I was a kid. Now the shows all seem to be about families or friends and relationships. I like Jennifer Garner in Alias.

Entertainment heroines
Any of you remember Electro Woman and Dyna Girl? When I was growing up this was one of the shows that showed me that girls can save the day as well. I also loved Jamie Summers, The Bionic Woman, and Wonder Woman. GP

Sara Pezzini
You guys have got to check out Yancy Butler as Sara Pezzini in Witchblade. The new season starts sometime early June on TNT. Modern day-medieval-fantasy-take no prisoner-kick butt-Matrixique style fighting with bizarre characters type show. Sara Pezzini is the modern day Xena of an NYPD precinct with one wicked braclet that turns into medieval gauntlet with a six-inch blade when she is threatened.

TV & Movies
I have always enjoyed shows and movies where girls kick some BUTT. So I like "Alias" and "Dark Angel" and "Buffy" and "Charmed" etc...And i thought the movie "Tomb Raider" was awesome and of course I love Angelina Jolie she's one of my favorite actresses. But of course Xena and Gabrielle will always be my number one butt kickers. They hold a special place in my heart.

Well, in responce to my own Q...
I have to say Witchblade and Sara Pezzini are at the top of my list. One down from Xena and Gabbi. But I also like all the women from "The X-Men", Laura Croft(SP?), and... I know there are others but I'm blanking out here.

Wow - what a social commentary that it's so difficult to list more than a couple of examples... That said, I harken back to my childhood with Wonder Woman and then Charlie's Angels. I know, I know, more sex symbols than anything like XWP. Oh well, that's who I admired. Then I have to go to Ripley in Aliens, Geena Davis' character in The Long Kiss Goodnight, and now it's Xena and Gabrielle. I also really dig Morgana in The Mists of Avalon novel.

I have been meaning to add to this but never got around to it.
One of my favorite real life persons: Tasha Tudor (author, artist, and Corgi lover!) I admire her life style of "little is more".
I also like Annie Dillard: author- my favorite book by her is Pilgrim at Tinker Creek.
One of my favorite fictional heroines is Idgie Threadgoode from Fannie Farmers' book Fried Green Tomatoes.

M.A. to save the day
Madeline Albright. A present day kick warlord-butte babe. Yeah. She fearlessly stalked rulers, kings, despots while traveling the globe stopping wars and mayhem. Too bad she didn't have a cool sidekick (that I ever saw). Like Xena she was a mother and could knit, too. What a gal.

Great heroines
As for fantasy heroine, I'd have to say Xena and Gabrielle, followed closely by Buffy and Willow. They all kick butt. I also have to agree with the X-men women, especially Storm. She was so awesome. For a real person, I'd have to say my mom. She ranks high above Xena and Gabrielle.

Tough ?
It is hard to narrow down to just a few.
I have been watching Witchblade for a while now and love it but will always have room for X and G.
I must say that on the top of my list of Women I admire most would be Ayn Rand. She had the courage to present her philosphy about life all aspects of it and she took it a step further ---She LIVED her own philosphy in practical everyday life. She wrote books that explained and showed the practical application of the principles she lived by to help others follow her example. This seems like old news to us but she managed to do these things in a non-liberal atmosphere First Russia her homeland then in the US back in '20's.
Oops sorry I got on the soap box.
There is still a Scholarship avalible to High School Senoirs I think called The Fountainhead -- Named after her book. You read the book and write an essay to enter.

Did I miss it?!
Amazonwarrior33 - I have been searching the tv guide weekly for the new season of Witchblade because I knew it started sometime in June, but didn't know exactly when. Then I see your post and find out it was suppose to have aired tonight! My guide didn't list that - or doesn't list anything for this whole week. Don't tell me I missed it! Still airs on TNT, right? If you know if and when they are going to re-air it, (they usually showed the original season eps. twice in one week), please let me know.

Fantasy Girl Power...
As a girl, I loved She-Ra and before her there was Teela and the Sorceress in He-man.
But as to my favorite fantasy heroines...that's easy.
Before there was a Xena and Gabby, there was Tarma and Kethry. Created by Mercedes Lackey, this butt-kickin' duo appears in the Vows and Honor series; The Oathbound, Oathbreakers, By the Sword (cameo), and Oathblood. The first Tarma and Kethry story (which is in Oathblood) actually appears first in Marion Zimmer Bradley's Sword and Sorceress III (S&S is an entire anthology series devoted to butt-kicking women, the 23rd and final volume will come out next year I believe.)
I think that anybody who loves Xena would love the Vows and Honor books by Mercedes, becuase they were really a new kind of female hero, characters that were *human* first before their gender, but did not have to give up their gender because they were mercenaries.
Another great heroine is Aeron Aiobhell (pronounced Ay-o-vell). She appears in The Silver Branch, the Copper Crown and the Throne of Scone by Patricia Kennealy-Morrison. Aeron is an extrordinary heroine, a truly three dimentional character who is flawed and broken, and ultimately triumphant. If you can find these books, I would *highly* recomend them.
And lastly, I'll leave you with the suggestion of any book by Gael Baudino, though her Dragonsword (Dragonsword, Duel of Dragons, Dragon Death) trilogy is especially good. It is also unique in that it becomes a study of "strong women" archetypes (you know, like the "Bitch", the "Man Hater", etc). Really fascinating to read, especially when it's rapped up in an excellent, butt-kickin story.
Sadly, Gael's stuff is a little hard to find, but so worth the effort. I ready a *lot* of fantasy, and will glady give suggestions to those who are looking for somthing to read.
Thanks, Bhen Rudha The Red Woman

jessica tandy kicks butt as eg! do you know this one?
fear is the little death will face my fear it will pass through me and i will turn and watch its passage away from me.
frank herbert, dune.
the character of jessica attreides in this novel is powerful, but she is not afraid of using her god given powers to shape her future.
luoxanna troi, star trek series is who i want to grow up to be. she sees the world as a gift for her to take and keep. she is fearless even in her failings, she knows flaws are levellers in social interaction. she is also Magel Barrett, Roddenberry's wife of many years.
gillian anderson is, well we know skully!!
susan ivonova from babylon5, why cant they get her a relationship that doesnt die or explode in her face? because she is powerful and she frightens them.
but i am hoplessly in awe of xena, and her best bud, gab. it is so unusual for the media to allow women of power to have a real relationship that is not based on jealousy or power struggles. it has always been taboo to have two people, any two people depend on each other, trust each other, and stay close because they cant categorize the relationship.
love it, love them

