The object of my affection portrayed the ' and wife' of a 70s cop show.
Many people thought I was the subject of "You're So Vain" - but they were wrong.
I have an 'artsy' assistant.

Ah'ha, so you're Rock Hudson and McMillan and Wife the show in the clue.
Now just have to search my memory banks and see if I can come up with the film you're describing, nothing leaps out at me at the moment.
Betcha Siren would know.

You got that clue well enough Kat. And I'm almost certain you know the movie.
I thought the "You're So Vain" clue would give it away because of who that was...but now that I think about it there were several guesses.
I can throw another obscure clue at you if your interested.

Ummmm, not sure another clue would help at the moment [ depending on the type of clue that is ] I'll sift through as many of his movies as I can recall and see if it comes to mind.

My 'artsy' assistant has a distinctive laugh. As a matter of fact, he was previously on a comedy TV show where laughing mattered. He played a German soldier who spied on people – his catch phrase was “Verrrry interesting…but stupid!”

Think I'll go feed my face and watch a bit of footy on the tele, maybe the old memory will work better if I get some sustenance into me. Catch you later mate.

I pass, I don't think I know who that is Don't think you're alone there xenawp7706. Yep, SSJ was the girl getting her ankles licked apparently, but we're after the name of the bloke doing the licking though champ, Rock Hudson's character. Soooo, it stars RH with SSJ, Schultz [ don't know his real name ] from Hogan's Heroes is also in it, we have the plot, and the answer quite obviously is ......................................... I don't have a flaming clue. Gone through as many of Rock's films as I can recall and none fit your clues Step' think we'll have to wait for Siren to save our bacon.

You guessed correctly who the 'and wife' is, but the clue does not mean that "I" am McMillian (or Rock Hudson). It was a clue to the leading lady only - if I mislead you I apologize.
Hmmm. Let's expand a clue. I found you at night because I am only out and about at night. (I am known IRL {In Real Life} for having a tan - maybe that was a subtle part of a joke in this comedy.)

- if I mislead you I apologize. No worries mate, the clues were fine I just misread em. Like mistaking the guy from "Laugh In" for the one from "Hogan's Heroes." Okay so Rock's out, we go in another direction and we come up with .... this So...George Harrison...Love At First Bite....Artie Johnson?? I'm too confused to know what we're looking for! Think you've nailed it champ apart from the typo, twas G Hamilton you were looking for ...... well done. Sheese I hope you've nailed it. ;D

My movie begins with my birth. I have too little time with my father who is killed because of something my uncle did. My uncle planned that I should also be killed but I manage to escape in the wilderness. I make new friends who help me survive (which includes eating bugs) until an old acquaintance finds me while out foraging. I get talked into going home where I take revenge on my uncle, get the girl, and end the show the way it started, with the birth of a young ‘un.

Maybe I'm being too vague Siren. I want you to have fun, but it's got to be solvable to be enjoyable.

No worries, Step. As I've said before, my area of movie knowledge is pretty narrow. But I'm betting one of our Chakamigos will figure it out.

I was a movie first, and then a stage play. In the movie, Whoopi Goldberg voiced one of my characters.

Right, let's get this thing rolling shall we.
I am a predator, hard to track because I'm always on the move and cover a wide area.
I select my victims randomly and strike with remorseless savagery, then move on in search of further prey.
I am ..............

I'll go with the obvious here, because it featured one of my favorite old heartthrobs, Carl Weathers....
"Predator" (1987)?

Nope not Predator I'm afraid Siren [ one of my favs that ] You're kinda sorta in the ballpark though [ or then again maybe not ] It's not Sci-Fi, hope that narrows it down a little.

Das Boot. I think it misses out on "randomly" selected victims, but it's a start.

Ummmmmmmmmmmm Nope, not "Das Boot" mate, how do I answer without giving it away. You may want to rethink your earlier reply.
