The Pages of My Mind - Ray Charles

Second Hand Rose ~ Fanny Brice and, later, Barbra Streisand
Father has a business, strictly second hand. Ev'rything from toothpicks, to a baby grand. Stuff in our apartment, comes from Father's store, Even things I'm wearing, someone wore before. It's no wonder that I feel abused. I never have a thing that ain't been used.
I'm wearing second hand hats, second hand clothes, That's why they call me second hand Rose. Even our piano in the parlor, Father bought for ten cents on the dollar. Second hand pearls, I'm wearing second hand curls, I never got a single thing that's new. Even Jake the plumber, he's the man I adore, Had the nerve to tell me he's been married before. Everyone knows that I'm just second hand Rose, From second avenue.

Before He Cheats - Carry Underwood
Right now he's probably slow dancing with a bleached-blond tramp, and she's probably getting frisky... right now, he's probably buying her some fruity little drink 'cause she can't shoot whiskey... Right now, he's probably up behind her with a pool stick, showing her how to shoot a combo...
And he don't know...
That I dug my key into the side of his pretty little souped up 4 wheel drive, carved my name into his leather seats... I took a Louisville slugger to both headlights, slashed a hole in all 4 tires... Maybe next time he'll think before he cheats.

Kind of (what our family thinks) is a funny story about Carrie Underwood. All of us kids listen to various forms of metal; I prefer alt-metal, Bobby is hardcore, and Mike fell somewhere in-between. There were hundreds and hundreds of CDs to go through after he died - all of them varying forms of metal - except for quite an extensive collection of Carrie Underwood CDs; I think he had everything she recorded. None of us knew he was an Underwood fan, much less listened to Country music, not even his best friends. Secret crush. It makes me smile.

next word: middle
My kids tease me whenever I listen to this song for a number of reasons....one of them being that that there sentence ("That all I need is to find the middle pillar path to sit like the sun by a star in the sky and") along with a couple of others in the song, are the longest sentences ever sung in a song. They love to sing along just to see if they can get all the words sung in the same amount of time as the vocalist does.
They never do.
