Dang. I was sure that'd get a rise out of her. I hope the itch doesn't drive you crazy. It wasn't a good experience for me when my arm was itching a few months ago. I can usually tolerate things but for some reason I didn't handle this well at all.

That's a good idea. I take it that it was over-the-counter stuff?

Yeah. It just helps with the discomforts of a sty. It doesn't get rid of one. I go to my primary/family doctor in a little over a week, so if I haven't cooked its goose by then I'll mention it to her.

Too bad it's not a cure, but sometimes not hurting is enough.

Thankfully, it hasn't really hurt all that much ... but with all the heat I've been exposing it to I figured the drops wouldn't hurt.

I can be pretty wimpy about feeling unwell - so anything that makes me feel better is fair game.

Here's some news you may want Phalon - Q101.9 started their 24 hour a day all Christmas music season. You'll be wanting something to listen to, right? Especially while trying to sell all those Christmas wreaths.

Stepper, Stepper, Stepper, tsk, tsk, tsk. Are you unaware that last Friday was the release date of "Made in the A.M"? Which is "only the best album ev-veeer".

Unaware. Completely, especially when it comes to groups that don't sing songs I listen to. This choice of yours confuses me completely. They're not purveyors of what seems to be your usual genre. They're just boys your daughters like to watch wiggle.
Tsk Tsk Tsk. (From Wikipedia) The New York Times says that "even though Mr. Bieber is younger than all of the men of One Direction, he sounds exponentially more experienced, and exponentially more fatigued on Purpose", complimenting the album for showing that it proves that Bieber is "the best singer of the bunch, and the one with a clear vision for his sound, even if he’s being largely denied it here".
From what I've read, Adele is overtaking everyone. I'm not a fan - to me she tends to swallow words for lack of a better explanation.
BTW - I looked up "best selling" - top 100 albums. They're not even in the top 50. They may be best selling this week, but they'll be knocked out soon enough. And, if you want to sell Christmas stuff, you need something much more appropriate.

<shrugs> They're fun as hell. Their music is fun and their personalities are fun.
They don't wiggle. They don't even dance. They're certainly not boys anymore.
All the men in One Direction. They've grown up, they're music has grown up with them, and so has their fan base - middle aged women (and older) were well represented at the last concert, and I don't mean those in attendance with their daughters. Current sound on the last two albums is a mix of Fleetwood Mac, Simon and Garfunkel, Blue Oyster Cult and Roxy Music (the last two of which I adore even though it's not my typical genre). Not teenie bop stuff when they first started when they were teenie boppers.
Doesn't matter if he can sing or not, "Mr." Beiber has demonstrated repeatedly he is a spoiled brat, and it hasn't changed with his recent "comeback". Wasn't it just a few weeks ago that it was all over the Internet that he walked off stage and refused to finish a concert because some of the fans tried to touch him? Something like that; I saw the video clip on CNN. Personally, I couldn't tell you a single song he ever sung.
Maybe not in the top 50 best selling albums. But the "First Billion Dollar Boy Band", with 166 music awards (324 nominations), and track record that's not likely to be beaten soon. With a single off their new album, "Perfect", they have just surpassed the Beatles in singles debuting in Billboard's Top 10 - the only male group to have done so since the Top 10 made its debut in 1958. The only other person with more is someone I believe you like - Taylor Swift (she's got 12; One Direction has 10).
Quite possibly. But they won't be forgotten.
Oh, and Christmas music is piped in at the Holiday Market.
Gotta run!!! One Direction is about to perform on the American Music Awards!!!!

