I'm starting to think that 'Undercover Boss' is like 'Pro Wrestling.' It's fake. Here's why I've come to that conclusion:
A few weeks ago, one of the bosses was on the phone, and the mic on his ear piece kept moving up and down, yet there was no interruption of the conversation he was having. I knew the scene had to have been edited. And the boss had to have said that 'apparently spontaneous' conversation several times. Hence, the boss was saying lines. The show is scripted.
So, this got me to really watch the show with 'open eyes.' And I realized that the employees know that they're being filmed, so would the rude and lazy employees really act that way in front of the cameras knowing that their employers would/might see the show? And would all of the chatty employees really tell a total stranger about very personal crap? I can see it happening once in a great while, but every show? And sometimes every employee on the show?
So now I can't enjoy the show anymore. I thought it was real, and I loved the idea of bosses giving back to their great employees. But seeing that it is scripted . . . which leads me to believe the 'employees' are paid actors . . . I feel duped.
So, I'm done with the show. It was one of the very few reality shows I watched, and that was because I believed it was one of the few that was totally real.
I also loved/watched 'Secret Millionaire.' I'm wondering if that is real, or scripted? I really hope not. It would be nice to have one reality show be really real.
So, tonight is my last 'Undercover Boss.' I'm done.

It can be hard sometimes when our view of reality is challenged.

I hate when something passes itself off as real, and I find that it isn't. The same thing happened with 'The Ghost Hunters.' I gave it a chance, and started to like it, and then while the two main guys were in a van carrying on an uninterrupted conversation, the driver's seatbelt kept moving across his shoulder, under his arm, above his shoulder, beneath his arm. I realized the scene had had many takes, and therefore the conversation had to have been scripted. I never watched the show again.
You'd think I'd realize that reality TV isn't truly real. I don't watch many reality shows at all as it is because of it not being really real. Somehow a few of them duped me.

Undercover boss yes some could be simply because of security itself. Not many business would allow cameras to film their employees.

I dropped the show, but I still see the commercials for the newest episodes. There's no way this show is real. The employees are getting even more bizarre and brazen. They do things in front of the camera no sane person would do. Even illegal things. Definitely fake.
Too bad, because I liked the concept of this show. And also, 'Secret Millionaire,' which I'm pretty sure is fake as well. I doubt any of the reality shows are actual reality. It would be nice if there were actual 'real' reality shows.
