pero
To save time for the curious....
(not obsolete as per OED). 1. pero (per-a'a) name given to Egyptian palaces or royal residences. It is derived from word which first meant "great house" and was used for all monumental buildings. By the 18th dynasty word also referred to Pharaoh (from Tuthmosis III on, epigrams reflect this usage).
2. low boots made from short hairy hides, worn by the agricultural workers under the Romans. Hair left on for weatherproofing and to add strength.

Hey, this is cool: bits of information along with the game.
peri: (pir-ee) 1. a supernatural being in Persian folklore descended from fallen angels and excluded from paradise until penance is accomplished. 2. a beautiful and graceful girl.

feri
The feri are part of a Wicca tradition that has a mystery initiation and is predicated more on the ecstatic than on fertility. Sensual and sexual experience and mysticism of all types are encouraged. Risk-taking is also highly valued.
Feri wiccans often see themselves as "fey": not black, not white, outside social definitions, on the road to Faeryland, either mad or poetical.
If nothing else, feri wiccans beautifully exemplify both the poetry and power of transgressive behavior.

Very interesting, Maeve. That discussion has me hoping that mystic will pop by.
