"God'll get you for that, Walter." The one and only, "Maude". My dad didn't want us watching that show back in the day. He said it was too risque. But now I realize he probably just didn't like that "mouthy" woman. Man, Bea Arthur was fabulous in that, and later in "The Golden Girls". Like Eve Arden back in the day, you can't imagine anyone else playing Bea's roles. You were right Kat, our Siren nailed it. And Siren, my mom hated Maude too, and for the same reasons. LOL But I always loved her, and Bea Arthur is totally wonderful, Dorothy was the best in Golden Girls as well. ANd Eve Arden, love that lady for sure. Sounds like we've got similar tastes. Kay it's your turn Siren. XV

I'm a perfectly capable detective, only no one will take me seriously because I'm female. So, I hire a suave gent to act as my front, while I do the detective work. Eventually, we really do become partners, despite his shady past.

Good, XV, but not the right one. It hadn't occurred to me how similar these 2 shows are in plot till your guess. The difference in the early-80s series I'm thinking of is that the gent is suave, and is a former thief and con artist. The leading man, like "Moonlighting"'s, went on to big-screen stardom, which continues today.

Cool Mia.
Remington Steele was the name rattling the ol' brain box, but I would never have remembered the character's name for sure.

I'm at a loss here MM, was hoping someone else would nail this one. Is this a current series, fairly recent or pretty old?

The show had only one season, and it came out around the same time that Xena did.

I think Kat's answer about the actor is as close as we're gonna get.
Not having gotten beyond the commercial, I certainly don't know the characters name.

So I get a pass mark for that MM, thank heavens for that cause I was out of ideas. I am the eldest in a family comprising two sisters and a younger brother, considered an "over achiever", I'm an ultra conservative whose main preoccupation in life is money, and how to make lots of it once I join the work force.

Right on the money Siren, I am indeed Alex P. Keaton from"Family Ties". Great show, never missed it, one of the few sit-coms that I really enjoyed.

Thanks, kat.
Here's one:
I'm the captain of a grungy New York police precinct.
My crew is multi-cultural, and of all ages.
The people we encounter are colorful, sometimes crazy, and almost always very funny. But then, the same could be said of my crew, including a sharp-dressed, educated black man, a tired old detective who's just trying to make it to retirement (spun off his own short-lived series), an Asian detective who plays the horses and makes horrible coffee, and a younger, rather thick-headed Polish detective whom we once put in drag to catch a purse-snatcher.
Our best episodes involved a batch of "hash brownies", and a perp who thought he was a werewolf.
