Once upon a time, in the imagination of an inventor of deceptively simple surgical appliances, it came to pass that I found myself under his umbrella, waiting at the bus-stop. Had I known at the time that it was going to be a long slide through his stormy daydream, I would have centered my thoughts in an altogether different direction. Hindsight is twenty/twenty, so glancing over my shoulder, I took a deep breath, held my umbrella tightly, and sought the only refuge possible - straight up into the air. In Mary Poppins-fashion, I flew away to a land in a large bright green, orange and purple technicolor dreamcoat. As I sailed dreamily along my mind wandered back to the place I belong.
I need to find a way to wake myself, I thought. The umbrella handle contained a deceptively simple surgical appliance; afterall what's good enough for him must surely be appropriate for an escape from his dream.

NEW Rules:- You can only add up to 100 words to the story at one time. (That doesn't mean you can't repost the entire story/paragraph from the thread above yours; then adding your 100 words to the end.)
- There is no limit to this story. In other words, members can end it wherever they wish and then start a whole new story ... or create chapter breaks, head hop, etc. (I got this idea after clicking on one of the Google headers above, and checking out: StoryGaps. I thought redefining the rules would keep this game from being discarded after a while.)
- Use first person pronouns for the main character. This will solve the he/she problem. And both sexes can add to the story without gender bending. (To a certain extent I guess. So try to stay clear of classifying the gender.)
No penalty for breaking the rules, but you could be bending genders and warping minds.