I gasp at the sight of all the newbies. ooh new friends. Welcome all.
BR or is it red? I saw my name thought you were calling me out. LOL Must look into your suggestions for the books. Avid reader here. Girlpower is a must.
Artemis459: Glad you joined us, so you like scifi. I like scully too. But you can't outdo X & G.
hope to see you all around the boards. GP

bhenrudha - 04:59pm Jun 14, 2002 ET (#30 of 95) I am the Red Woman.
BR, or is it Red?
chuckles* First, thanks for the warm welcome, it's nice to hear friendly voices on a message board.
Second, Bhen Rudha (pronounced Ven ROO-ah) is stylized Gaelic for Red Woman. So...yes. ;-D
Third, Artemis459, Jessica was my favorite part of Dune, which is why I so totally hated the new mini-series they did on SciFi. The actress they got to play the Lady Jessica was horrid, turned the strong and noble woman into a simpering fool...ugh! Now the actress in the original movie...*that's* Lady Jessica. I wanted to be her after I first saw the movie. *sigh*
And finally, a couple more suggestions for Girl Power Fantasy: Lessa. She appears in Anne McCaffery's Dragonriders of Pern trilogy (Dragonflight, Dragonquest and the White Dragon). Lessa is small in stature, but huge in heart and spirit...and let us not forget her stunning, golden dragon Ramoth.
And Mennoly. She is also from Pern, but appears in her own trilogy, the Harperhall (Dragonsong, Dragonsinger, Dragondrums(cameo)). Here's a girl who risks her life to become more than her family slates her to be. These three are personally my favorite Pern books because I could feel that the author was more connected to them, like the muse was sitting on her shoulder when she was writing them.
Heck...Pern is filled with awesome women, Moreta, Nerlika, Brekke, Miriam...I could go on. But I won't bore you any longer today.
Thanks for reading, Bhen Rudha

Geeze, I can't believe I forgot...
Girlpower...you want butt-kickin' women, you need to find The Deed of Paksenarion by Elizabeth Moon (Sheepfarmer's Daughter, Divided Allegience, Oath of Gold). Elizabeth herself is an ex-Marine, so she knows what butt-kicken is all about.
Where else can you find a woman Paladin?
I will say no more.

Hey Red
Thanx for the E Moon series idea. Haven't heard of those. So they are based in the time of Charlemagne? Knights and such? You should stop by Cyrene's tavern and inn. I'll buy you a drink. We are all very chatty here so hope you like to talk. GP
------------------------------------------------------------
leara - 02:52am Jun 15, 2002 ET (#33 of 95)
Yes Artemis459 I loved Jessica too and thought the latest attempt short changed her. Stop by Cyrenee's tavern and have a drink on me tell them to put it on my tab.
RED: WOW I thought I had read a lot of books it would seem that I have missed all the cool ones. I had read fantasy for a while and all the classic scifi's. The new stuff well did not hold my attention for long. I will seek out these suggestions and get to work on them.
In high school I had the honor to meet a Real Librarian. She knew everything about her huge room and what had and what was being published. I could tell her what I liked or wanted and Boom there was a reading list. She did more than that I was walked back through the stacks and left the library with at least two books. Even on occasion she would special request a book she thought I would like.
I miss her and have lost direction as it comes to reading. I avidly read. I seem to have an insatiable thirst for new things and make quick work of most things speed reading my way through. I have taken to reading more practical things - How to books, News, Biographies, Histories, Medical Journals.... even at times the Dictionary. I would look forward to some adventure reading. Thanks Red Stop by the INN and have a drink on me.
Oops there I go again telling you more boring stuff about me.
ONE last note Get those VCR's ready Sunday is the First episode of the new Witchblade sereis and is 2 hours in length!! As if you needed reminded. LOL!!
------------------------------------------------------------
bhenrudha - 03:13pm Jun 15, 2002 ET (#34 of 95) I am the Red Woman.
Thank You...
Girlpower: The Deed of Paksenarion is set in a self contained fantasy world. If you want good historical fantasy, then you should try The Mists of Avalon (or its prequals, The Forest House, Lady of Avalon, Priestess of Avalon) by Marion Zimmer Bradley. These are all set between the Roman occupation of Britian, and the time of King Arthur.
MZB also did The Firebrand, which is the story of Cassandra at Troy... :::two thumbs up:::
Leara: I know of the type of person that you speak. I sadly am contrained to the limits of Fantasy, and to a lesser degree, SciFi when it comes to my shelves. I know very little when it comes to other genres.
There was an older gentleman at the library I used to go to when I was a kid, who *always* found me a book that I could use, for whatever project I was working on. Even through the library was one of the older, smaller ones in town. We would go all over the library, into places I wouldn't think of looking in...sometimes, with the age of information I miss going to the library.
Perhaps I shall make it into the Tavern and have those drinks. Thanks again.
Bhen Rudha

..."5 X 5"...
There are some great female role models out, but in the fantasy sense:
Dana Scully and Monica Reyes. Great clothes, strong women, unique personalities, and they taught Fox Mulder and John Doggett a few tricks;) Dana Scully is probably my biggest heroine, right next to Xena/Gabrielle.
Tara McClay (sp?), Willow, Buffy, and Faith from "Buffy." I'm actually a huge Faith fan because bad girls sometimes get all the fun;) Plus, she's a fallen heroine who has realized her crimes and is paying for them, without any death involved. Tara was such a beautiful spirit too.
Kate Jackson's character from "Charlie's Angels." I also enjoy watching her on "Scarecrow and Mrs. T."
Wonder Woman: just plain cool.
The Powerpuff Girls: they're so cute, they're cartoons, but they have attitude, and they save the day!
Can't forget Jessica from "Murder, She Wrote" and Sydney Brostow from "Alias."

