I feel tears welling up, growing deep inside Like my heart sprung a big break And a stab of loneliness sharp and painful That I may never shake You might say that I was taking it hard Since you took me off of the call But don't you wager that I'll hide in sorrow When I might lay right down and bawl
Now the RACE is on And here comes pride in the back STRETCH Heartaches going to the inside My tears are holding back They're trying not to fall
My heart's out of the running True love's scratched for another day The race is on and it looks like heartaches And the winner loses all
from "The Race Is On" by George Jones

Ok folks...new game. Word ass type using song lyrics....I'll start.
I guess I should start with the song that we had at the other thread...
"Black Velvet" Alannah Myles
"Black velvet with that slow southern style"
So my word is slow...the next person then picks a song with that word in one of the lines.....

I Love You~ Sarah Mclachlan
I have a smile stretched from ear to ear to see you walking down the road we meet at the lights I stare for a while the world around us disappears it's just you and me on my island of hope a breath between us could be miles let me surround you my sea to your shore let me be the calm you seek oh and every time I'm close to you there's too much I can't say and you just walk away and I forgot to tell you I love you next word: SHORE

Strange how my heart beats to find myself upon your SHORE. Strange how I still feel My loss of COMFORT gone before.
Cool waves wash over and drift away with dreams of youth so time is stolen I cannot hold you long enough.
And so this is where I should be now Days and nights falling by
Days and nights falling by me. I know of a dream I should be holding Days and nights falling by Days and nights falling by me.
Soft blue horizons reach far into my childhood days as you are rising to bring me my forgotten ways.
Strange how I falter to find I'm standing in deep water Strange how my heart beats to find I'm standing on your shore

Lyin' Eyes ~ Eagles
city girls just seem to find out early how to open doors with just a smile a rich old man and she won't have to worry she'll dress up all in lace and go in style
late at night a big old house gets lonely I guess every form of refuge has its price and it breaks her heart to think her love is only given to a man with hands as cold as ice
so she tells him she must go out for the evening to comfort an old friend who's feelin' down but he knows where she's goin' as she's leavin' she is headed for the cheatin' side of town
you can't hide your lyin' eyes and your smile is a thin disguise i thought by now you'd realize there ain't no way to hide your lyin eyes

Lola ~ Kinks
I met her in a club down in old Soho Where you drink champagne and it tastes just like cherry-cola [LP version: Coca-Cola] See-oh-el-aye cola She walked up to me and she asked me to dance I asked her her name and in a dark brown voice she said Lola El-oh-el-aye Lola la-la-la-la Lola
Well I'm not the world's most physical guy But when she squeezed me tight she nearly broke my spine Oh my Lola la-la-la-la Lola Well I'm not dumb but I can't understand Why she walked like a woman and talked like a man Oh my Lola la-la-la-la Lola la-la-la-la Lola
Well we drank champagne and danced all night Under electric candlelight She picked me up and sat me on her knee And said dear boy won't you come home with me Well I'm not the world's most passionate guy But when I looked in her eyes well I almost fell for my Lola La-la-la-la Lola la-la-la-la Lola Lola la-la-la-la Lola la-la-la-la Lola I pushed her away I walked to the door I fell to the floor I got down on my knees Then I looked at her and she at me
Well that's the way that I want it to stay And I always want it to be that way for my Lola La-la-la-la Lola Girls will be boys and boys will be girls It's a mixed up muddled up shook up world except for Lola La-la-la-la Lola
Well I left home just a week before And I'd never ever kissed a woman before But Lola smiled and took me by the hand And said dear boy I'm gonna make you a man
Well I'm not the world's most masculine man But I know what I am and I'm glad I'm a man And so is Lola La-la-la-la Lola la-la-la-la Lola Lola la-la-la-la Lola la-la-la-la Lola

Young girl ain't got no chances No roots to keep her strong She's shed all pretenses That someday she'll belong Some folks call her a runaway A failure in the race But she knows where her ticket takes her She will find her place in the sun

