At first, I was taken aback by the idea of the doll, Mia. But I became intrigued by the discussion of it, following the article. Some very interesting perspectives, there. I may have recommended this website before. Sorry if I have. But it's an entertaining website even if you, like I, have no interest in romance novels. The ladies who run the site are just what they say, smart b*tches who love reading and writing trashy books. The language is spicy at times, so be ready for that. Here's the home page: www.smartbitchestrashybooks.com/And here's one of my favorite features, where the authors take potshots at trashy book covers: www.smartbitchestrashybooks.com/index.php/weblog/comments/white_horror/

Thanks, Siren. I learned of "Smart Bitches" some time back. Not sure from where, but I'm thinking from Jenny Crusie's blog. Then again, it could have been from you.
Horror is my main love, but sometimes I have to get my fix of romance. I go through the genres in waves. Or I used to. Lately I just toss them all into one pile and grab whichever catches my fancy at the time. When I've had my fill of romances I ignore them for a while.

My mom does that too, Mia - switches from genre to genre as she reads. She's just finishing up the Sue Grafton mysteries, and alternates them with historical romance novels and biographies. She is a voracious reader. We work on keeping her supplied from the used book store.

Great story, Gams. Just one man, making such a big difference to those kids in Kenya. Good for him! Here's a site that specializes in good news: gimundo.com/

Here's a site that specializes in good news: gimundo.com/Great story indeed Siren, a pity that people like Mr Ndambuki don't receive more recognition for their efforts. Here's a link in the same vein to a man I can't speak highly enough about ...... www.hollows.org.au/About_Fred/Nice site you linked also, some good news [ for a change ] is always welcome.

The world could use more Ndambukis and Freds.
So much disparaging news out there, and it's nice to read some good; I saved that link, Siren, to read about some of it. Thanks for posting the site.

I received this in an e-mail. It's cute - Tennessee Ernie Ford is singing with a group of children gathered around him. The little boy next to him is his son, and his expressions and actions while his Dad is singing is just too funny in that goofy little kid kind of way. carolynspreciousmemories.com/Videos/childrengo-tennernieford.html>The video clip a little farther down the page is cute too. It's a short tribute to Art Linkletter and his "Kids Say the Darnedest Things" show. Sap that I am, I was kind of choked up at the end. (eyeroll to me)

Yeppers, Siren, It's amazing how they figure out just how to cut the paper to make such amazing sculptures.

""Bluehenge," after the color of the 27 Welsh stones that were laid to make up a path. The stones have disappeared but the path of holes remains." Okay, how do they know there were 27 Welsh stones, and how do they know the stones were blue, since all the stones have disappeared? It's got to be more than a really good guess.

Very interesting article....though I can imagine myself squinting at my friends as they're speaking trying to figure out if they're a prophet, cheerleader, guide, or just enjoy harassing the hell outta me.
