Welcome back Kat! I think having to go so long without the web would make me a bit bonkers. Phalon can tell you who as I don't remember her, but someone else was here recently who is also down under. At least I think so. Thanks Step, yeah it was a bit of a pain for sure, best thing that could have happened though as it turned out, previously I was getting download speeds of around 35/40 KBPS can you believe, now it 400/500 so it worked out well in the end. LMV popped in a wee bit back. She had to create a new account.
Don't think I recall her Jox, though have a feeling I should. Katina!!! <bear hugs> I have missed you! Thanks Gams, I've missed you (and everybody else) heaps as well, great to be back.

Thanks Jox. Last posted in 2011, no wonder I had trouble remembering her, can barely recall anything more then a month ago these days.

I remember a month ago. It was hot, humid, & sticky. Of course, that started in June so I might actually be remembering July or August. Those are still months - right? It's so hard to remember!

Been ill, written an unpublished book, and started creating a tribute CD to Connie Francis. Oh, and graded appropriately 2 million, 950 thousand papers.

Scamp, sorry you've been ill; I hope you're doing better now.
Your unpublished book - fiction or non? Academic or something you did for the fun of it? Destined for publication or for personal satisfaction? No small task whatever your reasons - congratulations.
And I hope many of those nearly three million papers were worth reading!
Nice to see you back.

Joxcee, thanks for the welcome back!
Phalon, thanks for your reply. I had stage IIIb breast cancer which, luckily, the 6 months of pre-surgery chemo knocked out so that when I did have surgery, there was no evidence of cancer.
The book which I co-authored is a history of women in rock. Maybe a 60% chance of it being published. I've also done a couple of articles on issues concerning breast cancer of which 2 have been scholarly for use by oncologists in dealing specifically with breast cancer and one has been a theoretical ditty on mapping illness.
Last I heard one of your kids was headed to or in college doing art (very cool). How's that going?

scamp: Glad to hear you're much better. Hope it continues.
Have you thought of Indie-Publishing? There should be info on IP in the 'Word' board/forum.
Phalon's oldest is in college, and her youngest will be headed that way fairly soon.

Hideous disease in all of its forms. Very glad for you that you're now "clean".
How flippin' cool is that?!! Best wishes on it going to publication!
Good memory. She went into college undecided on a major, but with an idea she might want to do something in the field of art, probably graphic design, but didn't want to be a starving artist. Was nearing the time she was required to declare a major, and had one of her professors take a look at her work before applying for entry into the graphic design program (competitive entry at this university), who told her she had a great portfolio....for fine arts, and to take some graphic design entry level classes the semester before applying to graphic arts program. Was probably the best advise she received during her college years - she decided graphic arts was too limiting, and switched gears, but is still using her creativity. Her major is Integrative Public Relations (a multi-disciplinary program heavy on broadcasting, journalism, graphics and photography), with a minor in Media Design and Technology; she graduates in December. It was a great choice for her - she's got an internship this summer, and loves it.
She still paints and draws on the side, in whatever spare time she has. Kinda wish PhotoBucket still worked here - her work is phenomenal, and that's not just a Mom opinion!

Phalon: Too bad Trix isn't still around, she might could have helped. *shrugs* I have sites listed on the Art board where Trix has posted her art if you want to check out the threads there. I also have sites where artwork can be sold. (If you need help just post in there and I'll try and find the info you/she might want.)

Thanks, Joxie. I'll ask her first before checking any further; she's never wanted to sell anything in the past (although she's done tattoo designs for some spending money in the past). Mostly her art is just something she does because it gives her satisfaction, or occasionally to give as gifts, and she doesn't have much time to do it - she's been working on a painting of an owl for the Boyfriend (apparently, he likes owls) for the past year, and last I saw it, it was nowhere near completed. She finally completed a colored pencil drawing of BP; it was half finished for so long, I told her she should title it "Half-Sister"! The date on it is 2015; she completed it this spring! I want it - it doesn't just resemble BP, it is BP exactly, right down to her attitude. She won't part with it though, not even for Mom. Maybe I'll post a picture of it on the Facebook page.

