'CSIs' Cross Over for Sweeps
(Tuesday, October 18 03:12 PM)
LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) Like so many snowbirds do each winter, a member of the "CSI: NY" team is headed to South Florida pretty soon. Unlike those winter residents, though, he's only staying a couple of days.
The two East Coast-set "CSIs" will cross over during sweeps, with "NY" star Gary Sinise showing up on "CSI: Miami" Monday, Nov. 7, and "Miami's" David Caruso returning the favor two nights later. The episodes will engage both teams in the search for an escaped serial killer who's out to commit more murders.
The "CSI" spinoffs have been introduced in episodes of their predecessors -- "Miami" in an episode of the original "CSI" in May 2002 and "NY" in a "Miami" case two years later. Other than those, though, the three highly rated series haven't done any crossovers.
The sweeps storyline will focus on the hunt for serial killer Henry Darius (James Badge Dale, "24"), who has confessed to a murder in Miami and is being flown from New York to lead police to the body. When the plane transporting him to Florida crashes, however, he escapes and sets off a manhunt. Detective Mac Taylor (Sinise), who helped convict Darius of crimes in New York, heads to Miami to aid in the search.
The conclusion will find Taylor and Horatio Caine (Caruso) headed back to the Big Apple, where Darius has traveled with a hostage, leaving bodies in his wake. Their efforts are complicated when Caine is served with a subpoena naming him a suspect in another unsolved murder.
"CSI" creator Anthony Zuiker, executive producer Ann Donahue and co-exec producer Elizabeth Devine wrote both episodes
