This includes any kind of programming made specifically for Television, and not Stage or Screen. TV Shows/Series, mini-series, etc.
I'm not of this world.
I get younger as I get older.
I showed up on one show that was in the 50s, then on another show that was in the present.
Who Am I?
If you don't have an answer, ask me a question.

You mean I was right, sheesh I just threw that in there to kick things off. Okay, try this one then ................. I'm a detective. I've been played by more then one actor. Based on a series of novels.

I'm probably being quite dense here, kat. But I don't have an idea.

Naw, not being dense at all, just cause you don't know.
I'm based on a series of novels, the name of the writer who created me is probably as well known [ and sometimes confused with ] the character I play.
First appeared in a series in the fifties, played by a very well known actor, then reprised in the eighties.

Ahhhhh, okay. Is it Mike Hammer?

Indeed it is, "Mickey Spillane's Mike Hammer", well picked.

I was thinking that's what it was . . . but I didn't know more than one actor had played the part, so I didn't guess.

Here we go...
I was played by the same actor throughout my series' 20-year run.
Miss Kitty's my sweetheart, and Festus is my deputy.
I'm sheriff of Dodge City.

Yep, Stacy Keach played the part in the mid eighties Jox, only ran for a couple of seasons if memory serves, wasn't bad though. Would you be slow walkin', slow talkin' quick on the draw ...... Matt Dillon.

That was the one I was thinking of. I didn't know there had been another one. Or perhaps old age is catching up with me.

Ah right, sorry Jox, I just assumed the earlier series was more well known. Darren McGavin played the part back in the mid fifties, before you were even a gleam in your dads eye, probably why you may not have heard of it. Think you're managing to stay ahead of old father time at the moment Jox, unlike others [ not mentioning names ] who he's well and truly overtaken ............ drat.

You got it, kat - Matt Dillon. Did you know that they first offered that role to John Wayne? When he declined, he recommended his friend James Arness.
Darren McGavin was in one of my favorite series. I'll save that one for later in the game.

Nope, didn't know that, they sure aimed high with The Duke, couldn't imagine anybody else it the role though after seeing Arness in it. Have a sneaking suspision I might know just what that "favorite series" may be.

I bet I know which one too... but I didn't know about the 50s series. I was born in 58. I'm one month older than Kevin Sorbo.

I'm 4 foot 8-1/2 inches tall . . . I can get away with still acting like a kid. Plus, I'm not married, and I don't have kids, so I really haven't had to grow up and act my age.

Good one Jox. Forgetting whose turn it was with all this chit chat, a quick check revealed it's me, so................... I'm the lead character in a western series, made back when westerns were all the rage. My quietly spoken demeanor belied my imposing physical stature, standing at six and a half feet, I was not one to be trifled with. It was actually written into my contract that I had to remove my shirt in each episode to take advantage of my imposing physique.

Would that be the strapping, rugged Chuck Connors in "The Rifleman"? What a hunk!
4'8" Jox? Why, at 5'2", I'd feel like an Amazon, standing beside you. Ah well, you know what they say, good things come in small packages!

I know a girl (woman now) who barely comes to my shoulder. In high school she told me she loved walking down the hall with me because she didn't break her neck looking up at me.

Sound like quite the dynamic duo MM, all nine feet combined. As siren says, good things come in small packages anyway, and how does that other one go, it's not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog.
Nope, not Chuck "the hunk" Connors, this one ran for an hour, and the characters [ first ] name was the title of the show.

"all nine feet combined" - LOL!! Okay, kat, my second guess is Clint Walker in "Cheyenne". I couldn't remember the name of his show, and will admit I looked it up. Good grief, what a big, good-looking fellow! I remember him from movies like "Night Of The Grizzly". You say he doffed his shirt in every episode?? I need to get some dvds of that! My mom has mentioned that he had a terrible accident back in the day, in which a ski pole broke and impaled him. Gruesome. But he survived, thankfully. Apparently, "The Big Guy" is still doing fine after all these years. He has a website where you can buy officially autographed items. I find it interesting that none of the "Cheyenne" photos he offers are of "beefcake" shots. I wonder if he resented having to doff his shirt, back then? www.clintwalker.com/display_html.php?page=/html/home.htmlYou know, "Cheyenne" resonates even today. I know of several little girls named "Cheyenne" (parents are usually western types), and a friend named her son Bodie. And I found a website you'll like. Lots of celebrity pics, some quite obscure: www.briansdriveintheater.com/index.html

I read somewhere long ago that that ski pole saved his life. It uncovered a tumor.

Yep, that's the guy, big, quietly spoken Cheyenne Bodie, used to watch it regularly, I think at one stage it was on a rotating three weekly schedule with "Bronco" and "Sugarfoot" back in the days when westerns ruled the screen. Never knew about the ski pole accident, or how it apparently saved his life Jox, fascinating story. Thanks for [ yet another ] great site you've linked me to Siren, looks like a real winner, some great old stuff on there. Don't forget to post the next game before you go hunting down those Cheyenne dvd's.

I work as a reporter for an independent news service, and encounter all sorts of supernatural creatures, such as a vampire, zombie, swamp creature, etc.
One of my all-time favorite series. And the original tv movie is STILL big-time scary!
I'll be temped to call you "high pockets", Becka!

Good guess, Becka. But this series is from the early 70s.
And, BTW, speaking of tv, your name reminds of of Kellie Martin's character in "Life Goes On". I loved that series!

Sorry I don't know that one. I wasn't alive yet so I just can't think of any that come to mind. Except Dark Shadows but I don't think that is the answer.