If nothing else, she can look into CafePress.com ... members can have private shops there, and only the shop owner and those they share the link with can view the item/s. She could upload images, put them on items and buy them as presents. Maybe even a poster of BP for her mother.

Probably should dip my toe in the water here first, guess you could say I've been a prodigal for a while.
Anyway finally found my way back home, reckon I have a fair bit of catching up to do.

Thanks ladies, much appreciated and I must say it's great to be back. What have I been up to, well I'd like to say I've been jet setting around the globe and living the James Bond lifestyle; that's what I'd like to say but the truth is much more mundane unfortunately, just the same old same old.

I'd like to say that too! Sometimes though, a nice calm mundane is good! You'd love it here then Gams, doesn't get much more mundane I can tell you. Speaking of prodigals, do any of the old gang still post at all {Stepper, Moonglum etc) and what about that annoying one, think her name was Scraps, or something like that, she still make an appearance from time to time? *Think I may regret saying that*

Stepper doesn't post here anymore. Moonglum does every once in a while. Scraps pops in but usually pops out without posting. I created a Facebook group and several of us post there every now and again. Q posts there. Vox has a couple of times. It seems fewer and fewer people are posting on message boards anymore, so I figured a Facebook group was better than nothing. Kym posts there once in a while too.

Never used facebook myself, but I'll check out the link for sure.

Sadly, the social media sites are killing message boards. I much prefer message boards, but that's the way it is. I should probably move anything I don't want to lose to blogs ... on various sites in case one goes down, I'll have backups.

Hello Kat, nice to hear from you. I've been a bit lax myself in recent years. Now that I've retired I thought I'd have more time on my hands but Vox says no I don't, apparently. 'She who must be obeyed' has other plans, and we are gearing up for xmas when the family, 'the northern clan', are descending upon us. Oh, the joys of retirement.

HA! Unfortunately, my hips and thighs would have to disagree with you. Ornery bastards, they can be!
I prefer message boards also, but you're right. Q and I had 'The Social Media Killed the Message Board' conversation (sounds like a song) when we met in Chicago, which is pretty much the reason I joined the Facebook Whoosh group; I don't do anything on my personal page though.
Probably won't be long before other forms of social media kill Facebook - according to the younger crowd (including Q's Ana), Facebook is dead, and is for old people! What does that make us, Joxie - ancient, I suppose!
That made me laugh out loud, Moonglum. Tell Voxie Lady I said you can have a day off every once in a while.

Yeah. I was just wondering how much longer Facebook would be able to stay up. I'm wondering if that's why there are more ads there now. Although, I've only been a member of Facebook since November/December of 2015, but I don't recall ads within videos. I'd imagine that Twitter won't be far behind Facebook either. I know Instagram is a big hit at the moment. I recall mention of other sites, but I didn't join them ... too many profiles to keep up with as is. There's that chat site. Oh. SnapChat. Tumblr is also big now, I believe. I finally joined there a few months ago.
I haven't logged into MySpace or LiveJournal in eons. Of all the social media sites, I loved MySpace the best, and then they had to go and f it up to try and keep up with the newer sites coming out. I have a blogger profile, a Google Plus profile ... which is linked to my YouTube profile. There's just too many to join. I'd rather wait and see which one sticks before joining. Sadly, most of my haunts are shut down. I don't have all that many places to hang out at anymore. I think Proboards will last a while longer, but it's probably best to move my stuff to blogs ... and save it on my computer.

'She who must be obeyed' has other plans, and we are gearing up for xmas when the family, 'the northern clan', are descending upon us. Oh, the joys of retirement. Howdy MG, long time no see. Retired hey, how do you fill in your time (apart from shopping for a new wedding ring ) hobbies, interests? And how is your better half, well I hope. Use some of your new spare time to try and convince her to pop in here once in a while, would love to hear from her. Unfortunately, my hips and thighs would have to disagree with you. Ornery bastards, they can be! Sheesh Gams, the way you work I thought you'd be as thin as a whippet.