WONDER WOMAN OR XENA, DOES ANYONE ELSE SEE THE CONNECTION?
I LOVE BOTH WONDER WOMAN AND XENA!I GREW UP WITH WONDER WOMAN AS A CHILD WATCHING HER "HOKEY" TV SHOW AND READING HER COMICS.NOW AS AN ADULT, I AM GROWING OLD WITH XENA, WATCHING HER "SOMEWHAT HOKEY" TV SHOW AND READING HER BOOKS/COMICS!BOTH OF THESE SHOWS WERE WAY COOL AND ARE VERY IMPORTANT IN THE DEVELOPING MINDS OF YOUNG GIRLS AND WOMEN EVERYWHERE!THEY GIVE US THE STRENGTH TO FEEL LIKE WE CAN TAKE ON AND ACHIEVE ANYTHING.WE SHOULD NEVER FEEL LIKE WE CAN'T DO SOMETHING JUST BECAUSE WE ARE A WOMAN AND NOT A MAN...OK,OK NOW I SOUND LIKE I AM PREACHING...BUT IT IS TRUE!IF YOU WERE COMPARING THESE TWO WOMEN SIDE BY SIDE, THEY BOTH HAVE AN AMAZON BUILD, (LEGS UP TO THE SKY) HAVE ASSOCIATIONS WITH THE AMAZONS, DARK HAIR AND PIERCING BLUE EYES.THEY ARE BOTH VERY STRONG-WILLED WOMEN WHO CAN HOLD THEIR OWN AND HAVE THE STRENGTH OF A MAN!WHO COULD NOT SEE THESE TWO WOMEN AS THEIR HEROES?IS THERE ANY OTHER FANS OF THESE GREAT WOMEN AND CAN THEY SEE THE SIMILARITIES BETWEEN THE TWO OF THEM?MAYBE XENA COULD BE A SPIN-OFF OF WONDER WOMAN???

RED : Hey I owe you a BIG HUG and a Thank You!!!!
I was a little slow and preoccupied last week but managed to finish Eye of the World. I loved it. I even slowed enough to {dare I admit that I deface books} mark-up some of the passages.
I dropped the book though in shock one time. I do not often see my own name in print. It was strange in a good sort of way. I am longing to get back to the book store for the next installment. Is there a chance I can catch up in time to be as eagerly awaiting the new one in November?!! I hope to be caught up by then it should not be a real problem.
Diahain : La Femme Nikita was a very strong example of all the resources a woman has at her disposal and was not afraid to use them.

Anyway, happy reading, and thank you for letting me know you're having a good time,

I Think It's... Sci-fi? Or Fantasy? A Bit Of Both
Leara: You read about "The Berserker's Horse" over on "The Information Center" discussion. The title caught my attention one day when I was searching for books for my cousin for Christmas.
Is raises & trains horses for her government... for these crazy guys called "The Berserker's" to come and get for use against their enemies. She can't bring herself to part with this one horse that she's grown fond of, so she steals him and goes off into the unknown territory in hope's that no one will come after her there. She finds a man who's half dead and nurses him back to health, and discovers he's a raving lunatic... or is he? He seems sane until he tries to communicate, and then he loses control of himself.
She follows after this man when he's well enough to leave, and finds that he came from the unknown territory, and that it isn't the "evil of all evils" that she and her kind were raised to believe. Those in power have told many lies in order to keep the people from venturing off. Why?
Both the Berserkers & the horses have a device implanted in their heads that drives them to madness. And when the horses have been trained for a certain amount of time, the berserker's come for them. And when they do, the horse's sense them coming and get really crazed. When this happens, only the berserker's are able to get near the horses, and ride them without the horse's killing them.
I started the book one night, and stayed up until I finished it. It's really hard to explain just what it's about. It's kind of bizarre, but the writer just hooks you by the nose and doesn't let you go until you run out of pages. And then she leaves you begging for more. I sure hope she's working on a sequel... and that it will be out soon.

SHEroes
My first hero(ine) was Nancy Drew - smart, daring, independent. I whiled away many a summer day, eating Deluxe Grahams and white grapes, reading another Carolyn Keene mystery, and wishing I was Nancy! Truly, she influenced my whole life! I saw that it was okay to go for it...ask that tough question...seize that opportunity...with Nancy as an example.
Hey, GP - I remember "Electra Woman & Dyna Girl"! I wonder if Deidra Hall of "Days of Our Lives" puts that one on her resume'??
Later, I admired Dorothy Hamill, CBS anchorwoman Jessica Savitch, and "Charlie's Angels".
These days, along with Xena & Gabby, I admire Kinsey Milhone, the heroine private eye of Sue Grafton's "alphabet" mysteries: "A is for Alibi", "B is for Burglar", etc. Kinsey's far from perfect. She's a real woman - tough, stubborn, neurotic, gun-shy with men - with hair that looks like "a dog's rear end". Hey, sounds like me!

THANKS be to JOXIE!!!!!
I read so much that sometimes I can't quite figure out where things came from just a general idea.
My nephew likes Sci-fi as much as I do but some of them use excessive fouls language. His parents often do a flip through or scan a chapter type of spot check on his reading materials. It means that I have to read anything before I can pass it along well that is also a good excuse to buy books.
I ordered a used copy and it should arrive soon.
THANKS again!!!!!!

No one's comparable to Xena
There are many women heroes out there, but Xena is a true hero. She fought for the greater good and nothing can beat that. I like Buffy and Alias because they have strong women role models in them, but Xena will always be the best in my eyes. Gabrielle is also very admirable and shouldn't be looked over.

Women Rule!!
I love TV shows where women are the stars. Xena is my ultimate favorite, but I also love Captain Janeway of Voyager, Charmed, Dark Angel, and I also like Major Carter on Stargate SG-1. There should be more female heroes, men get too much credit. Rock on Gals!

