Gams, just Friday, a friend and I were talking about what a dynamic entertainer Freddie Mercury was. I don't think I ever saw a better front man for a band.
Begin The Beguine - written by Cole Porter, and made famous by Artie Shaw I Can't Begin To Tell You - recorded many times, most popularly by Bing Crosby That's How A Heartache Begins - Patsy Cline

LX and I were just talking about Freddie Mercury the other day, when we were discussing weird songs about bikes (I can't remember why we were talking about songs about bikes). Of course, "I want to ride my bicycle; I want to ride my bike. I want to ride my bicycle; I want to ride it where I like" popped into my head. "No, that's not a real song", she insisted. It was a while ago we watched a thing on VH1 about Mercury's life. She doesn't know anything about Queen, except Bohemian Rhapsody, and only because it's appeared in so many movies. When I told her Queen sang "Bicycle Race", she said "Oh! Freddie Mercury's band - the one we saw on T.V. Have you ever noticed that people don't know the names many band members except the really great ones?" And that Freddie was - great. It's a shame he suffered such a painfully sad ending.

"discussing weird songs about bikes" - LOL! I wish I had been a fly on the wall.
Freddie's death was, indeed, such a great loss. A man who loved performing, and made as many people happy as he did should have lived to a ripe old age.
