Neither! I say it's those. Having nothing to talk about would be tiring. So, lets talk about cars, or more specifically, options. Why you ask? Because everyone is fussing about the explosion in fuel prices. Vehicle manufacturers, desperate to improve the distance per gallon (or liter) are reducing the weight of the vehicle. One of the ways they've done this is, are you ready? They eliminated the spare tire (tyre for the Brits & Aussies) saving the space and weight. That's right. Tires are now an optional purchase. I understand the vehicles with no spare have a "repair kit and pump", but these are not permanent fixes and do not help with sidewall failures which means you'll have to call for assistance if that happens. I don't know about any of you, but calling for assistance from anyone - with the possible exception of family - costs more than what the spare tire would cost, especially if it involves a tow truck or some such. So, there's something for you to keep an eye on when making your next vehicle purchase. When it comes to tires, do it or don't it have this or that? Or does it have one of those?

How long does it take you to adjust to Daylight Savings, and do any of us even want Daylight Savings? I'll have to go to bed early for a few days to be sure I'm not falling asleep at work. And did anyone accidentally sleep late?
On the news I heard a report that vehicle and work accidents increase during the first week of change over and it made me wonder, why do we do this? I don't need the government swapping out hours to adjust dawn and dusk - I'm fine with the natural rhythm of life.

It usually takes me a week to get adjusted to it. I do like the extra daylight in the evenings, but it is jolting to jump one hour in time overnight. Maybe do 30 minutes in March, then 30 minutes in April ... then 30 minutes in October, and 30 minutes in November. Or just jump 30 minutes ahead and leave it there forever.

Normally I'd say I have the same thing happening to me Joxee - and it's not a fun week either - but I had a problem last evening and it kept me awake all night. I think my timing is so messed up now that I'll just stay on normal time and wait for everyone to catch up in the fall.

I did the opposite. I've been running on Daylight Savings Time (or is it Standard Time - I never know which is which) since last fall, and now I've finally caught up....except it's screwing me up! The clock in my car wouldn't change last fall, so I had to add an hour all winter. I haven't got used having the correct time displayed yet.
This, btw, has never affected whether I'm early or late.....I'm always late.
I like the time change, but it does take me a while to adjust. One thing I can never figure out though, is if Scrappy's two or three hours behind me. D@mn those states that don't change!

Thanks, Joxie. That's how I figured it, but wasn't quite sure. It's kinda like the spring forward/fall back thing - I usually have to think for a minute if we're gaining or losing an hour, even though the saying clearly states which is which.
The computer on my clock seems to be as confused as I am - I have to change the time manually, although it's set to change automatically. I think the problem started a couple years ago when they bumped up the date the clocks change by a couple of weeks. It'll spring forward on the old date, and I'll have to remember to go in and "spring back".
And I wonder why it takes me time to readjust myself - not only is my internal clock messed up, but the clocks I rely on to set me straight are confused too.

You could pretend you are in a different time zone and that your clock is always accurate.

HA! Yes, that's it! I am in a different time zone, and therefore, will always be early.

Beautiful, Palidin!
The forsythias opened here yesterday, the magnolias and crabapples are ready to burst, and the lilacs are budding. It's all too fast; lilacs aren't supposed to bloom until Mother's Day. What's a child supposed to do, if they can't pick an armful of lilacs for mom?

we've just had Mother's Day here Phalon and it feels like spring already! I'm afraid that I am a bit of a sourpuss as I still think we are due for more winter here! maybe that's the mood I am in at present!

I don't think you're being a sourpuss, Vox, for thinking it's going to get wintry again. Everyone here thinks the same too - the weather has just been too weirdly warm for this time of year. We typically get a snowstorm or two in March, not lilacs and crapapple blossoms.

... I thought I'd start a thread and let it continue on forever ... I have a feeling your efforts are doomed to failure, as nothing lasts forever ... not even popular entertainment. In line with your efforts, however, I will attempt to assist you in whatever small manner I seem able to do. At least until I can get my shuttlecraft cleaned up and re-fuelled. I seem to have wandered into an area I have little prior experience with and am not sure yet how to best respond to most stimuli. Until next time ...