Aside from Xena and Gabrielle, the best woman heroine is Rebecca Fogg from "the secret adventures Of Jules Verne". Altho I don't think NE of u have ever even heard of that show. Thanks be to strong women characters
I have read the responses to strong women influences. The very first one I recall was Emma Peel. Talk about kick-ass, beautiful, fashionable, classy -- those too young to remember are unfortunate. All I wanted were the jumpsuits she wore. I agree with so many of the others mentioned but don't remember anyone mentioning Adrienne Barbeau's character in "Swamp Thing". She also broke new ground for strong women characters. Also didn't see anyone mention "Relic Hunter" -- one of my favorite shows. The main thing I appreciate are the women portrayed who look like women and not sticks or weight lifters -- just women who from time to time (on camera) actually look a few pounds heavier than usual but still look beautiful. Thanks to Lifetime and women who are taking charge of their lives, we have so many more wonderful role models than ever before. The ones I hate the most are the supposed heroines in movies who scream, cry and whimper, walk into places any normal woman would have better sense than to walk into (like trouble), and who won't stay put once they have a good hiding place, usually leaving it up to a man to save them.

eddings is really great, but rawn kicks too!
bq: appreciate that name drop! eddings was one of my early reads along with the cslewis, narnia books. the space trilogy was interesting but i could not figure out that hideous strength. i kept wishing jane would get a life!
narnia had some interesting female heroes, primarily lucy (did anyone catch the pbs series?), susan and we must give a nod to the evil white witch in all her incarnations. space trilogy was interesting from the blank slate standpoint...but just imagine what xena wouldve done to weston!
hey spartafans, anyone gone through melanie rawn's dragon series, or the mage books. i really like what she does with the women characters, i bet she is a diehard xenite!
comeback with feedback anyone...now that i have a computer of my own, i plan to surf, post, and write(great American novel) to my heart's content!!
thanks guys for being over the top about xena, gab, and their predecessors, i have been lobbying Toys R Us to get a "xena, kick ass section" for all our daughters (and sons)setup between the powerrangers and "pepto pink barbie" aisle . they dont get it.

Melanie Rawn
Indeed her books are fantastic...I am so waiting for The Captal's Tower this fall *drool*. In the Dragon Prince there were several great female characters...and her Outcasts trilogy is based around three sisters, all strong in different ways.
One of the best things about Melanie (I think), are her side characters. She usually creates one or two that have a large role in a small section of the story. These are the kinds of characters you can fall in love with instantly.
Bet you're all surprised to hear that I've read those too, huh?

I can't believe I'm gonna say this but here goes . . . What about Oprah??? Abused as a child and then going on the rise above all that . . . How about all the changes she has been through over the years and on NATIONAL TV yet? Loosing weight, talking about her "past" in public, then gaining weight, then loosing weight . . . her legal battle with Texas? Change takes courage and doing it publically for all to see takes a special kind of courage. IMHO
Ahem . . . climing down off my Oprah soap box . . .
My #1 tuff woman (Xena and Gabby not included) IS: MISS PARKER from NBC's "The Pretender" She had a 9 millimeter pistol and she knew how to use it! Oooo, and don't get in her way. My GOD was she TUFF!
Punky Brewster, The Huntress, Laura Holt from Remington Steele, (I have mixed emotions about that show . . . were people really that gender biased in the 80's . . . OMG), The grrl in the Terminator movies, the Female Reporter in the mini-series V. How bout that GRRL from Mighty Joe Young?
And of course Sue Pippin, SITEL Corporations Director of Networks. (My bosses boss.)

Another Strong Female Book Character.... Justine Segurra
If you like stories that deal with submarines and espionage, I know a series of books with a strong female character...
Author: Bart Davis
I'm not big on reading books that deal with submarines or espionage, just happened to come across them while Christmas shopping for a cousin and got them for him.
Read the jacket cover & inside info and discovered it contained a strong female character & a really great love story. Who'd a thunk it!?! lol Needless to say, I read the books before I wrapped them up and gave them away! Kinda wished I'd kept them now. lol
Justine Segurra works for the CIA and had been a jungle guerrilla fighter.

melanie rawn...
outcast trilogy, is that the captal mage books? i have been waiting for the final book in that series, but outcast... hmmm.
and did i hear someone say that there is a dvd out with season eps on it? if there is do tell...if not who do i write to encourage that particular endeavor?
the melanie rawn depiction of strong, but flawed individuals really gives me hope that someone understands that most of us just hope for heroes that we can identify with, people who have been there and done that and survived (Oprah). we dont want pretty pretty princess who waits for her lover to sweep her off her feet and make it all better...well, sure thats a nice fantasy but it is unrealistic. i have had it up to here with trying to live up to unrealistic expectations, my own and those i permit others to provide for me. i love that oprah allows herself to be shown in her intro with no makeup, she looks like me when she wakes up in the morning, thank the gods. cher went on silkwood without a trace of makeup, that takes sand, especially since she built her career on glitz and that kick ass voice. i dont want my heroes all on pedestals. i want to know that flawed as i may be, i can be a hero to my kids, or to my husband, or my best friend...and i am sure enough of who i am to admit that i have flaws and weaknesses.
the question on one of the boards is, about most touching xena moments i find the most touching moments are when xena admits her vulnerabilities to gab. when she admits her weakness, trusting her friends ability to love her regardless, in spite of, even because of those weaknesses. courage is not always being the biggest and baddest and best, it is when you get to that scary place in a relationship where the other person can see who you are under your magic cloak, and she does not turn away in disgust, but walks forward to embrace all of you. that is real courage and it is therefore real power. art

Old School Brawny Brains
The Bionic Woman- Jamie Summers! Lord, I loved that show! She was smart, athletic, and vulnerable with a well-developed character. Oh, yeah, she could kick some a**, hear it for miles, or jump way over it. Or in a pinch, she could pull out some spare wiring to jimmy a electric life-saving lock or gizmo. Some shows she hardly even used her bionics and I would have been still entranced, never really noticing. I always wondered if Joss Whedon/Buffy writers took the last name of Summers as a nod of recognition or was it just a coincidence?
Isis- the old Saturday morning kids show.
Wonder Woman, Linda Carter version
Spider Woman and Electra- another old Saturday morning kid show
there's so many more....but I'm drawing a blank.
Not so old school-- Sarah Connor- Terminator series Ripley- Alien series Priss- Blade Runner (I know, not a hero - but when I first saw it, she was completely fascinating with the screaming back flips)
Recent- Aeryn Sun/Claudia Black- Farscape Darla/Julie Benz (I think that's her name)- Angel. The way this character left the show was a perfectly stunning exit, leaving her a hero.

I have ordered from them on one occasion, last Christmas, and was satisfied with the used books that I received.
I also found some books by Sharon Green at Bargain Books... but wasn't sure if they were what you wanted. And I found "An Oath To Mida" at Books A Million, but it was currently unavailable. At Amazon, I found: A Will Of The Gods; To Battle The Gods; The Crystals Of Mida; Chosen Of Mida. I found some books by Sharon Green at Barnes & Noble too.

