Great to see you and vox, MG! "Here's looking at you kid" Reverse in, reverse in, always. Oooh it crazes me, people who drive into parking bays cos they're too lazy. REVERSE IN.......DRIVE OUT! Now, where's my Little Book of Calm?

Board games or computer games?

Computer games for me. Playing against the computer can be fun!
Shower or soak in the tub?

Shower for me. Unless it's a jacuzzi, then I'll soak for a while.
(Glad to see you back, Stepper.)
Here's a "which irritates you more" question...
The grating voice of "Rosanne" or the nails-on-a-chalkboard voice of "The Nanny".

"Yes"--what Phalon said, Stepper! Good switch, sis. Those were popping in and out of my head the other day in the truck...I don't know... ...something while I was driving and I thought, "Hhm, that would be a good question for the thread." That sounds totally geeky until I learned that those kinds of thinking exercises are good for warding off Alzheimer's. The Nanny. Rosanne is "most of the time"; Nanny, all the time. Uses turn signals all the time or never uses turn signals (when driving)?

Gotta agree with TG on that one - The Nanny. And always use the turn signal, especially on the cycle.
Mary Poppins or The Sound of Music

The Sound of Music.
Feet rub or back rub?

Back!! Leave the feet alone! Carpeting or wood?

Hard wood with throw rugs! Love the variety and easier to keep clean.
Park as close as possible or back of the lot?

Uses turn signals all the time or never uses turn signals (when driving)? Used incorrectly is my biggest peev ........... sheesh why can't all drivers be as perfect as me? "Park as close as possible or back of the lot?" Back of the lot, the exercise is good for ya. "Normal" Ice Cream or Lite [ low fat ]

Normal, if you please. But if I'm on a healthy-living kick, I buy sherbet. The kind I like has no fat.
Minty toothpaste or another flavor?

Rain or Wind?

|
Post by Phalon on Jul 29, 2009 6:16:00 GMT -6
Since the wind here never ceases, and the rain is scarce, I'd prefer the rain. Please? Dang, we need it.
Bearded or clean-shaven? (For the men, which are you? For the ladies, when looking, which look do you prefer?)

Clean shaven definitely! You never know what lurks in all that bushiness!
Pasta or Potatoes?

No beards. I agree you never know what's lurking under all that hair. Kinda like a clown......*shiver.
Potatoes......nothing better than a just mashed pile of potatoes with butter. Or fried with your eggs on the weekend.....or french fried with your hamburger....so versatile.
dogs or cats (not sure if that's been asked yet)

It has, but this gives me the chance to choose the other one since it's six of one, half a dozen of the other.
Dog.
Having a guest over for a home-cooked meal or being the guest at someone else's dinner party?
|
|
|
Post by Phalon on Jul 31, 2009 3:53:23 GMT -6
A lot of it depends on the guests. I love having friends over and doing a simple buffet-style "fix your own how you like it" dinner....chili and all the fixin's that go with it, salads - one with greens and another with fruit, and such. Actual sit-down-and-be-served dinners though - I'd much rather be the guest.
Mowing the lawn, or vacuuming the carpet?
(I love cutting the grass even though it takes five times longer than vacuuming a few rooms. A friend of mine, though, loves vacuuming; she's even got favorite vacuuming CD's for the task.)
|
|
|
Post by stepper on Aug 1, 2009 13:30:18 GMT -6
Getting caught up...potatoes - I'm fond of fried potatoes but mashed and drowned in butter is pretty good too. Cats - nothing wrong with dogs, I've had a few really good ones, but at the moment I have cats and they're just too much fun! Guest - if the food is crappy you can smile, be polite, be glad you have friends who think enough of you to invite you over for dinner, and on the way home stop for KFC or whatever tickles your fancy. If you're the host, even if people love the food, you still have to clean up. I'm not real thrilled with that part. Mow. Even if it's hot out, it's "out". You can be "in" all darned day if you want. Watch the TV all night if you like - although you'll miss the shooting stars. Outiside is where you find the butterflies, squirrels, and those strange people who live on the same street as you called neighbors.
Truck or car?

|
|
Post by quettalee on Aug 1, 2009 23:30:20 GMT -6
Truck! Absolutely. Automatic or manual transmission? (I've been shifting since I learned how to drive on my papa's tractor, but at my age, my next truck will definitely be an automatic )

