Gosh, Siren, I do that now. There have been some television commercials for horror movies in the past couple of year that I just cannot watch, or even listen to. <shudder, shudder>

I agree, Gams. And since trailers and commercials today seems to condense all the best moments from a film in to a quick montage, those for horror movies are often one eek-filled moment after another.
Bring It On (2000) - Kirsten Dunst as a member of a high school cheer squad

Fly Away Home (1996) - A girl and her dad decide to lead some orphaned Canada geese southward.
"Ed Asner stars - not as the boy, or the dog" - boll! I saw what you did there.

Gams, you probably know, that is one of my very favorite comedies. Makes me laugh every single time. Meryl is heartbreaking and funny, Shirley is strong, and maddening, and hilarious, Dennis is a sexy smart-alec, and Gene is warm and fed-up. Oh, and the great Mary Wickes is absolutely perfect as a looney, loose-lipped granny.
The House On The Edge Of The Park (1980) - Ugly, violent film of two creeps attacking the snobbish guests at a posh party

Dark City - an aussie and u.s co production, a dark and meandering Sci-Fi flick that's pretty hard to sit through, which is probably why I haven't managed to get to the end of it. Oh and here's a little something for Siren .........

Dark Water - (2005) a horror movie starring Jennifer Connelly

Kat, you pumpkin-pitcher, you! That's two Jennifer Connelly films in a row, there. Just out of curiousity, I drilled to see what film JConn chose to follow-up her Oscar-winning film, "A Beautiful Mind". It was "Hulk". Clearly, she chose to cash in with a big, dumb, crowd-pleaser film while she was hot. (And who can blame her? imdb.com says she made $1.5 million for it.) She then went right back to the more serious stuff with "House of Sand And Fog" (I love that title), then "Dark Water". ~~~~~~ The Dark Angel (1935) - A great cast (Merle Oberon, Frederic March, and Herbert Marshall) stars in this tale of three childhood friends whose lives are shattered by love and WWI. Beautiful, romantic film with three beautiful stars. I haven't seen it since I was a kid. So, it might not impress me as much now. But with that cast, how can you go wrong? BTW, that's actually Fredric March on the right, Herbert Marshall on the left, instead of what the poster says. A couple of bits of trivia: actor Herbert Marshall really did lose a leg in WWI. He had a long, successful acting career after his injury. Also, Leslie Howard (Ashley from "Gone With The Wind") was originally cast to play the Fredric March role, but, according to imdb.com, dropped out when his affair with co-star Merle Oberon ended.

Jennifer was also in that film, along with Ed Harris, in which some of the scenes were shot here in town. The off-beat movie was originally called "What's Wrong With Virginia", but was released as "Virginia". I haven't seen it, but a friend said it was good, but quirky enough to leave you scratching your head.
Angel Heart - 1987, a dark mystery/thriller starring Robert De Niro, Mickey Rourke, and Lisa Bonet. I remember Bonet's performance causing quite a stir after playing so long as Bill Cosby's daughter, Denise Huxtable, on The Cosby Show.

Ed Harris *sigh* attended the University of Oklahoma school of theater. Even if he's not from here, we can still claim a bit of him. Very neat that the film was shot in your town! Oklahoma was the shooting site last year of "August: Osage County", an upcoming film with Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts that's getting Oscar buzz. newsok.com/movie-set-in-oklahoma-with-meryl-streep-julia-roberts-gets-rare-standing-ovation/article/3881287Oh gosh, "Angel Heart" - uniquely beautiful Lisa Bonet out-twerking Miley before that silly term was ever invented. Raised a big controversy at the time, just as Miley has. And with the same goal: a young, teen-idol star demanding to be seen as adult. ~~~~~~~~ Date With An Angel (1987) - A man finds an injured angel, upsetting his fiancee'. With "All My Children" star Michael Knight (attempting to break away from his soap opera stardom), Phoebe Cates (wasted in this), and French star Emmanuelle Beart. Embarrassing, dumb film, redeemed only a bit by Beart's ethereal beauty.

Wow, a 10-minute standing ovation! And it stars Meryl Streep!! A must-see for sure.

"History Is Made At Night (1937) - "Irene Vail falls for a charming Parisian, but her insanely jealous ex-husband will do anything to get her back." Charles Boyer and Jean Arthur star. Don't miss the spectacular shipwreck scene at the end! www.imdb.com/title/tt0029002/?ref_=fn_al_tt_2What a good movie! Want to watch it?

Oooo, yes - when I have more time. You guys recommend so many movies that sound interesting, that it'll be cool to finally see one! (Is part 2 on Youtube also?)
History of the World: Part I - (1981) by Mel Brooks. What can you say about this one? You don't want to laugh, but you can't help yourself. Stupid funny.

Yes, Gams, I saw all 4 pieces of "History Is Made At Night" on youtube. Not sure how good the quality is. Keep an eye out for it on Turner Classic Movies; it'll probably be a better print.
Between Two Worlds (1944) - Eleanor Parker (who passed away this week at age 91) and John Garfield star as a young couple who awake on a ship bound for the afterlife.

Will do, Siren. Thanks for the tip.
This may be stretching a bit, taking the word "two" and exchanging it for the numeral "2", but just caught this movie on television again recently, so it popped into my head, and stuck there.
The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 - (2009) Stars John Travolta (he plays such a good over-the-top bad guy) and Denzel Washington in fast drama on a fast train. Remake of a 70s movie of the same name.

Hey - don't talk about my friend like that!! The Day The Fish Came Out (1967) - Undercover government officials trying to retrieve bombs lost in the Aegean Sea are mistaken for homosexuals. A disastrous comedy. Candice Bergen later admitted that she accepted her role in it only because it was shot in Greece.