Alibris & Amazon is your best bet. The used books I bought last Christmas from Alibris were in good condition. If they're not, it usually says how bad they are. (Amazon has the books on sale as used, new, & collector's editions.)
The link below is the only place where the books are being sold as a group:
Jalav Amazon Warrior: The Crystals of Mida; With an Oath to Mida; With Chosen of Mida; With the Will of the Gods; With to Battle the Gods, 5 Volumes (Book 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, I, II, III, IV, V)
They must be good books, cause I only found 1 for under $3. May be cheaper to just get the group above. (At the Sharon Green website you can download them in ebooks, but the books are way cheaper.)
I didn't find any of the Jalav, Amazon Warrior books at the Bargain Books site. But it did contain some of Sharon Green's other books.

It's been a while...

To the one who mentioned Mercedes Lacky, Tarma and Kethery remain my favorite pair of heroines, I've been a fan of theirs for almost fifteen years. Nobody has done it as well as Misty.
To the one who talked about Ani DiFranco...I have to agree. She is such a poet of our day, and has managed to make a name for herself without having to bow to the music industry. Righteous Babe indeed!
To the one looking for Sharon Green books, www.bookfinder.com is my favorite place to get used books. I've bought a few semi-rare Ann Maxwell books through the site and have been thoroughly pleased.
Also, while I read Sharon's books like they're candy, I do really enjoy them quite a bit. Her latest series, The Blending and The Blanding Enthroned were a great deal of fun.
And so, and thus...

Laughter thru tears is a favorite of my emotions. Lately there has not been much laughter, just alot of tears. I must say, I have had a lot of hero's to worship in my years. Events of late have added a few more to my list, and I want to tell them that RIGHT NOW.
Donna~ You brought me into this realm. For the chats and the teachings and the friendship...I shall always be grateful. Thank you!
Cortney~ I have learned, thru you and your wisdom of the computer, exactly what this little machine is capable of. I could never in my wildest imagination begin to remember all that you do about this box of boards and chips. You have probably forgotten more than I shall ever know in my lifetime. Thank you!
Sue~ You have given me so many things that I will take with me, I cannot begin to count them all. The things that I have watched you do, in chat, that would have sent me over the deep end, is incredible. You always handle, even the most obnoxious, with style and grace. I can only hope that I would have been able to do that, someday, given the chance. Thank you!
All of the Xena Board Buddies~ In TRUE Xenite fashion, you are already looking for new homes for us all. Joxie and AresGirl...On top of the show as always. Thanks for trying to put something together, before the lights go out. I can only hope, that where ever the winds take us all, we will continue to be there for each other, as we always have been before. You are ALL my hero's. Thanks to you ALL!
My thoughts and prayers and love and hugs go with you all.

Ok I know this wasnt a super hero but i always loved the cat woman on batman - especially ertha kitt. grrroowwwllll i believe she was the best darn catwoman ever,.not putting down julie or miss m ( as I liked to call her).
I think it was the campiness of batman that i liked the best and in some of the herc/xena eps there was that same kind of campiness. ::/hooray2:: l

Joxcenia - Thanks so much for sharing this question. Now I have a great list of books to look for when I have time to read.
Xena of SI - I would pick Catwoman too. Since we are picking someone who is more of a bad girl than a hero, I also liked Calisto.
Sara of Witchblade is totally tough.

I would be glad to give a more detailed list. Feel free to email me (my address is posted in my profile), though I'll put a list together here in the thread. So here's some of my favorite feminist flavored, female hero Fantasy.
Here's the format: Author name (Series name, if there is one) Idividual Book Titles
Mercedes Lackey (Vows and Honor) The Oathbound Oathbreakers By the Sword (cameo) Oathblood - This is a collection of the short stories she's written about Tarma and Kethy including the first ones that appear in Sword and Sorceress.(The Vows and Honor series will remain one of my favorites of all time. Misty really did something new and wonderful with the female hero with Tarma and Kethry, something that hasn't been dublicated, I think not even by Xena)
(Heralds of Valdemar) Arrows of the Queen Arrows Flight Arrows Fall
Elizabeth Moon (The Deed of Paksenarion) The Sheepfarmer's Daughter Divided Allegiance Oath of Gold (Elizabeth is an ex-Marine, and so her depiction of military life is fantastic. Paks is a wonderful character, in which you become deeply attached. The first, real, female paladin I've ever come across. Elizabeth also write military SciFi, which I haven't read, but I have no doubt that it's good.)
Jennifer Roberson (Tiger and Del novels: The Sword Dancer Saga) Sword-Dancer Sword-Singer Sword-Maker Sword-Breaker Sword-Born Sword-Sworn (The Last Tiger and Del novel )
Gael Baudino (Dragonsword Trilogy) Dragon Sword Duel of Dragons Dragon Death
(I call the series Elthia's Children ) Strands of Starlight Mazes of Moonlight Shroud of Shadow Strands of Sunlight Spires of Spirit
(Water!) O, Greenest Branch! The Dove Looked In Branch and Crown (These books are very odd, you'll either love them or hate them and ne'er the twain shall meet. I personally *loved* them.)
Gossamer Axe - this is a stand alone novel by Gael that is one of my favorite books ever. Kick arse women and heavy metal...how can you not love it?
(Gael's books are somewhat hard to find, though Amazon.com and Bookfinder.com are both excellent places to look.)
Marion Zimmer Bradley (Avalon) The Mists of Avalon - the first Fantasy ever to hit #1 on the NY Times Best Seller list! The Forest House Lady of Avalon Priestess of Avalon
Sword and Sorceress 1-21 (This was a ground breaking anthology series, where the main characters had to be female. It is an excellent look at how the genre has changed over the past twenty years. Some of the earlier ones are hard to fine, but still Amazon.com, Bookfinder.com...)
The Firebrand (This is the Fall of Troy told from Kassandra's POV...fantastic)
(Darkover) Hawkmistress The Forbidden Tower (These are my favorites in the series...which is extensive. If anyone seriously wants to know how many are in the series, I will do my best to get them in the correct order, as it is rather complex)
Patricia Kennealy-Morrison (Keltiad: Tales of Aeron) The Silver Branch The Copper Crown The Throne of Scone
(Keltiad: Tales of Arthur) Hawk's Grey Feather The Oak Above the Kings The Hedge of Mist
The Deer's Cry
(Patricia herself is really strange...but don't let that turn you off her books, which are fantastic. Rich and vivid with detail...I just love them.)
Elizabeth Haydon Rhapsody Prophecy Destiny (These are certainly interesting...don't let her prologue throw you off too much. It was, I think, her one critical fumble in the first book...if you can get past it, I think it's well worth it.)
Anne Bishop (Black Jewels) Daughter of the Blood Heir to the Shadows Queen of the Darkness
The Invisible Ring (The last book is a stand alone set in the Black Jewels world, and is very enjoyable. The trilogy is fantastic, one of those where I smacked myself in the forehead for not picking it up earlier. I destroyed the books one after the other, reading them so quickly I was soon sad that I didn't have any more. )
Louise Cooper (Tales of Indigo) Nemesis Inferno Infanta Nocturne Troika Avatar Revenant Aisling
(Time Master Trilogy) Initiate Outcaste Master (The Time Master Trilogy isn't necessarily femminist, as the main character is a man, however, there is a fantastic female character and the series is awesome.)
(My Mother bought Nemesis for me at the grocery store one day when I was sick. She liked the cover and thought it would cheer me up. Not only did it cheer me, but it became one of my favorite series. Somewhat difficult to find...well worth it.)
Tara K. Harper (Wolves) Wolfwalker Shadow Leader Storm Runner Wolf's Bane Silver Moons, Black Steel
Greyheart (This book is set in the future the original Wolfwalker series, just as good, but not the main storyline.)
Cat Scratch Fever Cataract (A pair of books set in a different world from the Wolfwalker. But again, Tara plays with the human/animal bond senerio, with great success.)
Ok...I think that is enough for now...if you want more, or fantasy of other flavors, let me know, I have suggestions for just about anything fantasy, and am always glad to share.