D@mn, I hope you're right, Spock. The teenage high drama seems to be never-ending....
The Boyfriend's back, (the Loser Boyfriend). Grrrrr.
Oh, and I marked the shuttlecraft service stations on the maps in the glove compartment. The one circled in red has Krispy Kreme doughnuts.

Welcome Spock - but take the comment as an illogical human comment - with a large grain of salt - whatever expression suits you. Phalon drinks coffee strong enough that plastic spoons form a protective coating to keep from disolving. You may want to keep that thought in mind before trying out her circled in red spots. It's more likely a plot to guide you to places with NCIS coffee - hot and black. And really! Krispy Kreme doughnuts? I thought better of you than that. (Okay, yes, I dislike Krispy Kremes enough that I've gone without rather than choke one down. I sound like a chicken coup when offered one - BLUUUUUKKKKK bluck bluck bluck.) A thought for LX: Going back to old 'boyfriend' under these circumstances is like getting a carton of week old spoilt milk out of a trash bin and going "I wonder if it'll taste any better today?"

In Church today, I was looking at my Mother's shirt. There was a button on each sleeve, midway between elbow and shoulder. "You use the button when you roll up your sleeve, right?" I ask. (I've seen that before, so I was certain what it was there for, and somewhat knew how it worked.) "Yes," she says. And pulls up the sleeve to show me the strap inside that goes with the button.
I noticed the strap/loop on her back. (Like a belt loop, or a strap/string on robes.) Okay, I've seen those many times on the backs of shirts. So, I ask Mom, "What's this for then?" She didn't know. I say, "Well I see it on different shirts, so it must have a purpose. Or, it use to have a purpose."
So, anyone know what it is for? Or what it used to be for? Curiosity is killing this cat.
Off to Google.

You beat me to it Joxee, but I could have answered that you for you. When I was in school they were called 'fruit loops' and at least one day a year the girls would have a contest to see who could collect the most loops. I have no idea why they had the contest or what the "winner" won, but if you let someone get the loop your shirt was doomed to be wrinkly when you left gym class - unless you toted a hanger around with you and no one ever did that. (The hook in the gym lockers was a short straight peg. Trying to get it to hold on to your collar was an exercise in futility. All you needed to do was close the door and you'd hear a 'whoomp' as the shirt fell to the floor of the locker - which meant it was absorbing the scent from your shoes.)

Perfect!!! Although she already knows this....and apparently, has the stomach for sour milk, and obviously has no taste.
Which is obvious because she's the one that likes Krispy Kreme doughnuts, (washed down with sour milk?). I agree with you, Stepper - Bluck! To me they taste like sugared lard....if I actually ever tried sugared lard. Weird thing about Krispy Kremes, I think, is that before they were sold around here (and only in gas stations), the Boy Scouts used to sell them, going door to door. They were just as popular - maybe even more so - than Girl Scout cookies.
Pfft! I'd always hold out for the Thin Mints.

Hmm, those are the cocoanut cookies right? I like those as well. They don't have anything like that on Vulcan. I have a question but am unsure where to post it. Will have to carefully study the fora taxonomy before I make my attempt. It would never do to post something so important in the wrong place. On a side note, it's a real pain to post on this tiny iPad screen. Must really transfer this site's link to one of my full sized systems. [Added] Is it OK to post jokes in here or is there another, more appropriate, venue?

Tagalongs are a thin cookie with peanut butter on top, and it's all covered with chocolate. If you are familiar with Tastykakes they're very similar to Peanut Butter Kandy Kakes.

This year in our district, instead of ABC they used Little Brownie Bakers. There were seven cookies available. Here's the list:
Savannah Smiles Lemon cookie w/powdered sugar(NEW) Trefoils Shortbread Do-Si-Dos Peanut Butter Sandwich Samoas Coconut, chocolate over shortbread Dulce De Leche Carmel chip cookie Thank U Berry Munch Cranberry cookie Tagalongs Peanut Butter cookie covered in chocolate Thin Mints Chocolate covered mint cookie
Several years ago the lady next door to us was one of the distributers for cookies. As she didn't have enough space in her home we allowed her to use our house too. Literally, we had cookie cartons reaching floor to ceiling the length of the walls in our living room and dining room. (This was additional cookies - the original orders had all gone out.) Silly me, I actually thought we'd be dodging cookies for months there were so many of them, but it took less than a week and they were all gone.
