Thanks for posting and lurking. Kym did a fine job with her website, and I'm glad to be a part of it in the small way that I am.

If one is good, two must be better?
I dunno, I just noticed it last night....and here I am again, and I'm still seeing double. Ok, who's been spiking my coffee while I wasn't looking?

That happens to me from time to time. Somehow it counts one person twice. I've no idea why. It does freak me out a bit. "Someone is watching me."

Currently I'd consider myself a guest though I did register.
My question is how come accounts have to wait to be approved before you can log in and start posting?

Because this forum has had a lot of trolling in the past. By the time someone with powers got online and discovered it, a troll would have thread after thread after thread, post after post after post of foul, disgusting garbage posted all over the forum. Members do not like having to weed through troll crap, so the forum has been set up so that approval is needed.
Thankfully, this hasn't happened in years, but the forum has been kept as 'approval only'. Very sorry if this is an inconvenience. I'll get on your approval asap.

Currently I'd consider myself a guest though I did register. My question is how come accounts have to wait to be approved before you can log in and start posting? First off, welcome to Whoosh! I know Mini-Mia has already answered this, but part of the reason for the delay is honesty. Several different sites do essentially the same thing - including me IRL. They request you provide an address and then verify that you gave them a legitimate address by sending you activation information. Creating fake addresses for the sole purpose of posting at sites that require it is tedious so it serves - as M&M indicated - to limit troll activities. I watched this site for some time before I signed up. As with any group there are bound to be differences of opinion, but the people here are friendly and recognize that we all have our own quirks. I hope you have a great time here. It gets to be sort of an extended family.

Hey Jox ...... anybody.
Having trouble getting on [ again ] first it was only when I tried to log in, got a message saying "cannot open this site, operation aborted" but the last coupla times I tried it wouldn't even download the site itself, same message.
I had the guesthouse open in another window luckily so I'll try posting this cry for help and see what happens ..... fingers crossed.

Ummmmm, seems like I'm on. Used the "&NOHEADERS=1" behind the URL and it seems to have worked, managed to log in and things seem to be working normally .... for now.
Shall see what transpires as I venture on.

Proboards have changed their login. People no longer have to create a forum profile, they can use any one of their social network profiles. I'm guessing the new codes are messing with you. Try putting a check mark next to 'Keep me logged in' and see if that helps. If it doesn't, I'll have to trot over to Runboards and alert Le our little problem is back.

Yeah noticed the new log in thingy Jox, maybe that's what's causing the problem, but that shouldn't prevent the site from loading should it?
Anyway don't bother trying anything just yet, since I logged in with the "&NOHEADERS=1" it's been working a'ok.

BTW: Le has it set up so that the bar at the top loads even if the forum pages screw up. It has a link that adds the 'noheader' to the url, and it has a link to my OpenHouse GuestHouse. I check there several times a day when I'm online. And there's a forum/board at YukuWhoosh you can post on too. I check there at least once per day.

You're very welcome.
Hey ... If you have one of those social networks, you might try piggybacking it with your Proboards profile to see if it nips the problem in the bud.

Hey! It's my Partner in Purgatory! I was wondering if you've been having the same problems I have, Katina.
I'm almost positive it's the new login block thingy; my problems this time around started about two days ago, and that's the first time I noticed the Facebook, etc thing in the login.
I get the "operation aborted" notice when I pull up the site, "x" out of it, get the full page thing that says basically the same thing....but if you back-arrow, it'll pull up the site, and you can log in fine. Once you're logged in it seems to be okay, cuz that box with the log in is gone. Although there have been a couple of time that a box pops up that says something like 'something is funky with the script; continuing to run it may cause problems'.
<shrugs> I wish I could afford a newer computer.

I don't know why websites update without making sure people with old computers can still participate. I guess they think everyone can afford to buy new computers every couple of years.

Yeah, was wondering the same thing about you P in P. and I think you're right about the login block thingy being the cause of the problem, once you get past that evreything works same as normal, so it's not as bad as last time.