Post by Phalon on Aug 2, 2009 6:01:33 GMT -6
Automatic <hangs head in mock shame> I never learned to drive a manual.
Spontaneous or planned?
|
|
|
Post by quettalee on Aug 2, 2009 7:35:04 GMT -6
Sadly, I'm one of those people who wants to know what the plan is way ahead of time, especially if it's something like work or something "not fun". I need time to "get the mindset". I'm better than I used to be, but it's caused me a lot of unnecessary "thinking things to death" (or worry). The thing about worrying--99% of the time, it doesn't effect the outcome one little bit. It's gonna be what's it's gonna be.
Working first, second, or third shift?
|
|
|
Post by Scrappy Amazon on Aug 2, 2009 8:01:11 GMT -6
Spontaneous or planned? I can do either. Though the planned part isn't anything like worry for me. It's generally a fun day dreamy kinda thing. When I went on my road trip.....what was it two years ago now.....I spent two weeks before hand planning and dreaming about what I was going to see on the way. Of course it didn't turn out the way I planned it but it was still a blast.
I have done all three shifts. And I have to say the answer depends entirely for me on what the job is. I got tired of getting robbed on the third shift at the convenience store but at the same time it was super quiet and a good time to write those damn college papers. In the summer time around here third shift or the early one is the best time for outside work...hopefully before it gets to be a million degrees. 2nd shift kinda blows up your whole day. Takes the best parts of both and makes you work during them.
Sweet pickles or Dill?
|
|
|
Post by Phalon on Aug 3, 2009 4:26:26 GMT -6
Hubs is just like you, TG; he has to have a plan ahead of time. He's also a list-maker, checking off each thing to make sure everything goes according to plan. LX is the complete opposite - any plans she has, usually change three or four times within the course of an evening. It drives Hubs nuts.
I'm somewhere inbetween, kinda like Scrappy. Plans are good, but I'm flexible to change, and don't mind winging it.
Despite rumors, I'm not a shifty person. I've always worked 9-5, give or take a couple of hours. My favorite schedule was when I was in the Army and worked 6a-3p; when I got off work it seemed like there was still half a day left to play.
Dill pickles will work if that's all there is, but I prefer bread-and-butter chips - which aren't quite as sweet as a Sweet Gerkin. (Didn't he lose his head in that vlassic Xena episode, "Who's Gerkin?")
Shampoo followed by conditioner, or a shampoo/conditioner combo in the same bottle?

We use the microwave to heat things, but I've never cooked a meal in it. I don't even know how to use the settings other than punch in the number of seconds, and hit the "start" button. I have though - after many, many failed attempts - learned how to not leave the house smelling like burned popcorn; BP taught me.
Renting favorite movies, or purchasing the DVD?
I'd rather rent. Other than the girls favorites from when they were little and could watch Bambi or Dumbo over and over, and over again, we don't own many movies, (and of the ones we do, most are on VHS). I just can't watch a movie so many times to warrant purchasing it - LX, on the other hand, has seen her favorites (which usually star Johnny Depp) so many times, she can recite entire conversations of the characters.

Renting.
Lip gloss or chapstick?

|
Post by stepper on Aug 12, 2009 19:18:49 GMT -6
I'll come up with a better one next time. But I was sure I said thrifty! Bread and Butter pickles please! I knew I liked you! What's conditioner do? It's not on my list. Microwave - but I have a convection microwave. I've even cooked small turkeys in it. Purchase the DVD. If I like it enough to rent it, I'll be willing to watch it more than once - when I want to - and that means buying one. LOL! NOT lip gloss! Phalon - no comments about bulldogs with lipstick! Midnight walk in the rain or fresh fallen snow?

I'll put it this way. If I don't put conditioner in my hair, I can't comb through the tangles. Not while wet. If I try, I end up crying from the pain. It is easier to comb/brush when dry, but it's still hard to manage, and isn't soft & silky.

I'll admit being a fan of long silky hair - but I'm sure YOUR hair would behave itself and not get all tangley without additional goo. On the other hand, I wouldn'y want you to cry about anything! Especially if there was a chance you'd get frustrated with it and cut it short.

|
|
Post by Mini Mia on Aug 12, 2009 21:20:28 GMT -6
uh, I _did_ cut it short. Several years ago. (It was almost to my knees.) And I use the goo you put in and then wash out. I don't use the goo that you leave in. And no way I could go without some time of detangler. I'd have never had long hair in that case.
