"Better Not Tell You Now" was what the answer I got. Grrrr, here I am making a be-all & end-all decision about what to do with my future & the recalcitrant 8-ball comes up with that!!!!!

"Don't count on it" "My reply is no" "The answer is no" ...hmm...looks like it might be a negative answer then... ...thanks a lot 8 ball....

pfft I think the 8 ball needs an attitude adjustment! Very negative responses - Don't count on it my foot.. I have half a mind to prove the darn thing wrong... except it's proably right lol.

The omnipotent Magic 8 Ball seems to never die, but rather makes a faddish comeback every couple of years.
Reminds me of the Ouija Board I used to have - got freaked out by it and threw it in the dumpster twice, only to find it in the apartment again both times. Don't ask. Scary Larry.
Magic 8 Balls make me think of giant banana combs sticking out of the back pocket in jr high jeans, Dr. Pepper flavored lip gloss, roller skating rinks, feathered hair - ala Farrah, and Shawn Cassidy posters. Oh, and slumber party cranks. Great memories now, but I have no desire to relive any of it. Ok, maybe a little Shawn Cassidy and the lip gloss. Met her at a party and my heart stood still...

Hey, I remember all that stuff. Except it was Bonnie Bell lip gloss; some sickenly sweet fruity flavor. The Ouija Board? Never touched it - freaked me out after seeing the scene with one in the Exorcist. Banana combs - yep, stuck in the back pocket of Levis, because Levis were the only jeans one wore in those days. And banana combs hooked just right on the back pocket tag of some cute guy's Levi's will pull out nice and neat. We all had Levi tag collections - I'm not sure why this was done, but I remember it as if it were yesterday. Oh wait, <reaching hand in pocket to produce a freshly ripped tag>, it was yesterday.
One of these days, I'm gonna grow up.

Da do run run Da do run run! Omg Lola you just had to bring up Shaun Cassidy! He was the biggest thing going for awhile- my mother rather than buying me an album or a poster ( like a normal mother would do) decided to buy me a Shaun Cassidy shirt ( cool) and Shaun Cassidy PANTS! Yes tan pants with his name and picture on the pant leg for all the world to see-
Of course this was just a forerunner of things to come- Once again my mother felt compelled to buy something she heard was in- but didnt always quite get it right lol . Do you remember the rainbow suspenders from Mork from Ork wore? Well, near the end of Morks popularity she bought me a pair of suspeneders and proudly had me wear them to school.
I no longer wonder why I was ridiculed as a child lol
In self defense I quickly learned not to tell my mother what I liked lol Especially after she learned I liked the Pittsburgh Steelers- that christmas I got a Steelers bike gloves, jacket ,scarf, vest, hat and sweatshirt ( all very cool things that I loved - except I looked more like a boy than the boys did lol.)
Gee Lola thanks for that semi traumatic walk down memory lane lol

I never had a magic 8 ball...but I had a Jump Jumper...did anyone else have one? Let me explain. It was a ball about the size of a football and it had a plastic ring around it...it looked a bit like Saturn...and the plastic ring acted as a footplate and you put one foot either side of the ball and bounced around on it...not very successfully I might add. Sort of like a space hopper crossed with a pogo stick...who thinks these things up?? They were a craze for about 9 months and then faded into obscurity. Anyone else got a similar item from childhood that came and went out of fashion just as you'd managed to convince your parents to buy one?

Oh, those click-clack things. I'm not sure what they were actually called. Two round, heavy glass balls; like marbles but much bigger, and strung on a string - one ball on each end. Some sort of handle in the middle. The object was to set the balls in motion so that they hit together on the up-swing, and then again on the downward, then back up again and so on.
I think they ended up being banned as possible lethal weapons or something.

The one I have doesn't have a stick, and we called them "popper knockers" where I'm from. I still have mine.

Yeah...hula hoops are great...my sister's legendary with hers...she can keep it going round her waist for ages. Kids go through phases of collecting things...when my brother was a kid everyone was collecting things called Pogs...they were little round discs wth pictures on them...and you could get glittery ones, and Star Wars ones...they would come free in bags of crisps (potato chips)...they didn't do anything...I never really saw the point...

I can't believe you still have your popper knockers, Jox'...I remember them....mine were purple. I had to toss them after I put a knot on my brother's eyebrow one day.... That ILB1 can hoola like nobody's business..... I don't think I was ever programmed to move in that motion! I was "Queen Q" with a yo-yo, tho. I had a thing for Archie comic books, too.

Ah...pogs....they were supposed to be traded and you could also play a game like tiddly winks with them from what I understood.
