Have you heard that Favre might be pondering another comeback? Geez, some people just don't know when to quit! Seriously? Pfft....missed that one. I liked him a lot before he got all wishy washy.

Me too. And before he turned out to be a creep.
On to a happier topic: congrats to Team USA, who defeated Japan last night to win the World Cup Of Softball in Oklahoma City. And they did it without Jennie Finch and the other big names who left the team. Here's to a scrappy young team, and a new crop of stars.

"Wrapped in his national flag and with tears in his eyes, [Cadel] Evans listened as Australia’s anthem played Sunday after he became the first Australian—and oldest rider since World War II—to win the Tour de France." Congrats to Evans and our Aussie friends! Fantastic effort, fully deserved after being runner up on two occasions. Aussie Aussie Aussie, oi oi oi !!!!!!! All I want is some football....... And no greedy ass owners messing with it. Welcome to Whoosh, always great to have newbies on board. ;D

LOL!! Kat, you are one in a million.
I am usually not one to trash talk. But I remember a little incident with the Aussie softball gals a few years ago (yes, I have a loooong memory) when, pre-game, they sent our star pitcher a photo of one of them hitting a homer off her the season before. Didn't help. Team USA prevailed.
I don't think the current Australian team is as brash as those gals back then. But I still carry a grudge.
These days, I am keeping an eye on the San Antonio Silver Stars in the WNBA. Their scrappy point guard, Becky Hammon, is playing amazing basketball. Yesterday, against Phoenix, one of the best teams in the league, Becky hit 7 3-point shots, shot 10 of 15 from the floor, 7 of 10 from 3-pt land, was perfect from the charity stripe, and had 7 assists and 4 rebounds, with 33 total points. And here's the part that always gets me: she's about 5'6", has a worn out shoulder that she's having surgically repaired after the season's over, and is 34 years old (geriatric).

Well we've had the entree now it's time for the main dish.
Home and away season is finito, Cats finishing second on the ladder with a 19/3 win loss ratio, and in just under two hours time we go into battle with the Hawks in the first match of the finals, winner gets a weeks rest, loser fronts up again next week .............
Go the Mighty Cats.

I've been slacking cheering on the Cats.
I'll leave the cheerleading acrobatic feats to Siren, though. I think I mentioned in another thread a couple of weeks ago that I did a cartwheel in the front yard, and pulled something. Seriously. Doing a simple cartwheel.
GO CATS!!!

You're welcome, Kat. I hope the lads do their very best. That's all you can wish for. The rest is out of their hands. Here's hoping in about 7 hours, the party is in full swing!! PS: A herkie is a cheerleading jump. I could do a sort-of decent one, back in the day. The rest? The toe touch and acrobatics? Way out of my league. But here's how you do a proper toe touch and herkie. This girl is terrific, and has the body I dreamed of having in high school: PS to Gams: You made me laugh and sympathize at the same time. I'm trying to get my slothful self into some semblance of shape again. It's sinful, how decrepit I've become. PS to Quetta: Indeed I have been, Q, probably more than in the past several years. My team is the San Antonio Silver Stars, my player, Becky Hammon. Sorry to see them get schooled by Minnesota, though the Beckster went down swingin'. As for the playoffs now, my battle cry is "Anyone but Phoenix!!" (I can't stand Taurasi's arrogance and potty-mouth, though I admire her skills.) Really, I'm pulling for the Lynx to win their first-ever championship. Seimone Augustus is mighty mighty. Indy has some wonderful players, too. Katie Douglas is a warrior. And Catchings is, well, Catch/awesome. Atlanta has former Kansas State star Shalee Lehning and OU's beloved Courtney Paris. Would be great to see the expansion team win it. Or really, as I said, anyone but Phoenix. Who are you pulling for? Is your team still in it? (After all I've said, I hope to heck it isn't Phoenix!

Once again thanks for the support guys, have to report though that ........ ................... IT WORKED. Romped home easing down in the finish, only dark cloud an injury to one of our best players, looked like a full knee reconstruction job [ twelve months out ] when it happened, but now appears it may be wrenched/twisted and he's a "chance" of fronting up next week, must be doubtful but fingers crossed. Seven days before we front up to the reigning premiers Collingwood, quietly confident we can take them. Go Cats. Had a look at that link you posted Siren, that gal is seriously fit, and I do mean seriously ......... still reckon you coulda managed one of those though. Sorry this is late, wrote the dang thing last night, put it on preview then forgot to hit post.

Excellent, Katman!!!
Siren, my team is Atlanta & my player is McCoughtry (and you know I like Courtney) so that worked out especially well for me today!! I didn't get to watch the game because I was at work, but was happy that they have forced a third game. Tuesday I work 1-9 so the chances are slim to none that I'll get to see that one either. Pfft. Actually I've only gotten to see a couple of games--due to work. The other night when Taurasi fouled out and then got the "T". Lord, she has a sailor's mouth! But, you do have to give her props; she do have mad skills and she brings that team together like super glue.
OK, gotta run. Just got in from work & wanted to jump in here. I don't want to go awol again... :/
GO DREAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hot dog, kat!! Yaaaaaaaaaaaay!!!!! Here's hoping the lads can keep up the great work!! Q, I think the league needs to do something about foul language used on the court. Players like Taurasi and LoJack have made an art form and a bad habit of it. When a player is repeatedly T'ed up for mouthing off, which Taurasi is, practically every game, there should be a series of fines, culminating with a suspension. The poor attitudes reflect badly on the league, and are horrid examples for the young players watching. The league can either make these players grow up, or, at least, tell the network to not zoom in for closeups during their rants. It makes the lip-reading way too easy! Angel is a marvelous player, and one of the league's rising superstars. As much as I admire her, I must hold a bit of a grudge: it was her Louisville team (led by Angel's incredible performance) that beat my Sooners by TWO points in the 2009 NCAA Semis. Broke my heart, and Courtney's, too: it was her senior year. But I'll be pulling for Angel and CP tomorrow night. I hope you get to see the game.

Got to see enough of it, Siren! Yea Dream!! Now the test. Everything that a championship series should be. Two teams looking for their first title, two teams very-evenly matched, power-house players...it's all there. My team has been Atlanta since they started because of my obvious connection with all things Georgia, so I'm extremely happy to have them in the finals for the second year in a row. Secondly, I can't bare the thought of Maya winning a championship in her first year... Anyway, I'm pumped and think it will be a good series. Wanna come over & watch it with me Sunday night? Starts at 8:30! I'll handle the munchies and maybe peach daiquiris would be appropriate...

Oh, man - what a blast that would be! I wish, I wish.... Ugh - the thought of Maya "bringing her team a championship in her rookie season" makes me ill. Guess I'll have to pass on the snacks. But if they win, I'll certainly need a drink.
