Are there any free online tutorials on how to format a manuscript using Microsoft wordpad for Windows XP?

These aren't specifically for WordPad, but you can learn the basics from them. 1-inch on all sides. Double space. Indent each paragraph. etc. I think you'll have to insert the headers/footers and specific page breaks yourself with WordPad though.

Some of the things I can't figure out is ...
1 If you submit a manuscript electronically instead of printing it out, how do you separate the different pages and chapters?
2 If all the pages are supposed to have around 25 lines, does that line count also apply to the first page of every chapter were you're supposed to start half way down the page and how do you start half way down? Do you just hit the spacebar over and over?

If you send as a WordPad attachment, then you hit the space bar a number of times until you have the pages set up as they should be. You'll need to add the headers/footers and page numbers, etc. too.
If you send within an email, I'm guessing you can leave out the headers/footers, etc, and just add a couple of spaces between chapters. Maybe give a chapter heading. Most websites will give details on their 'how to submit' page.
First pages and chapter pages don't have 25 lines, but when counting words you count them as having 25 lines. Last page of manuscript or last pages of chapters can have 25 lines, but sometimes they can have only one. You still count them as having 25 lines when doing a word count.
Yeppers. In WordPad that is what you'll have to do when you want a forced page break or to start half-way down the beginning of a first page or a chapter page.
Me thinks you're going to get sick of using WordPad for your writing real quick.
If I were you, I'd save the formatting for when you're ready to submit. Until then, don't worry about it. And I'd save templates for future works to make it easier and faster to format.
Good Luck.

Night Rick. I'm off to watch "Legend of the Seeker" on WGN, and then off to bed. Laters.