Have you ever read Persia Wooley's trilogy? It's a feminist take on the Arthurian Legend, told through the eyes of Guinevere. I found it to be one of my favorites.

Phalon, I haven't read those...I fear that after The Mists of Avalon (also a feminist take told mostly from Morgaine's view) and Patricia Kennealy's Tales of Arthur that I am tre picky on my Arthurian retellings.
But if you think they are good, I am certainly willing to give them a shot...thanks for the suggestion!
Leara, good luck on those Jordan books! They are a real handful aren't they? But yeah, I enjoy them a lot too. I have yet to read Winter's Heart, but I'll get to it soon enough.
Erocfan02, you're certainly welcome! And I know what you mean...my reading rate has dropped dramatically since I finished HS...little over *mufflemuffle* years ago.

I really do recommend them. They portray Guinevere as a thinking partner of Arthur's, not either the whinning sap or conniving b*tch that she appears in so many of the retellings. Of course, I am biased here. This is my favorite version of the Legend, so anything I read, I tend to compare to this series.
I have not read the Mists of Avalon yet, (although I enjoyed the made for TV movie), or Tales of Arthur. I will have to check them out this winter while I'm off work.

I'll warn you about Mists, as Guinevere is protrayed as both a whinny sap *and* a coniving b*itch. I absolutely hated her in this book.
But as a foil for Morgaine, I suppose she was necessary, and I thought it worked wonderfully, which is why Mists remains one of my favorite books of all time...though I wanted to hurl the it at the wall every time the Queen opened her mouth.
The Tales of Arthur, on the other hand, are part of the Keltiad, which is an alternate reality universe where the ancient Kelts are led back to the stars by St. Brendan the Astrogator, as opposed to Navigator (as told in "The Deer's Cry").
Everything that I disliked about the Arthur myth was "corrected" by Patricia, and I found them to be just wonderful. I hope you do too. Red =====================

Favorite Female's in tv and books...
There's another retelling of Guinevere by Anne Rice's sister Alice Borchadt (sp?) called "The Dragon Queen" which paints Merlin as the villian and Guinevere as a possible threat to Merlin's power and position as she is a child of destiny, born into a powerful line of females and he will do anything to ruin her. Might want to give it a looksee. Book 2 (it's going to be a trilogy is due later this year or next).
Also, Alice Borchadt has written some novels based on were wolves which feature strong female characters:
The Silver Wolf The Night of the Wolf The Wolf King
and her debut novel: Devoted
But for favorite tv shows, female: Yancy Bulter as the weilder of the Witchblade Sara P.
Jessica Alba as Max from Dark Angel along with her friend Original Cindy. (Sorely missed the interaction of OC in Season Two)
In books: Well, listed those and a few of the female vampire characters in Anne Rice's novels.

WoosyQ... Sigourney Weaver was awesome in Aliens, but you can't forget Jenette Goldstein! Vasquez was so tough, with that big arse gun and all, I loved her.
Let us not forget Linda Hamilton of Terminator fame...she especially kicked in T2.
LadyKate...Sandahl Bergman in Conan was especially kick arse, I was so pissed off when she died. *sigh*
Ohh...and Angela Bassett in Strange Days. There's the scene where she's backhanding someone where she's just so bad arse.
Oh geeze...who can forget Tina Turner in Beyond Thunderdome? She's fantastic anyway...but in that dress!

Angela Bassett in "Strange Days" -- oh YEAH! She was awesome! I loved that movie -- great performance by Ralph Fiennes, too. I always thought it was underappreciated.
Linda Hamilton -- yep, very true.
Also, Rachel Ticotin in "Total Recall" -- she ROCKED! She was a rebel leader and Arnold Schwarzenegger's girlfriend -- I loved it that a couple of times in the movie she actually saved Arnie's butt. She had some great scenes duking it out with Sharon Stone as the female baddie (Stone was great in that too!).

I, on the other hand, have read Strangers...and I *loved* the little Xena spoof Terry did...though I have to say I am more than frustrated by the current storyline.
I also read Promethea, by Alan Moore, in which the main character is stories made flesh...she is dream and creation bound in a human body. It is my favorite comic...period.

P.S. Nice to see you, Katina2nd!