The Ballad of Dorothy Parker ~ Prince
Dorothy was a waitress on the promenade She worked the night shift Dishwater blonde, tall and fine She got a lot of tips Well, earlier I'd been talkin' stuff In a violent room Fighting with lovers past I needed someone with a quicker wit than mine Dorothy was fast Well, I ordered - "Yeah, let me get a fruit cocktail, I ain't 2 hungry" Dorothy laughed She said "Sounds like a real man 2 me" Kinda cute, U wanna take a bath? (do you wanna, do you wanna, bath) I said "Cool, but I'm leaving my pants on" (she say) "Cuz I'm kind of going with someone" She said "Sounds like a real man 2 me" "Mind if I turn on the radio?" "Oh, my favorite song" she said And it was Joni singing "Help me I think I'm falling" (Ring) The phone rang and she said "Whoever's calling can't be as cute as U" Right then I knew I was through (Dorothy Parker was cool) My pants where wet, they came off But she didn't see the movie Cuz she hadn't read the book first Instead she pretended she was blind An affliction brought on by a witch's curse Dorothy made me laugh (ha ha) I felt much better so I went back 2 the violent room (tell us what U did) Let me tell U what I did...

Fly Away ~ Indigo Girls
Fly away little bird Find the song in you that no one's heard Strenghthen your wings as you sing your solo flight Through this short life Everyone's got a deep regret We try to ground ourselves to forget But your race to the end is neck and neck You love them, you love them not The birds of prey who wreck your nest, Twice your size steal your best They set you on this course of your collision

They gave you a corner room on the fifth floor The city lights were like candy to a kid in a store Like a king you'd lay in your bed so statefully So thankful they gave you a room with scenery
You always were so healthy, so full of life So seeing you so helpless just didn't seem right And how you kept your head so high I'll never know I guess you knew you had a better place to go Now...
You've got a room with a view A window to the world You always had your SIGHTS set high And now that you're gone Your memory lives on And I see you smiling in my mind With angels as visitors dropping by Your room with a VIEW
I'll always miss you I'll always feel the loss I have to remind myself that you're better off I gotta believe even through these tears of mine Wherever you are there's a sun that always shines And...
You've got a room with a view A window to the world You always had your sights set high And now that you're gone Your memory lives on And I see you smiling in my mind With angels as visitors dropping by Your room with a view

Shelter From The Storm ~ Bob Dylan
'Twas in another lifetime, one of toil and blood When blackness was a virtue and the road was full of mud I come in from the wilderness, a creature void of form. "Come in," she said, "I'll give you shelter from the storm."
And if I pass this way again, you can rest assured I'll always do my best for her, on that I give my word In a world of steel-eyed death, and men who are fighting to be warm. "Come in," she said, "I'll give you shelter from the storm."
Not a word was spoke between us, there was no risk involved Nothing up to that point had even been resolved. Try imagining a place where it's always safe and warm. "Come in," she said, "I'll give you shelter from the storm."
I was burned out from exhaustion, buried in the hail, Poisoned in the bushes an' blown out on the trail, Hunted like a crocodile, ravaged in the corn. "Come in," she said, "I'll give you shelter from the storm."
Suddenly I turned around and she was standin' there With silver bracelets on her wrists and flowers in her hair. She walked up to me so gracefully and took my crown of thorns. "Come in," she said, "I'll give you shelter from the storm."

Hope Vol. II ~ Apocalyptica
Hope is beauty, personified At her feet the world, hypnotized
A million flashes, A million smiles And on the catwalk she flies in style
But in this heart of darkness All hope lies lost and torn All fame, like love is fleeting When there's no hope anymore
Pain and glory, hand in hand A Sacrifice, the highest price
Like the poison in her arm Like a whisper she was gone Like when angels fall...
In this heart of darkness All hope lies on the floor Love like fame, is fleeting When there's no hope anymore
Like the poison in her arm Like a whisper she was gone
Like an angel Angels fall...
