"Thanks for the review....katina....written as if you do it as a professional!!" Gee thanks, nice of you to say that about my scribbling. "I'm thinking this might be one to catch on the big screen...wonder if I can find a drive-in open yet?" Definitely one to be seen on the big screen i'd say, it's a film of fairly epic proportions. Do they still have drive ins in your neck of the woods?

Actually yes, there are two within driving distance...& one of them is a double screen!!! It's funny, tho, because the last time I said something about the drive-in, the girls (ages 12 & 14) were like, "what's a drive-in?" I think its time to share this wonderful experience with them. (Maybe not with this particular movie, tho)
Reminds me when I saw the original "Friday the 13th"....college....there were no less than 15 of us in a van...I was on hands & knees playing chair to someone sitting on my back.....the things you do when you have no $$....lol!!

oh the memories. Have you been stuffed in the truck so you didn't get charged. My parental unit used to do that to me and my little bro. Like they didn't notice the trunk opening when we parked. I was so thankful when we got the station wagon...no more trunk space...
I saw the scariest movies I had ever seen in my life at a drive in when I was a kid. The island and the boat. a double feature that kept me up for weeks. Good parenting there keeping the trama from the young eyes.

You two are bringing the memories flooding back here. Used to have two drive in's where I live, and I was a regular patron at their friday night Sci-fi and Horror screenings back in the ................ well let's just say quite a few years ago shall we.
I can remember watching people crawling out of car trunks on a fairly regular basis as well. Great fun, trying to watch a movie with car horns sounding and lights flashing, but I don't think we minded it back then.
Give me a nice, dark, preferably nearly empty theatre now, so I can watch in comfort and silence.

That is some good reminiscing, Katina....lol....how about before the movie started....the ads for the concession stand....just like the scene in GREASE...with the dancing popcorn & the hot dog jumping in the bun...OMG...it was loud back in the day.....*sigh* Nothing on tonight....watching "PCU" or something...campy stuff about "politically correct university"....glad everyone showed up to play....

Yep, remember all that, getting enticed into buying all their goodies to see us through the [ often freezing ] night. Amazing what one will put up with when young and silly, as opposed to now, being old and silly.
Don't know what's on here to be truthful, i'll be engrossed in the footy most of the day, giving myself palpations as I cheer on the mighty Cats.

Okay, I is here. Sorry MG, been a bit engrossed in the footy over the last couple of days, but i'll try and make sure I spend adequate time here in future, after all, I wouldn't want to get grounded now would I. You'll be pleased to know the mighty Cats had a great come from behind win against one of this years premiership favourites saturday arvo', stirring stuff. Go Cats. Did manage to tear myself away from watching the replays long enough to catch Underworld last night, with Kate Beckinsale as a member of a Vampire clan embroiled in a war against the Lycans [ Werewolves ] Not a bad way to kill a couple of hours I guess, plenty of action, and very good special effects.

Finally!! Glad your footy fix was so satisfying for you this weekend, Katina....I'm in a sport's time out right now since I'm not a huge baseball fan & baseball is the game for spring. I usually get interested toward the end of the season & World Series time...especially if the Atlanta Braves are in the running.... I do like to watch women's softball & the tennis grand slam through the summer.... Good to see you....nothing good on tv all weekend!! "Texas Chainsaw" last night--the remake...boo! Guess that's why ILB1 & I have been tearing up the board all weekend.....

Yep, i'm as content as a flea on a warm hound all week after a good win in the footy. Take it the two of you weren't to rapt in Texas Chainsaw Massacre then. Saw it a couple of weeks back, and thought it had it's moments, nice atmosphere, but overall nothing great. I did see it just after watching Cabin Fever though, and after that turkey anything would seem pretty good. Really looking forward to War of the Worlds, which starts here pretty soon, Spielberg, the Cruiser and nasty Aliens, sure fire winner I reckon.

ILB doesn't do this kind of horror very well....she was alseep when I caught this one.....I'm like you, it had it's moments & Jessica Biel did a fine job....& what's his name....R. Lee Ermey--I think he always does good for his character. I had already dosed pretty good on the pain meds for the night, so maybe it was that factor that clouded my vision....lol
Hopefully I can catch up on some good flics & offer some substantial contributions here after my surgery next week....lots of time on my hands....(at least on my good side...lol)

Well, I am a third shifter when I'm able to work....so this time of the morning is usually my go-go crunch time!! This particular morning at this time, I am being held hostage by a certain 'amazon that we all know & love....
Depends on if he can do anything through the scope or has to open to repair.....he had to open last time & I was off for three months!! It's kind of a medium-sized surgery.....thank you so much for the well-wishes!! One good thing....I'll be closing in on that ellusive #4 star a bit quicker... ;D

And of course, Snipes & Kris K...I like this cast best of all. Later on tonight....NATIONAL TREASURE with Nick Cage....lowdown to follow..... ;D

Caught "In America" last night, about an Irish immigrant family adjusting to life in the United States, [ New York ]
Good film, contrasting the bleakness of their situation, and a past tragedy, with lighter moments. Never crossed the line into mawkish sentimentality [ though it skated close once or twice ] thanks in part to superb performances from the two little girls, real life sisters Sarah and Emma Bolger, and yet another remarkable effort from one of the best young actresses working today in Samantha Morton, as their mother.
Look forward to hearing what you think of National Treasure, i've seen the trailers for it, and it looks kinda fun.

Q were you peeking over my shoulder at the movie rental store? (I enjoyed the HHH role on Trinity...When we used to watch every week I always chose the bad guys to root for just to get the wrasling started in the house) ...Interesting enough I had a similar selection on my mother's day line up along with the last chapter of the LOTR saga, and Mean Girls. Now that was funny! Bubblegum, but entertaining...

Watched "Mean Girls" on one of the family nights...lol....truly bubblegum, but love to see them laugh....LOTR...so long....*sigh*
"National Treasure"....fun to watch...fast-paced & lots of info to take in but a good job by Nick Cage, as well as the others...& I didn't even know Voight was in this also...plays Nick's dad...we both give a thumbs up!!

true about national treasure. We saw it in the theater and I thought it should have been a Lora Kroft movie but alas Nick Cage got it instead. maybe they are setting it up to combine. I can see Angelina and Nick together on the big screen chasing after treasures.

Yeah....that's the one we should've stuck with--on SciFi, was it?--tried to watch Kevin Bacon's latest...."The Woodsman"....little too heavy for a fun night flic even just for ILB & I....follows Bacon as a sexual predator of 11-13yr olds post-12year-prison term....definitely not for family night....
Absolutely nothing on today, but it was beautiful outside & tried to do a few things I won't be able to do for a while.....at least not one-handed anyway!!
Will watch "Ladykillers" with Tom Hanks later...hope its funny!!

Have you tried this one out for family-night, Marysgurl? Just released on DVD, and I had to have: Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events. One of my favorites; a kid's movie, but not.
When I was the Library Mom in the library at my daughter's school, (dubbed the Liscary by Gabbin, cuz I ran the place - which made me the Liscary Mom - go figure), these books were wildly popular with the older kids. The movie encompassed three books in the series.
Dark; yet funny and full of wicked sarcasm, it's a movie that isn't just for kids. I took LX when it came out in theaters, and went with a friend, her nine-year old daughter, and her sixteen-year old daughter and boyfriend. Everyone enjoyed it.
Not a Jim Carey fan; in fact avoiding anything he's ever been in because I find him irritating, but in this one I didn't really even notice it was him. And Meryl Streep is hilarious as a neurotic eccentric. The child actors playing the Baudelaire orphans are perfect.
You gotta see if you haven't.
