There's very little color here except for brown - the cooler temps are only now beginning to arrive so perhaps it won't be a complete loss, but my red maple gave up weeks ago. I believe the heat and drought got to it, but the leaves simply turned brown and dropped off. Not a speck of color anywhere. Recently cool moved in and we've been getting decent amounts of rain. Not enough to get us out of the extreme drought conditions but last night we had another good rain and the weather guessers are saying Sunday night we've got another chance for more so perhaps things are finally looking up. I went back to Audie Murphy yesterday for an initial appointment with a new Dr. Then went to their gym to visit with all the therapists who ought to be able to walk on water as far as I'm concerned. Unfortunately, I had to cut it short because they were just starting their office Thanksgiving luncheon as this was the last day they'd all be there until after Thanksgiving, but it was great getting to say hello and show off the little bit of improvement I have in my ability to work my right leg. And now I'm on the hook for a homemade cheesecake. With my limitations it'll be more work than I'm accustomed to, but for them I'll find a way to make it happen. I'm planning on one cake that's half blueberry and half cherry, but I may end up making two instead of one because the people who asked about it are my two favorites so maybe I'll give both of them a complete cake for Christmas. I make scratch New York style cheesecakes, but these are not dietetic and someone who, like me, is diabetic would have to stick with pretty small pieces.

Got soft rain here last night. I turned the heat on the other day, and set it to 67F. It hasn't gotten cold enough to kick on yet. It's too cold outside for shorts, but the sun cooks the house. The thermostat was 75 this afternoon, but I didn't turn on the a/c. It seems weird to have the a/c going when it's too cold outside to have it on. One reason why I'd really prefer to have a house to a double-wide trailer.
I've never made a cheesecake. Half blueberry and half cherry sounds yummy. I'm glad you're doing a little better. I hope you can get back to 100%. It's been very quiet around here. There have been a couple of members who logged in, but didn't post, this past week. I guess message boards are truly never going to make a come back. One day this board will get shut down and left as an archive to be lurked at only. So sad.

Cheesecake can be a lot of work. I make the crusts and cake from scratch but since you start by getting ingredients to room temperature it can take a long time to get everything done. And the cake has to be smooth so mixing can take longer than most people expect.
Steppet was telling me that since both of the people were important for one reason or another during my stay in rehab, I should make two - one for each of them - and give them the whole cake with the topping flavor they prefer. I'll probably do that even if I'm certain that it's way more than they'll be able to deal with on their own. I'll probably go without because of the amount of time involved in preparation, but I want them to know they mattered and having them share a single cake doesn't say that.
I'm sorry about what's happening to the board, but since the Xena shows aren't recent, new, etc., they just aren't going to generate enough interest to attract new participants. I'll miss the board when it's no longer available and I already miss favorites who have abandoned the site or at least quit posting, but I can't change the situation.

Yeah. I can't change the situation either. I wish I could. I've added so many different kinds of forums to draw in interest, but alas it isn't working. I've thought about closing the FB group, since no one even posts there, but Kym is on FB and other social media sites quite often, so I figure I'll leave it because she's there to check on it.
I'm sure your cheesecakes will be greatly appreciated, so your hard work won't be in vain. My Mom only made a quick and easy cheesecake. It was always served on my sister's birthday, as it was her favorite cake. Maybe I'll try my hand at making it and adding cherries or blueberries.

Hello, hello!
Stopping in to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving!!!
I'm still in computer hell right now - I had to send the new laptop back, and decided instead of reordering then, I'd wait until Black Friday to see if I can get a better price.
Finished work for the season this week, so hopefully with a working computer and more time to play, I'll be able to catch up here.
In the meantime, hope you all have lots of turkey and all the fixings (and Stepper if you end up with too much cheesecake, you know where to send it!!!!), and a wonderful, wonderful holiday.
And now, I gotta go clean something - lots of things actually - and start prepping all those "fixings" for tomorrow.

Steppet and I wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving! Phalon: I can't stand long enough to do much of extra stuff so there's no cheesecake this year. I'm planning to try that when it's closer to Christmas. But I'll make a half blueberry and half cherry with you in mind!

A quick hello all. I finally got a new laptop(!!!), months in the making, and you wouldn't believe the cr@p I went through to get it. Seems you can't just order a relatively expensive item online anymore without having to jump through all kinds of "fraud alerts" hoops via text, phone, and e-mail; absolutely needed in these days of on-line scams, I understand, but if the web-site has added securities, and your bank has these added securities, sometimes one overrides or cancels out the other, and they've all got short time limits in which you must reply/confirm/etc, etc, etc, or it all kicks back and you have to start the whole process over again. The new laptop is having all the pertinent stuff loaded on by Computer Guy Neighbor - in the meantime, I'm eeking the last bit of life outta the old one.
Winter here - in the 20s with snow. No wait - it's Spring, in the 30s with rain. No, no, no wait - it's Fall, in the 50s with sun.
Who the heck knows? We've had all of the above in the past week. Hopefully, as pleasant as it is, we won't be in Summer anytime soon. Not normal; not good this time of year.
Been busy crafting, getting ready for Christmas, doing a bit of work on an online go-at-your-own-pace class I joined (and go-at-your-own-pace is exactly what I need with the condition of my computer at the moment!).
Back sooner than later, I hope. Things are looking good, computer-wise, in that respect.
Hope everyone is doing well, and enjoying whichever season the weather is throwing at you.

Nice to see you back, Phalon. I hope you got all your computer/wifi woes worked out. The SIM card in my iPhone 13 has been coming and going of late, so I took it to the Verizon store and they tossed the card and added an eCard. Hopefully I no longer have to worry about losing my ability to call and text, and only having the ability of using 911 and other emergency features.
The nighttime temps have dropped below freezing a few times, but not the daytime temps. The highs have been in the 50s mostly, but has reached the low 60s a time or two. Mid-December and January is usually the coldest times of the year. We usually have a week or two of temps in the teens/20s, or below. But, the rest of the time the temps go up and down and we get reprieves from the severe cold to get us through until Spring.

Lookit me! Look me!
<twirls around for all to see>
I'm on my new lap top! And the "a", "s", and "h" keys don't even stick. 'Course I haven't figured out how or where to find half the stuff I usually use, or what I did find, I haven't quite figured out how to use it yet. Sigh. Technology. This one is literally half the size and weight of my old laptop (that's how old it was - it's pretty much the size of a desktop).
Taking a break from crafting...and cooking. No idea why I decided to do both at the same time! I'm making the girls' ornaments this year, and one for the Boss Man too...and though, (of course!), my vision was not as easy as I thought it'd be, they are looking pretty danged cute!
In the 30s here, and very, very windy. But the sun is shining!
Gotta run - the potatoes need to go into the oven. Which, btw, is not part of the Christmas ornaments I'm making!
Hope everyone is doing well.
Later, Taters.

All is well here.
We were supposed to get rain starting tomorrow, and rain every day into the middle of next week. Slowly, the rainy days started disappearing, and now there are none. The temps go up and down. There have been a few nights dipping down into the 20s. I have calendar alerts to remind me to check my gas percentage, so hopefully I won't run out of gas and have to deal with trying to keep warm again.
