Dear Me - Lorrie Morgan
One of my favorites from beautiful Lorrie, from her breakthrough album, "Leave The Light On". I wore out that cassette back in '88, driving to my student teaching assignment. Whenever I hear any of those songs, it takes me back to my little Mustang, and my student teaching days.
For Lorrie, this song has very different memories. Her husband, the great country singer Keith Whitley, died of alcohol poisoning right around the time this song was released.

Dear God - XTC
I remember distinctly where I was the first time I heard this song. I was always a fan of the band but the lyrics caught me and I was like, whooooaaaaa.... (that's right, I totally said 'like') (and I just totally said 'totally') I also remember the jockey's reaction to having just played it, like it was the first time she'd heard it too. The little kid's vocals bookending Andy Partridge's made it super intense.
I think XTC was one of the greatest bands of the '80's. I used to brag that I knew '80's music from ABC to XTC. The old memory banks don't compute so well anymore though.

My sister was a major E.L.O. fan, TG, and made me a fan, too. Love those guys. One of my biggest musical regrets is not seeing them on the "Discovery" tour. My sis got to go, but Mama said I was too young (probably much to my sister's relief).
"Heart Full Of Love" is a gorgeous tune, and well worth a link:
