K guess I'll go first.....Uncle Willy (Shakespeare) My all time favorite poet...except for maybe Poe....ok equally as good.... Doubt thou the stars are fire; Doubt that the sun doth move; Doubt truth to be a liar; But never doubt I love.
-- Hamlet's letter to Ophelia

I love that one too Scrappy. Here's one of my faves...(Uncle Willy again ;D)
Sonnet #XXIX
When, in discrace with fortune and men's eyes, I all alone beweep my outcast state, And trouble deaf heaven with my bootless cries, And look upon myself, and curse my fate, Wishing me like to one more rich in hope, Featured like him, like him with friends posses'd, Desiring this man's art and that man's scope, With what I most enjoy contented least; Yet in these thoughts myself almost despising, Haply I think on thee, and then my state Like to the lark at break of day arising From sullen earth, sings hymns at heaven's gate; For thy sweet love remember'd, such wealth brings That then I scorn to change my state with kings.

This is by Robert Burns,I love it.
O, my luve is like a red, red rose, That's newly sprung in June. O, my luve is like the melodie, That's sweetly play'd in tune.
As fair art thou, my bonie lass, So deep in luve am I, And I will luve thee still, my dear, Till a' the seas gang dry.
Till a' the seas gang dry, my dear, And the rocks melt wi the sun! And I will luve thee still, my dear, While the sands o life shall run.
And fare thee weel, my only luve! And fare thee weel, a while! And I will come again, my luve, Tho it were ten thousand mile!

If any of you would prefer a private place to post personal stuff, post your comments here. I can either create a "member's only" or a passworded board, or I can create a different ProBoards forum where I can make you Mods of your own personal boards so that you have complete control over what goes on in them.

I really can't remember much poetry off the top of my head, unless it is the rhyming in children's books, some of which I've read so many times I could repeat them in my sleep. One poem, though, that I've always liked is this...
I saw a star slide down the sky, Blinding the north as it went by. Too burning and too quick to hold. Too lovely to be bought or sold. Good only to make wishes on And then forever to be gone.

I don't mind posting my stuff here...so long as no one says they hate it...'coz then I might cry ;D
This is a poem I wrote shortly after my son was born...but it's dedicated to both my children...
A Mother's Legacy
Cradle in my arms little one and feel these gentle kisses, For each one contains enough love to last a thousand lifetimes. Carry this affection with you and never be afraid to share its power.
Cradle in my arms little one and enjoy the shelter of this body, For each bone and sinew would fight beyond death to protect you from harm. Take this strength with you and strive to use it against life's injustice.
Cradle in my arms little one and hear these softly spoken words, For each one echoes with the lessons of patience and compassion. Take this wisdom with you and use it to show others understanding.
Cradle in my arms little one and let us savour these tender moments, For this treasure I have to share my mother gave to me. Cherish these gifts always, and in return you give hope - the most precious gift of all.

Aww...thanks guys! I should have said that one is also dedicated to my mum...she's just simply a beautiful person - inside and out. I'm so grateful to her for so many things...whenever I send her stuff I always address her as 'my beautiful mum'...she still finds it cute!

ILB Speaking of mums...I have to share this little gem my son came out with the other day....(this proves he's inherited my sense of humour...) We were sharing cuddles and he said "you know what mum?...I think you're the best mum a little boy could ever wish for..." *he stands back and gives me a cheeky grin and says*..."now if some little boy would just hurry up and wish for you I could stay up later" ;D

Beautiful poem, Ann, and it makes me want to go hug mine, with their catsup breath and all.
Your son sounds too funny. He and Little Xena should get together sometime and share quips. Amazing the stuff they come up with sometimes.

Thank you Phalon...I think he and little xena would make a formidable team alright! ILB - that book is a very good idea...I might just do that! Scrappy - the little rascal is 6...going on 26! and my daughter is 9. They're both incredibly quick-witted at times...and perceptive too! It's quite scary at times

INVITATION
If you are a dreamer, come in. If you are a dreamer, a wisher, a liar, A hop-er, a pray-er, a magic bean buyer . . . If you're a pretender, come sit by my fire For we have some flax-golden tales to spin. Come in! Come in!

I was going to post this earlier for ILB...but as Q is now back (yay! )....I'll dedicate it to all those still apart from their loved ones. It's by Matthew Arnold. Longing Come to me in my dreams, and then By day I shall be well again! For so the night shall more than pay The hopeless longing of the day. Come, as thou cam'st a thousand times A messenger from radiant climes, And smile on thy new world, and be As kind to others as to me! Or, as thou never cam'st in sooth, Come now, and let me dream it truth; And part my hair, and kiss my brow, And say: My love! Why sufferest thou?Come to me in my dreams, and then By day I shall be well again! For so the night shall more than pay The hopeless longing of the day.

Darkness and Light In the darkness I can hear you Speaking silence with deafening cries.
In the darkness I can see you Crying tears from beautiful eyes.
In the darkness I can feel you Seeking truth amongst the lies.
In the light I stand before you Waiting until the darkness dies.

Questions
I wonder if I am If you are If I should Could you ever Will we never
Will this burn me Turn me Consume me Blind me Unhinge me
Can I speak to you Touch you Hold you Kiss you Make love to you
The answers I seek In your arms In your eyes In your breath In your touch
I need your Soft lips Softer skin Burning heat Raging desire
Come to me Hold me Take me Love me

Musings.....
There are times when those three little words become meaningless, and saying them merely an act of appeasement. When saying them makes the moment so much less than it could have been. And there are times when saying them could never mean as much as a look, or a gesture. A gentle touch, or your silence.
Is it only when two people share it that it becomes acceptable to confess? If so, then where in your hearts recesses are these feelings first received and acknowledged? How do we know them when we see them? How do we say it? Feel it? Breathe it? Live it?
How do I tell you that I have loved you since the first moment I met you.
