OK, we used to play this game at PT's and that's how it was started. I miss playing, so I was hoping we could play it here. I know we'll probably repeat a lot and that's OK because we have more and different players here. And then I'm anxious to see what new choices we get to make.
Play with me, please?? <trying the "batting eyelashes" thing again>
Sunset.
A ride in the country with the top down or a walk on the beach?

I'll play, TG. It must be that batting eyelashes thing. (eye-roll)
Dang, this is a tough one. You know I love the drive, and I've had plenty of drive-time while staying at my brother's house these couple of weeks. He lives about 45 minutes away from the hospital, down one of the most winding, hilly roads I've driven in a long time. It was a pretty drive through woods, farmland, and a couple of sleepy, one-stoplight towns. He asked me the last time we made the drive together before I came home yesterday if I was tired of it yet. Nope - windows and sunroof open, and tunes blaring to cover my singing, it was the most relaxing part of the day.
When I got back yesterday, BP was craving some time with Mom. It's Harbor Fest weekend here, so I took her and her friend downtown. We browsed the shops and stalls, where I bought them each tie-dyed fisherman-style hats, ate snow-cones, and listened to one of the bands at the marina stage for a bit. Then we ended up at the beach and walked for a bit along the water's edge. OMG! it was freezing still! (Though both LX and BP have been swimming in it already) The sun was just starting to set, and they wanted to stay and watch it go down from the end of the lighthouse pier. I'd promised BP's friend's Mom though, that I'd have her home by 10 and it was already after nine. Can you believe at 9 o'clock it's still light outside?
Nope, I can't choose between these two. How about driving with the top down down a country road and ending up at the beach? Anyone else?

Ah...thanks for playing with me sis--or at least making the attempt. Lol. I guess I should've started with something a little easier. Oh well, someone will bail us out.
Both comparisons were beautiful stories however. I can tell how happy you are to be home with your girls and it sounds like they were missing mom just a little bit too!
OK...
Driving or the beach stroll?

Post by Siren on Jun 21, 2009 23:25:29 GMT -6
Me? Driving. I love to take a long drive and listen to music. I visit my folks most every Sunday afternoon. My friends marvel that that 160-mile trip doesn't bother me. But the music and the countryside make it a pleasure. My cd case contains everything from big band to bluegrass, rock to Rosemary Clooney, country to Celtic Woman.

Attend a concert or a sporting event?

concert - I'm not overly interested in watching someone else play - your own children excluded of course.
Riding...motorcycle or horseback
|
|
|
Post by quettalee on Jun 23, 2009 20:27:09 GMT -6
See how easy that is for everyone... altho, that's a tuff one. In my younger days, I'd say horseback...but now I'd kinda like to ride cross-country like Jesse James and Kid Rock did (anyone else see that on Travel Channel?)... ...yep! Motorcycle Columbo or Baretta?

|
|
Post by Phalon on Jun 24, 2009 5:27:43 GMT -6
I liked Barretta, but loved Columbo; his bumblely cover cracked me up.
Sneakers or flip-flops?

Sneaks.
Eating fruit that's room temp or kept in the fridge?
|
|
|
Post by Phalon on Jun 24, 2009 20:15:31 GMT -6
Me too - I don't wear flip-flops cuzza my monkey toes, and sports-sock-right-at-the-ankle tan line. I'm like a mixed-up ostrich at the beach; I bury my white monkey-toed feet in the sand.
Fruit from the fridge....unless I'm picking and eating at the same time!
Bright and wild colors, or subdued earth-tones?
|
|
|
Post by stepper on Jun 24, 2009 20:35:54 GMT -6
Sneaks - I don't like the prong between my toes. Fridge Fruit - I very much prefer chilled. Although, as Phalon noted, picking and eating right and away has it's own pleasures. And for me, I'm an earth tones person. Of course, my preferences may have been unduly influenced by having been in the military. Bright colors make easy targets.

Nonfiction (most of the time)
Burying your toes in the wet sand or walking barefoot through the cool, evening grass (well, when it's a little cooler than right now)?
|
|
|
Post by stepper on Jun 27, 2009 19:05:53 GMT -6
That's not an easy call TG. Toes in sand to me means a beach, ocean, salt air, a boardwalk. But have you actually every tried jamming toes into wet beach sand? It's wasn't exactly soft or fluffy. College kids play football on the beach while trying to show off and they're not sinking into anything. Maybe near a pond or some lake where it's maintained the sand is more comfy. On the other hand, the grass has bugs, twigs, ants, and stains stuff. (Did I sort of mess up the vision? Sorry.) Of course, there aren't a lot of lightening bugs at the shore. The deciding factor is that I have tender tootsies, too tender to tempt trouble with twigs. Wet sand it is!

dishwasher or washing dishes by hand?
(I have never in 48 years ever had a dishwasher)

Post by stepper on Jun 28, 2009 21:35:21 GMT -6
Onion ringers for me too!
Dishwasher...allowing that there will be a couple of dishes and pans that simply won't come clean enough without hand washing.
Oysters or scallops?

Same here, on both counts.
Pizza and beer, or caviar and champagne?

watching tv or listening to music

|
Post by lolapalooza on Jun 30, 2009 1:01:18 GMT -6
Two answers for the price of one...
You say oysters, I say ersters so I'll order oysters and cancel the ersters. As long as I don't study it too hard before putting it in my mouth. Pizza and beer over that though.
I have to say watching television simply because I'm a bit of an insomniac and late night tv helps me with the zoning out. I have a beautiful flat-screen and an outdated stereo system so that makes the choice easier too.
Fantasy football or fantasy fiction?
|
|
|
Post by Phalon on Jun 30, 2009 3:58:34 GMT -6
Fantasy football - that's when Michigan finally wins a game, yes? Which is nearly the same thing as fantasy fiction, so that's what I'll go with: fantasy fiction.
Oh, and scallops. (Oops - I forgot to answer Stepper's "oysters or scallops" question.)
"Good Eats" or "Myth Busters"?

Tough choice but I gotta go with Mythbusters. I just love it when they blow stuff up. Oh and I learn something everytime too.

And "Good Eats".
Wearing a wristwatch or getting the time from your cell phone?
|
|
|
Post by stepper on Jun 30, 2009 21:40:35 GMT -6
Wristwatch. Partly because it's more convenient, and partly because where I work you can't have cell phones in the office area. (And I agree with the Chinese choice.)
Dollar bill or dollar coin?
|
|
|
Post by Phalon on Jul 1, 2009 5:26:20 GMT -6
Definitely wristwatch; I'm cell phone inept.
And definitely dollar bill; the change just gets dumped in my purse, sinking into the depths, and not to be seen until years later.
Cards by mail or e-cards?
