Ready for the Turkey Leg yet, Phalon? (I would have changed it already, but thought I'd leave it while you were playing Whoosh Island.)
Kat: Keeping PumpkinHead, or want to switch to something else now?
Anyone else need/want help?

Who's avatar might that be? Mine? Phalon's? Felicia Day's? Delicia Fay's?
I don't think you'd want to date Phalon's turkey leg. You'd be too tempted to take a bite, and your wife might not like you nibbling on anyone else's legs but hers.
ooh. Or my Halloween avatar?
Hey. If you can get my avatars to go out on a date with you, have at it.

Easy, but never cheap; that's what I always say. This from a lady who last year gave out pieces of wood for Christmas Presents.

... pieces of wood for Christmas Presents. Charred wood perhaps? Charred wood could be considered a simple form of coal and it's my understanding that coal is a perfectly acceptable gift to give for this holiday ...

Charred wood perhaps? Charred wood could be considered a simple form of coal and it's my understanding that coal is a perfectly acceptable gift to give for this holiday ... Nope. Not charred at all. Phalon can explain better than I, but lets start here. You see, our Phalon, besides being a mom who works, volunteers at school, takes the kids to concerts, and to colleges so they can check things out, and serving as an environmentalist, and maker of Christmas wreathes as presents, and I think there was some additional Christmassy stuff donated for a fund raiser, and being a published writer, and writing for a blog, and taking time to post here too, (whew!), is a bit more artistic than she knows or admits. Which brings us to the Christmas Hearts. As I remember it, a neighbors’ tree was cut down – or fell down – and Hubs got permission to salvage part of the tree for fireplace fodder. Except that Phalon looked at the ends of the trunk in the stack and she saw something no one else did. Hearts. To the eye of the artist, the natural shape of the dissected trunk, the darkened core surrounded by a lighter wood, formed a magnificent heart. Phalon had Hubs cut the ends into 1” slices which she finished and sealed. Then she dressed them up a bit and attached poems and quotes representing something special between herself and her friends (even here the bard comes out) and she gave these out as presents to friends. She missed me while doling them out because of limited quantities, but she shared a picture of the ‘hearts’ and to be honest, she did the right thing. They were amazing – home made, hand made, nature made, and much better memento’s than briquettes.

Dang, Stepper. I'd forgotten about the "Heartwood". It would be cool, I think, to make more, but was one of those things that just presented itself at the time; I don't know if I'd ever find another piece of wood shaped similarly. The way you described them makes them sound much more than what they were - a hunk of wood with a quote attached.
Oh, and do you mind if I save the first part of your post? You know, to show Hubs when he rolls his eyes at one of my latest "projects", wondering exactly what it is I do with my spare time? (Like how I said "yes" when asked if we'd man the charity Christmas tree lot this Sunday afternoon; 100 percent of the proceeds go to the food bank. Four hours outside in 30 degree temperatures - I haven't sprung that one on him yet.)

Alas, the Union of Husbands and Other Helpers (UH OH), and the Affilliation of the Abused And Harrassed (AAAH!) has a rule to the effect that if I'm aware something I've said or written can be used against some other member, and you said Hubs would be required to waste, uh, assist - yeah - assist - for four hours when the temperatures would be below freezing, well, that falls under the 'providing assistance and/or comfort to the enemy' rule. Sorry. But, you can reread it as often as you like, and as soon as Christmas is past, you call tell him about it.

You know, Joxie, that I entered this thread dragging my heels, because you know I'd know what I'd find.
You know me too well.
Yes, yes, I've noticed everyone has on their seasonal attire, and I was actually going to ask you if the Imp had been lost in the upgrade.
I'll figure it out eventually. Still trying to get used to Windows 7 and where stuff is kept, trying to retrieve my lost e-mails (actually found a tutorial "how to retrieve Incredimail e-mails when hard-drive crashes" - really, that's what it's called; how handy is that? Got lost on the first step, though, and have to find a tutorial on how to complete that). Oh, and here - trying to get used to the changes here too. Like where is the drop-down menu in each thread - is it gone, or I'm just not seeing it. Spell-check, my long-lost friend - are you gone too?
What is a BBCode? I keep thinking I'll click on that and end up watching old Dr. Who reruns on the British Broadcasting System.
