"Get Here" is one of the songs I put on the first cd I ever burned for Mary. She was still living in AZ. We met on the old O2 board in Sept. and then she flew in for a visit the first weekend in Nov. Not wanting to "move too fast", I just threw out "six months" one night when we were talking on the phone as how long we would wait to see how things progressed. She just laughed. I flew to AZ two months later and we moved her and her girls back to IN.
I came across that particular cd a couple of months ago and boo-hooed through the entire mix. I could only listen to it once. Even listening to that song now as I type, the tears are streaming down my face. Not your fault, tho. I didn't have to click on the link.
It is a beautiful song and one that will no doubt always tug at my heartstrings.
<sigh>
OK, on with the game...

Now, see, TG, I just KNEW you were gonna say "Into The Night" by Benny Mardones. Great, great song. So very sexy. If only it wasn't about a 16-year-old girl as the object of his fantasies. As Gabbin would say, "Yick!" And speaking of sexy songs, here's another. Not Enough Hours In The Night - Doug Supernaw (country) new.music.yahoo.com/doug-supernaw/tracks/not-enough-hours-in-the-night--1084334Poor Doug. Last I heard, he was in a mental hospital. Really. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I hope "Get Here" gives you a GOOD cry, TG, remembering you and Mary in that wonderful time as you fell in love.

Lol. I wish I had said "Into the Night". I fear Paper Lace is one that's going to be stuck in my head for a very long night...unless maybe I can get sista Phalon to click on the link... ?
And thank you, T, for the hugs. There will always be sadness, but I seem to be remembering more and more of the good things first--moments, memories, laughs. I guess we had so many good times, some of them had to filed in the "bottom drawers". And time eases the pain whether we want it to or not. I guess that allows more room for smiles.
Like a great old song posted by a friend.
OK, already.
I'm Not Going...Jennifer Holiday (Dreamgirls soundtrack-the old one-from the clubbin days)

What a lovely song. And didn't Billy sound marvelous back then? If I was the ex-wife he'd written this for, I could forgive him a lot of things, each time I heard it. (Especially if I got good alimony!)

Oh golly, TG - when I was in 9th grade, we drove my pianist friend Patty crazy, insisting that she play "Through The Eyes Of Love" over and over again. Big song, back in '79, from a big movie for we girls, "Ice Castles". We thought it was the living end! Here's a clip (she skates to the instrumental version, then Melissa's version plays over the end credits):
Funny how young Lynn-Holly Johnson (the skater) looks to me now. But Robby Benson is just as cute as I remember!

When I learned that, I was so amazed. I'd never have thought him capable of such a deep voice. But then again, Jim Nabors surprised me too. "Surprise, surprise, surprise!"

You're welcome, Siren. I had to look him up when you brought him up and I thought, "Wow, he's as handsome as he ever was. And still with the gorgeous hair!
I was hooked on him after "Ode to Billy Joe".
I didn't know about his "beastly" voice. I'll have to go find it and listen.

Before the Next Teardrop Falls...Freddie Fender (country)
Don't ask me where that came from! Well...actually it was on a jukebox at a little greasy spoon restaurant where my mom worked when I was in Jr. High. It was located in Crescent City, FL. I would wash dishes sometimes after being dropped off there by the school bus and mom would give me her tips to put in that jukebox. That was one of her "everytime requests". The other one was "Don't Cry Joni" by Conway Twitty.
Now there's a little 40-year musical nostalgia for you!

Good song, TG! And my listeners used to love "Don't Cry, Joni". It was one of those songs what always elicited phone calls like, "I hadn't heard that in years. I love that song!"
My first job was at a pizza joint. We had the BEST jukebox music. The vendor would let us make a request list, and would bring those records on his next visit. We had everything on there from Christian pop to soul. And nothing sounds better than your favorite song, playing on a jukebox.
Better Love Next Time - Dr. Hook (pop)
I got to see Dr. Hook perform at a car show years ago, and they were still really good.

OMG, that's Robby Benson?! Thud! Dang, is he good looking, or what, with that run-my-fingers-through hair, scruffy beard, and blue, blue eyes. Funny, I never really thought he was all that good looking way back when; too boyishly gangley. But now....thud!
I'm sure I saw Ice Castles, but after watching the clip I don't remember if I actually did or not. I'm getting it mixed up with that other skater movie that I think came out around the same time - which I'm getting mixed up with the more recent Ice Princess, which I watched (again) on television recently.
Remember when some restaurants had little jukeboxes right at the table? You turned a knob to flip through the song titles, then for a quarter, you could pick five songs. Us kids loved those things; I'm sure my parents did too....at least it kept us amused enough so they could have that second cup of coffee after dinner.
