If you are having problems logging in, or staying logged in, try these suggestions:
Logging in:
If you get this message when you try to log in...
...it means that either your username or password was incorrect.
Login usernames (login ID's) are case-sensitive, and they won't always be the same as your display name (the way it shows up on the boards here). Even though my display name is Lesigner Girl, there are no upper-case letters or spaces in my actual login ID, which is simply "le".
When you log in, try using all lower-case letters with no spaces, and no special characters (no apostrophes, dashes, etc). If you can't remember exactly what your login ID is, hover or click on your name anywhere on the boards where you see it as a link, and get it from the URL (address) to your profile. The url to my profile is whooshorg.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=viewprofile&username=le . At the end where it says username=le, you can see that my login ID is "le", which is the name I use to log in to my account here. If you have registered here but never posted, and you have lost, deleted, or never received your welcome email from ProBoards, you may try guessing on the "forgot password" screen (see below) using all lower-case and no spaces, or click here to make a post, (or here), and we can tell you what your login ID is. If you know (or think you know) what email account you used when you registered, you can also try putting that in the box for your email address on the "forgot password" screen.
The other possible reason for login problems is, of course, an incorrect password. When/if you change your password, you should always type it in manually both times, instead of copying and pasting it. This is the whole reason for typing in a new password twice when you change it, to avoid screwups, and if you paste it in wrong the first time, you will paste it in wrong the 2nd time (and the same goes for a change of email address). However, if you don't know your password for whatever reason, you can always send yourself a forgotten password (as long as the email address on file is correct). Simply click on the login link at the top where it says...
...then click on the Forgot password? link. Type in your login ID (which may or may not be the same as your display name, see above for explanation), and click on the [Retrieve Password!] button. If you typed in your login ID correctly, your password will be automatically sent to the email address on file for your account, from "Forgot Password" at <nobody@proboards.com>. If for some reason it doesn't arrive within a few minutes (it should be instantaneous, but any email can run slow at times), click here to make a post, (or here[/url]), and we can help you out.
Don't ask us what your password is, because we don't have any way to see that unless you tell us what it is (which you SHOULD NOT do). Obviously, you will know if it's been changed. If you do tell us what it is, we will only delete it, because we don't want access to that kind of information. What we can do if it's necessary is change the email address on your Whoosh! ProBoard account, if the one that's on file is not valid.

Troubleshooting for people who can log in, but keep getting logged off:
- Are your cookies enabled? Cookies are what keep you logged in, so check to make sure your cookies are enabled.
Internet Explorer users, you have two choices on how to do this:
Option 1: go to [Tools » Internet Options » Privacy tab » Advanced]. Enable "Override automatic cookie handling" and "Always allow session cookies." First-party cookies need to be either on "Accept" or "Prompt" (I keep mine on "Accept"). Third-party cookies have nothing to do with staying logged in, and I keep that on "Block."
Option 2: [Tools » Internet Options » Privacy tab » Edit]. Type in or paste whooshorg.proboards.com and click on [Allow].
Netscape users, go to [Tools » Cookie Manager » Unblock Cookies from this Site]. - If your cookies are enabled, your session cookie (the one that should keep you logged in) may have gotten messed up. To fix this, delete your cookies (or just your ProBoard cookies), and log in again. A fresh new cookie will be created.
To delete all cookies:
Internet Explorer users: [Tools » Internet Options » Delete Cookies]
Netscape users: [Tools » Cookie Manager » Stored Cookies tab » Remove all Cookies] - Are your login preferences set correctly? Personally, I prefer using the quick login box on the main page, instead of going to the login page where the preferences are located. If you do the same thing, you should stay logged in for at least 360 minutes (6 hours), or possibly until the next time you delete your cookies.
However, if you are having problems staying logged in, there are a couple of things you can try. You can go to the login page and either (1) select "Always stay logged in" or (2) change 360 to a higher number, if you're finding yourself logged off after 6 hours and don't want to be.
If anyone else has some good tips that I might have missed, feel free to add them here.