Nice to see you as well BhenRudha, anyone who likes Xena and Sip rates pretty high in my book. Thank heavens you didn't give away any plot lines of Sip as i collect it in trade paperback form and am subsequently a bit behind. Just hang in there as i'm sure Terry won't let you down.
100 Bullets is the only other comic i read on a regular basis now,i guess i yearn for the old days when there was such a wide variety available, having grown up with Hal Fosters epic Prince Valiant and the amazing art of Burne Hogarth on Tarzan among others(i think i'm showing my age here)
=====================
BhenRudha Registered Member Posts: 173 (4/25/03 11:28 am)
:::chuckles::: Maybe a little...but then I don't mind.
I'm fairly new at the comic collecting thing, but I think you might like some of the Crossgen comics. I am enjoying quite a few of them, but there are two that are my favorites.
Mystic: on a world where magic is common place, the seven major magic guild masters depend on the spirits of their ancestors for help and guidance. At the ceremony for a new guild master, something unexpected happens... all seven spirits are drawn to one woman.
I confess that I am a major fantasy geek, so the magic in the Mystic books interests me very much. The art is beautiful, and the story is a lot of fun. This is my favorite Crossgen comic.
Meridian: After the Apocalypse, much of the planet has become floating islands. Each island has its own minister, and when her father dies, a young woman must fight her own uncle to become the minister she was destined to be.
This comic has a deeper human factor than Mystic, the characters seem more alive somehow. I love the societies that have grown up on the floating islands, and those of the ground too. This is almost my favorite Crossgen comic.
The coolest thing about Crossgen is that all their books touch each other... and there is a vast story being told. I collect five of their books, and will probably look into one or two more... I can't help it. Teehee... If you're interested in some other comics, I'd highly suggest checking these out if you haven't already.
But you should *definitely* check out Promethea...man you don't know what you're missing. In fact, I found Promethea because she had a cameo in one of the Crossgen comics! These books are brilliant. Alan Moore is alternately genius or crazy... I still haven't decided which. And J.H. Williams III who does all the art, is just fantastic. There's three trades out now for the series... run! Go find them! AHHHHHHHHH!!!!
Take care, Red
P.S. If you enjoy reading the trials of strong women, especially if it's set in the Xenaverse, you should come check out The Zena Scrolls. We just finished Chapter II, and have started Chapter III. Chapter I is also there, and fun to read.

Yep, i am familiar with the Crossgen range, even brought the first two issues of Ruse, and as you say,all their titles are of a very high quality with some excellent artwork. After getting back into reading comics just a few years ago, after a long(very long)period,i picked up on four excellent titles,Danger Girl,Divine Right,Battle Chasers and Wildcats which had extraordinary art by Travis Charest, but within eighteen months or so they had all finished for one reason or another, and in the case of Wildcats they kept changing artists without any warning,so i got fed up pretty quickly. Thats one of the main reasons why i now limit myself to SIP and 100 Bullets, apart from their being superb comics they keep the same writers and artists and always come out on time.
I agree with you about Promethea by the way,i was very close to buying it when it first came out,and if i was to add another title to my small list, that would probable be the one.
P.S. What is the main thing you look for in a comic, artwork or story,or a combination of both????????????? Oh and i think the answer to your conjecture is that Alan Moore is both, crazy and a genius!!!!!!. =====================
BhenRudha Registered Member Posts: 174 (4/25/03 10:08 pm)
It is both, because a beautiful book with no story isn't interesting enough to keep reading. And a fantastic story with crappy art should be a novel (which I read *lots* of).
The thing that impresses me most about Promethea, is the "Immateria" storyarc, in which each book is done in a different style, which is amazing because it's always the same artist.
And I really liked Battle Chasers too... my roommate collected them... it's sad that one stopped.
Red
=====================
katina2nd Registered Member Posts: 17 (4/26/03 4:37 am)
I know what you mean about Battle Chasers,it seems like every title i became interested in finished for some reason, but i still hold out a slight hope that it may start up again sometime in the future. Good answer about what you prefer(art or story)i feel pretty much the same way,i can put up with a slightly inferior story if the art is really good,Wildcats being a good example, basically just a group of mutants similar to X Men,but the art of Travis Charest was simply incredible, but on the other hand i can't abide bad artwork no matter how good the story may be.
Happy reading.

A couple other comics that I collect that you might like are:
Aria: A centuries old Faery Princess lives in the modern world, attracted to the fast paced changability of humanity rather than the stagnant perfection of the Faery Realm.
The art is gorgeous and I love the stories too.
Athena Inc, The Manhunter Project: A hidden ops program has created the perfect agents, men and women who have a super agent hidden within their own DNA.
This is an odd comic, but so fascinating that I keep looking forward to it. Done by the same people as Aria, so it's gorgeous.
Fables: An evil has killed or driven off all the residents of Fairy Tale land. Those left hide in plain sight in the real world, lead by King Cole and Mayor Snow White.
I love the premise of this comic, it's a great spin on a lot of the old fairy tales. And the art's pretty good too. I highly recomend this one.
Heck, I highly recoment all of them!
Thank you, drive through, Red

Sounds to me like you're getting hooked on comics(i know the feeling)and i must say that you have impeccable taste,Aria was another title that i was always interested in and when i read the premise of Athena Inc.i thought that i would definitely be getting it,as the art of Jay Anacleto is really beautiful, but as you point out,it has a strange format and that put me off, maybe i should have given it a go. Meant to ask if you have read any of the Xena comics, they started with some very good artists but then degenerated into rubbish mores the pity. p.s. Have you ever read The Waiting Place??????
Keep on reading.

There is something about Athena Inc that draws me...there is something to the odd formatting and monochrome images that adds to the strangeness of the story, which intrests me. I suppose you could say it is an exception to my usual rules...because the total is more than the sum of its parts.
If you get into it, don't forget to get the oversized issue, which is a collection of "memos" from the Manhunter Project...very cool.
And no, I haven't read any of the Xena comics...I've commented on this in other places, but I'll let you know that I am *very* particular about "fan fiction", however sanctioned it may be. If the characters aren't right, then it puts me off.
And no, I have not read The Waiting Place, what is it?
Thanks, Red

''No,i have not read The Waiting Place, what is it?''-Good question,i was hoping you could tell me,i've seem it advertised in Previews magazine for quite some time and the synopsis of it sounds quite interesting, basically about the lives of a group of people in small town America, but i can't get my hands on a copy to check it out,so i just took a punt hoping that you may have seen it. Do you know anything about 100 Bullets by the way,not that i would recommend it to you,it's from the Vertigo range and is extremly violent and contains a lot of profanity, but it is a great read regardless.
Good reading, The Old Geezer.