Just Red Carpet stuff when I left earlier; personally I don't watch awards shows, but BP's got it on.
Just a brief run-down from Wikipedia, since that's what you quoted for the Beiber comparison:
"Their achievements include five Brit Awards, four MTV Video Music Awards, eleven MTV Europe Music Awards, and nineteen Teen Choice Awards out of nineteen nominations, among many others. According to Nick Gatfield, the chairman and chief executive of Sony Music Entertainment UK, One Direction represented a $50 million business empire by June 2012. They were proclaimed 2012's "Top New Artist" by Billboard.[2] According to the Sunday Times Rich List, by April 2013, they had an estimated personal combined wealth of £25 million ($41.2m) making them the second-wealthiest musicians in the UK under 30 years of age.[3] In 2014, Forbes listed them the second-highest earning celebrities under 30, with the group earning an estimated $75 million from June 2013 to June 2014.[4] In June 2015, Forbes listed their earnings at $130 million for the previous twelve months,[5] and ranked them the fourth highest earning celebrities in the world.[6]
After the release of Four, One Direction became the first band in the U.S. Billboard 200 history to have their first four albums debut at number one.[7] Their third album, Midnight Memories, was the biggest-selling album worldwide of 2013 despite being released in late November.[8] The band's Where We Are Tour in support of Midnight Memories and Four, was the highest-grossing concert tour in 2014, and the highest-grossing tour ever by a vocal group, generating $282 million.[9] In 2014, Billboard named One Direction Artist of the Year."
And that was before the "First Billion Dollar Boy Band" title, and surpassing the Beatles record. Whether you like them or not, they're hard to dismiss as a flash-in-the-pan group.
But really, why I came back (before they come on the AMAs) is because this has been bugging me for over a week now, and I need help....
It's not Simon and Garfunkel, but I can't think of what this song reminds me of, and I know there's a specific song that everyone our age knows, that sounds similar. It's the kind of fun little song you might hear in a neighborhood bar playing old music, and when it comes on, everyone in the bar sings along. It honestly is bugging the crap out of me that I can't think of it.
Any suggestions? Joxie? (Don't worry, Stepper, it's not scary. Just the guys standing there singing on Good Morning America last week).
(Edited to add - Add one more to the four American Music Awards already under their belt from previous years. They just received another for Best Pop/Rock Group of 2015)

They're not in a man band - even you said they're a boy band.
Taylor SwiftAdmittedly, she's got a couple songs that I like. While I'm at work I'll click on a youtube link and it'll have different artists - I don't know how they make their associations - but a song or two of hers was included and I liked what I heard so I looked into her songs. Unfortunately, her last one won't be on the replay list. There's more Fleetwood Mac, Simon and Garfunkel, Heart, Gospel, and of course Oldies but Goodies.
Then they'll have something you want to listen to.
Is this a trick? You want me to listen to them in the guise of being helpful?
Or you want me to earworm on the first couple bars? Cause that’s where I’m stuck. I hear it too – the music starts out very familiar but I can’t seem to nail it down. I’ll let you know if I get it.

I think I'm hearing a version of Sea of Love in the first few bars, not sure about the rest of the song.
Does that help? Or is that a miss?

Hmm ... Dylan comes to mind. Supertramp. Little River Band ...
I turn it down low and try not to listen to the words in hopes that other words will pop in my head and put me out of my misery.

Add another award - Artist of the Year, for the second year in a row...beating out Taylor Swift - I just thought you liked her because you post a lot of the songs in the music threads.
No, I truly want to know. Yanno how something bugs you until you find the answer; this is one of those things. Good ear with "Sea of Love", just a little bit though, and it's not the song I'm thinking about.
That's it exactly - I keep hoping it'll come to me, so I can slap my head in one of those ah-ha moments.

She was really tired today. Let us put her in a wheelchair to take her to the car. Would have put her in one to take her in, but there were none at the door. Wish they would give her something to pep her up.

I dunno. I keep going back to Simon and Garfunkel or Paul Simon for some reason, but can't figure it out. Maybe with a little Otis Redding Sitting on the Dock of the Bay/Ben E King Stand By Me mixed in, along with Jack and Diane by John Mellancamp (probably just the clapping).
BP said the band said it was inspired by Toy Story's "You've Got a Friend in Me" by Randy Newman; I'm not hearing it though.
I suppose it's just one of those sing-along little ditties that gets stuck in your head, and unless someone comes up with something, I'll let it go (until it hits me in the middle of the night 4 months from now).
They did this to me last year, btw, when they released their previous album.
I thought Mrs. Robinson all the way, but there was a tiny little guitar riff that seemed to be plucked directly out of another song, and it bugged me until it finally came to me out-of-the-blue one day - Fleetwood Mac's "I Don't Want to Know".

I've got some words going around in my head ... don't know if they're apart of any real lyrics:
And we'll leave this world behind
And we'll tell this world goodbye
or you ... or me ... or we
for you ... for me ... for we
Still haven't found the song that might fit.

When I sent out my Thanksgiving Day link I included a request for others to listen to the beginning of the song and tell me what they think. One person responed with my original guess - Sea of Love.
