The difference in my children's eating habits as described by LX:
"BP: It's gotta be non-GMO, no hormones, no artificial flavorings or coloring, free-range, organic, locally-grown, fresh, and without chemical preservatives.
LX: Just gimme a bag of Doritos and I'm happy."
It's sometimes not easy grocery shopping with the both of their tastes, needs, wants in mind. There's gotta be a happy medium...and her kids are probably grown, and she's laughing her head off, watching them try and feed their own kids.

I've lost 17 pounds since we started, and then made the mistake of trying on my jeans from 5 years ago. Blah!
I did though, wear to BP's 8th grade graduation a dress from at least if not more than 20 years ago (from back when I worked in an office, and bought really good clothes because it was before kids, and I had the money to buy really good clothes!). All I had to do was take out the shoulder pads (not fashionable anymore), have it dry cleaned, and I was in "retro" vogue, (LX now wants the dress, and wants it bad)...wearing a size 4! Same size as the jeans I tried on that I still can't fit into; the dress isn't fitted, the jeans are....and LX wants those too. Not getting them though, because I'm determined they are going to fit soon.
And HA! I won! Since I last posted my weekly weigh in, I have been in heated battle with a single pound....actually, less than a pound. Gained .8, down to a gain of .2, then back up to a gain of .5. Finally dropped it and then some - another pound! Seriously?!! Three weeks to loose a single pound?!
Slow and steady may win the race, but absolutely sucks when it comes to bathing suit season!

Hmm. Does she have anything you wanna wear? Sounds like your wardrobe just expanded somewhat.

HA! Only if I wanted to borrow my own ratty discarded t-shirts that they both "borrowed" from me. Or wear a sticky covered-in-ice-cream-and-fixin's-goo DQ t-shirt.

The next best answer then is to splurge on some really sweet frock and tell them they can only look. Then hang it in some public place and tell them it's personal motivation. A mom's gotta have fun somehow!

I imagine if I bought something and called it a "really sweet frock" that alone would be enough for them to steer clear of it without even giving it a glance.

Unless they wear jeans to the prom, they might surprise you. Everybody dresses up once in a while.

Well ... I weighed today and I have lost almost all that I gained during Mom's ordeal. I'm now back to the weight I was when I started exercising in January of this year. Now to start a new routine. Still have the soreness that I use for an excuse not to move. Plus, I figure why start now if I end up having surgery within the next couple of months. My doctors appointment for this Thursday has been moved to next month. Nothing like waiting to learn what needs to be done.

We're glad you're back, and that mom's okay, and that you are again getting a handle on the weight, and that you're back, and that mom's home - or did I mention those already? Because the healthier you are and the better you can breathe, the easier surgery and recovery will be - if that's where things go. And if not, you won't have wasted a couple months doing nothing, waiting to find out that you're better off than you thought.

Yeah. I figured someone would mention that exercising would be helpful in the long run. I'm pretty positive I'll have to have some type of surgery though. I can't think of any reason not to at least cut out the fibroids. I don't know if the uterus will then shrink on it's own, or keep growing ... or if more fibroids will then grow.
I'm all for getting rid of the whole deal, even the ovaries. And the appendix, along with them. I'm just not thrilled about being cut into, and the healing afterwards. I wouldn't have to worry about an appendicitis, or ovarian cancer or uterus/endometrial cancer. My Mom had a hysterectomy when I was in grade school. She had no problems with it and recommends it highly. I figure if I do have to be cut into, I might as well get the whole enchilada done ... no sense in going halfway and leave room for more work to be done later on.
Of course, I could change my mind once I hear all of the options.

Let me rephrase what I wrote....
I imagine if I bought something and called it a "really sweet frock" that alone would be enough for them to steer clear of it without even giving it a glance...after laughing hysterically and rolling their eyes nearly out of their heads because I called something a "really sweet frock".
Despite their affection for ratty t-shirts, the girls both like wear dresses, and own more of them and skirts than I do. Unfortunately for borrowing purposes, they are teenage/young woman type clothing, not something a middle-aged woman would (or should!) wear.
Stepper beat me to it; I totally agree with him.
I dunno, Joxie. I don't think they perform surgeries as readily now as they did back when your Mom had it done. If there's a less invasive option, I'd think they'd recommend that first.

Unless of course it's only you and hubs at home. Just sayin'. Agreed! And, psychologists say that 90% of worry is unwarranted - never comes to fruition. Wait until you know your options are and then decide what you think is best for you. !! So, instead of Joxcee we'd have to start calling you Joxcer? Why not - if Bruce can do it so can you.

Well, Mom has been telling me for years and years now that I'll have to have a hysterectomy one day, and I kept rolling my eyes and telling her I wouldn't. Anytime I tell her she's wrong, she ends up being right. I find it hard to believe that this time will be any different.

Removing parts won't make me a Joxer. I'd also have to add one. I won't be doing that, just so you know.

Oh, by the way ... I like to use reverse psychology ... if I'm expecting to cut it all out, even get myself to liking the idea, then I'll either be relieved that I won't have to, or prepared for if I do have to.

What? You need a stupid looking hat? Seems I tend to use reverse physiology - the more normal I tell my body it should be, the stranger things get!

Ummmm ... yeah ... sure ... that ... and a wee wee willie.
BTW: There's a radio station that has those who call in state: "I lllooovvveee my Willie!" That would not have been so funny if not for Kevin Sorbo's story he told on a talkshow once.

Ah. You've heard of Mr. Winkie! Good for you. You might say he's had an influence on my life. I suspect that's a radio station I'd avoid. I wonder what Siren would have to say about that kind of call in.

Obviously it's the choice many have made - but it'd be nice to have them come back once in a while too.

Yeah, once or twice a year to let us know they're okay.

Something I learned this weekend from the nutritionist's talk we had at the nursery...
Guess how many Americans don't get their daily recommended allowance of fruits and vegetables?
Though some people eat enough fruits, and some people eat enough vegetables, 98% don't eat enough of a fruit and vegetable combination.
Lost .2 pounds this week. Miniscule amount, but considering I've had at least one beer every night last week, a big steak dinner last night, and birthday cake and ice cream for the past three nights, I consider losing .2 pounds pretty amazing.

Now that's going too far. Congratulations that you're still losing, but is it necessary to put it that way? Couldn't it be more of a struggle? Sigh. I told you working at the nursery was going to help you lose even more.

A fraction of a pound isn't really losing; it's maintaining, which would be great if I'd reached my goal! Unfortunately, I haven't, and unfortunately, there's still cake left.