I tried looking up "The Waiting Place" on Amazon.com, but since I don't know the author, I couldn't figure out which one you meant. I love Amazon...you can find just about anything there.
As to 100 Bullets, I think a friend of mine has some issues, which I've looked at. Violence and profanity doesn't really bother me, as long as it isn't *totally* gratuitous. I do have a violent streak in me, and will usually induldge it in a virtual setting...video games.

I've read all twelve of Peter O'Donnells excellent novels(better then Bond in my opinion)and the majority of his newspaper strips, drawn by several different artists(Holdaway and Romero doing the majority of them were both superb.)

These are just a few women I admire...
There's also... Phyllis Diller, Carol Burnett, & Jo Anne Worley. (I've got a bit of a sense of humor as well as being a butt-kicking wannabe!)

Joxcenia,as a butt kicking wannabe with a sense of humor you could'nt have picked a better role model then Emma Peel, not only could she kick butt with the best of them, she also had a wicked sense of humor as well. For that matter i really liked all the women from the show,Cathy Gale(Honor Blackman) Tara King(Linda Thorson) and Purdey(Joanna Lumley) although none quite matched the excellent Diana Rigg.

I love Katchoo (mentioned previously)!! Actually I'm Terry Moore's link section on the Strangers In Paradise website because of a little SIP movie I made for Film I in college.
Erin's SIP movie
I also love Idgie (Fried Green Tomatoes) and Dar (Tropical Storm). Corky (Gina Gershon) in Bound. I just recently viewed The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and loved Peta Wilson's "Mina".
I LOVE "Erin" in Michelle Sagara's "Sundered" books.

I had no idea that Michelle West had a psudonym! I love her books! So, I promptly looked her up on Amazon and have added the Sundered books to my wish list.
Thanks! Red

No problem Red!
I'm not sure which name is the psuedonym - though I KNOW that the Sundered books (as Michelle Sagara) came out first. I just kinda assumed she got married - but I don't know.
I did wonder why she would change from an "S" name to a "W" name - I thought "S" might be higher up in the shelves and be more visible. But what do I know?
That used to be my book store test - it was only a good book store if it carried a Michelle Sagara book. There were a lot of bad bookstores before I found out that she was releasing things as "West"! Some have since been redeemed.

I read. A lot. I am always on the look out for a good book with a strong female character. I recently discovered Aud Torvigen in Nicola Griffith's THE BLUE PLACE and the sequel STAY. There is to be a third one, ALWAYS,but it is not out yet.
Aud is Xena's six foot blonde counterpart. I love this character and the story. It's SO well written, almost prose in some parts of it. The story, as Aud, has real substance, but it takes another person to help her find her way through the world as she knows it. Its a bit of a mystery, its visual, and its sharp. I won't go into the details as not to give a spoiler. I will say, emphatically, do NOT read the second book until you have read the first.
So there is my dos centavos worth. EG

"Warrior Women" anthologies
"Did You Say Chicks?" is the sequel to "Chicks In Chainmail", a group of stories by women authors. (Some well-known male authors contributed to "Did You Say Chicks?", too.)
One story: "Like No Business I Know", deals with an athletic actress typecast as "Xora, Warrior Priestess" whose career is in a slump.
There is a lot of excellent reading in these two paperbacks.

Re: "Warrior Women" anthologies
I love the Chicks series of anthologies! Sometimes I forget about them when I think of short stories, because it's usually eclipsed by MZB's Sword and Sorceress.
Anyway, there are two more after Did You Say Chicks?, The Chick Is In the Mail, and Chicks and Chained Males...both of which are more than worth successors.
Lots and lots of fun!
Thanks Dragon for bringing them up...I can't believe I forgot about those!
Oh, and welcome to Whoosh!
Take care, Red

I can't believe no one chose "Kitty" from the Saloon in Dodge on "Gunsmoke".

I can't believe it's been nine months since a post, here. I'm missing something I guess, like the thread's under quarantine, maybe.
Broad definition of "heroine" here I suppose... I'm not defining my terms too stringently this sleep-deprived afternoon. They're all admired, though I'm not sure they all go around saving people's lives on a regular basis. If they do, they're shoo-ins though, as far as I'm concerned.
Offhand:
K Janeway Leela, from Doctor Who Red Sonja Bonnie Raitt (this is new) Emma Peel CJ Cregg Lorelai Gilmore/Lauren Graham (not sure one ends and the other begins... and this is where I get sloppy about "heroine" I guess)
I'll have to come back later as it turns out. Brain no work at sleepy time.

How about the lovely Commander Ivanova (Babylon 5)? She has that repressed and yet fiery thing going on which is very appealing, opening up a bit as the series progresses. Was going to make a terrible pun about what she could do with my jump gate, but best not, eh?

May be a bit strange for a guy to reply to this topic, but what the heck. Personally i don't think you could go past Mrs.Emma Peel(Diana Rigg)from The Avengers, the epitome of class.
Also wonder if anyone is into Strangers In Paradise, the comic book by Terry Moore, which has two of the best female characters imaginable??????????????

Katina... Guys are more than welcome to comment on this topic. After all, there's no rule/law that states that men can't have/admire female heros. I have male heros that I admire, so it's all good.
As for Terry Moore's Strangers In Paradise... I have his website listed in General Discussion forum: Oh The Places We Can Go! - Page 1 - 12th post down

I must say you have great taste Joxcenia,Xena and Strangers In Paradise. I'm assuming you've read it(Strangers) if so i'd be interested to hear what you think of it.

No, I haven't read it. I came across info on Strangers In Paradise while surfing some Xena sites. Shared it with other members of this board in case anyone might be interested in it.
I'm more of a horror/suspense freak, myself.

Red

:::chuckles::: Maybe a little...but then I don't mind.
I just found Terry Moore's MySpace & Terry Moore's Art Website and thought I'd share it with those who read and enjoy: Strangers In Paradise.

Sheesh Jox didya have to drag this old thread back up, just have a gander at the writing, no spaces, the 'i's" not capitalised my writing itself may not have improved since then, but at least it looks [ a bit ] more presentable ........ I hope. Sadly Terry's pulled the plug on SIP after 90 plus excellent issues, I still have two or three of the trade paperbacks to read which I'm putting off for as long as I can, trying to drag it out as long as possible before reaching that final page. Didn't know about his new project that's out next month [ Echo ] so thanks for the "head's up" Jox, I'll have to grab the first issue and see what I think.
