Okay Bards... If you'd like to work scroll posts out in one of Whoosh's MSN chatrooms (or to just chat), there's an option that allows you to hear a .wav being played when someone enters the chatroom, so you can open the chatroom in one window and then surf the web in other windows and wait for the tune you picked out to play it's alert.
Le and I can also hand out hammers that allows whoever has them to ban disruptive members from the chatroom, and when those with hammers leave the chatroom, they can pass those hammers on to someone else. You won't have to wait for either Le or I to come in and kick butt, you can do it yourselves.

The codes on ProBoards works a bit differently... you have to use a code for each action you want, such as:
T <--- should be his is how the ProBoard codes works. <--- should be
To get:This is how the ProBoard codes works. For some reason doesn't work as an end code to ... you have to use ... and if you set a size for your font, you'll need to add twice. I believe they will fix this in the next ProBoard upgrade.
{Update: is working now, but if it stops, just use again.}

Posts: 1099 You're very welcome... It drove me nuts cause I couldn't figure out how to get the fonts to work. Then I made a mistake of deleting instead of during one of my tests to get it to work... and the rest is history.
Figured a few of you bards would be scratching your heads trying to get it to working too, so thought I'd better share.
Right now, you can't hilight the TEXT and then click on a code button... (well, you _can_, but it'll just make ya see red) but I believe that will be in their next upgrade as well. Until then, you can get one of your posts set up like you want and then save it in a word document so that you can delete everything except the code and replace it with the new post.
Actually, Evergreen... since I used your style as an example, you can copy that to save in a word document and then replace my letters/words for your own... you might want to change the sizes, I increased them from what you normally use.
Lesigner Girl Administrator Posts: 968 « Reply #20 on: Jul 28th, 2004, 02:30am » If you're confused about the thing, or want to see how many characters you have left in your post, you can use this It works almost exactly the same as the regular posting screen, except for two modifications to account for ProBoards' font and smiley bugs, plus it counts down to your allowed number of characters.

I am very much looking foward to reading and interacting w/ the newest bards Shexxy (sexy) Xie! Glad you popped up. Hope to be reading from you soon. *thumbs up on the banners all around* question/suggestion: Why is this particular thread called 'Public Service Announcment'? That always mystified me. Looking at the menu of Zena Scrolls threads this one seems a little vague. Considering someone who is new to the Zena Scrolls, 'Public Service Announcement' doesn't seem to relay what really goes on here. I would like to offer up a suggestion of changing the title of this thread -or- If not changing the name of this thread entirely, how about a 'sub-title'? Something like: 'Scroll Bard Free Talk' or ' Zena Scrolls Discussion' or ' 'Round the Campfire: Bard's Banter' ....or whatever. Anyone have thoughts on this? -- the chaotrix nyx
Zena Moderator Posts: 172 « Reply #28 on: Aug 3rd, 2004, 11:42am » And so the bard unrolled her scroll to explain the term "Public Service Announcement": In the days when the Amazons had a Queen, She was named Saxy, And so she looked upon the thread and saw that a place was needed for Bards to talk about the tale. Therefore she decreed that this place should be created and it should be called "Public Service Announcement". Queen Saxy is gone now and no Bard has pledged their loyalty to the name (I do believe) and so it may be changed. Trix had some thoughts - anyone else? Scroll Talk for Bards? Bard's Banter had a nice ring - speak oh fellow bards that I may act upon your will!! Zena "Agere Sequitur Esse" Joxcenia Administrator

Well Kiwi, read up on Chapter three so you have an idea of how the story is unfolding and the main characters. Then you may step in at any point and write an interaction with the others. We try to be careful to write our posts only from our own viewpoint and not to write too much (if any) dialogue for someone else. This thread allows us to process the story and keep ourselves on track. We look forward to "hearing" from you.

I do see where Trix is coming from, we really aren't annoucing anything...so a new title wouldn't be out of line.
Hrmm...Bard's Banter, that's not bad at all...and I really can't think of anything else. Hrmmm...
Kiwi, as Zena says, one of the best ways to get into the story is by getting current with where the existing players are, then figure out where your character can fit. You can also check out the descriptions thread, and of course ask the other bards for clarification and synopsis. When I entered the story in Chapter II, I actually did a series of introductory posts away from the main thread that allowed me to discover my character and draw her into the storyline without disrupting what the other bards had built.
I would like to make a note: None of the bards play actual characters from either Xena or Herc, though they may make an appearence from time to time....this is what I like to call original character fan-fiction.
In any case, I am looking forward to seeing what these new bards have to offer the story, hope to see you guys soon. Take care,
Red

Well... alerting the others to your character's possible evilness might not be a wise move...
You can also have more than 1 character. For instance: Evergreen is also Vassaly. So you can have a good character and a bad character... just PM me what character name/s you'd like and also an email addy if different from the one you're using with this account.

Yes, it's that time again, when I take to the road and somewhat sadly this time I will have no internet connection. So, I have left you with two things... The continuation of the post Phalon and I worked on. *bows in thanks to Phalon's writer* This has been most fun, I would love to do it again. We had already gotten down over two pages when Zena posted, so we had to take some time to rework the piece so that it fit...I think we accomplished it. *thumbs up* Then I managed to write an answer to Zena's post. I did not want to make the Amazon Leader's decision for you Zena, which is why I left it at silence...which you can interpret any way you like. No matter how Zena feels, Red would react to her silence in the same way. See? And I had her run off into the forest so that you weren't forced to wait three weeks for me to come back to post. I'll catch up when I get back. Have a good August and Scroll on! I'll look forward to reading it all when I get back. Red

'allo,
Red, called me last night while on the road and requested that I relay this message:
"Evergreen, I am so stupid! I was going to answer your message but I got caught up packing and all that mess before a trip. My intention was to answer you before I left but I forgot. I will be happy to help you out with your banner -As soon as I get back we'll work on it, if that's okay."
I am summarizing here. Red actually went on at great length about how stupid she was and how bad she felt and stuff like that. I assured her that she was not stupid and that it would probably be all right and that she should calm down and have a good trip.

RED: By all means have a good trip! Please don't be worried about not responding...life is too short. I knew you would repsond when you could and I am a patient. I just simply appreciate you creative assistance.
Question for my fellow bards: As you know EG is back and wandering-no surprise there. As you also know, I have also created and written as Vassaly. And, I am fond of her subtextually inclined character. I am not sure whether she will return or be written out. I would like yall's thumbs up or down to help me decide her fate... and for my French Canadian friend...eh?

Nice work Phalon. It had a nice sharp edge to it. We are really writing out of the character's head and not out of all the knowledge that the reader possesses. When Sumire sees Zena stand up she assumes she is challenging Red rather than protecting herself and Phalon hears "you are not Amazon" as a statement of rejection rather than the release from an obligation it was meant to be. Tension is good - keeps the readers interested!
EG, I think Vassaly should not just fade away, I hate loose ends!
