Oooooo, nice. And, while waiting for it, it gives you a nearly a month to collect recipes.

Yeah, it's me, of all people, bringing up this thread in early November, loooong before I usually even start thinking about Christmas. Shoot, the jack-o-lanterns haven't even started to rot yet! But I had one of those brilliant ideas that actually panned out the other day. You all know by now that every year I get the girls a Christmas ornament; LX's Boyfriend has been added into the tradition also. I found the perfect ornament for each LX and him on-line about a month ago and saved the link to go back to when it got closer to my typical "oh-my-god, Christmas is next week! I've got to get this stuff ordered!" I was wondering what kind of ornament to get BP though - something that relates to college? Her major maybe? Then last week happened....and I searched and found this: www.lenox.com/products/my-scooter-ornament?variant=29972310556769&msclkid=9b4b99b866621c070a0dc402a5cc950d&utm_source=bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=**LP%20-%20Shop%20-%20NonTM%20-%20Home%20Goods%20-%20D%C3%A9cor%20-%20Ornaments&utm_term=4584963490155094&utm_content=873560%20%7C%20My%20Scooter%20Ornament%20by%20Lenox%20%7C%20%2460This has been BP's chosen mode of transportation while at college. Not a typical choice to get around campus, but there are a few other students who ride them also, and BP says whenever they see one another, they always do that kind of 'what's up' head nod that says 'yeah, I ride a scooter too.' After her accident on it last week, a scooter ornament was a clear choice - after-all, the ornaments I get them almost always relates the particular year I get them. See that little place on the ornament where you can have it personalized. I almost chose to personalize it with "Face-plant '19". I even had it typed out, and previewed what it would look like before changing my mind to her name and the year. Sometimes my kids just don't appreciate my sense of humor.

BP's ornament was delivered yesterday...and I don't know how long it was sitting outside on the front porch before I noticed it was there. The problem, of course, that it's porcelain - bringing it inside after it was out in 25 degree cold, and it would crack. (That happened once to me when my sister-in-law sent some ceramic coffee mugs - each and every one of them broke once they warmed up, and they weren't even as delicate as porcelain.)
I unwrapped the ornament, and it was very cold to the touch. I put it in our unheated mudroom, which is about 45 degrees, hoping a slower warm-up time will prevent it from breaking. Fingers crossed.

OOOH.....coming from a state where it never gets that cold I would never think to have to do that! THough I do remember to take my CD's out of my car in spring. Fingers crossed.

Yeah, I learned that glass, porcelain, and ceramic things need to warm up slowly the hard way when all those mugs from sis-in-law broke years ago. Hubs got a reminder last winter - he was was snow-blowing the driveway, and when finished, came in for a cup of coffee. He'd taken a cup of coffee out to the garage before he started, and refilled the same mug when he came back in, not thinking about how cold it got while he was doing the driveway. The mug didn't break when he poured in the coffee, but the handle snapped off as soon as he picked up the mug. Luckily, the mug filled with hot coffee remained on the counter.
Yanno, I've never thought to do that!

I heard from one of my long-time repeat customers at the Holiday Market - she has a standing order for a big basket for her front porch, and two smaller table arrangements for indoors every year. This year though, she won't be decorating at all because she's having a hip replacement the week before Christmas! Normally a bubbly person, always active in some kind of community project or another throughout the year but especially around the holidays, she sounded kind of down in the dumps - must be tough to know you're going to be out-of-commission so to speak during a favorite holiday season. She lives alone, and with her hip in constant pain, is not getting around very well now even in her own home.
I offered to bring her lunch one day before the surgery - that perked her up some, and thinking about bringing her a table arrangement also just to make her house a little cheery for the holidays. She has someone staying with her for a few days after her surgery, but afterward, since I'm off work now for the winter, I can run errands for her and stuff like that. She's a really nice lady - I hope the surgery goes well and enables her to get back to her active self.
Noticed people throughout town are putting their Christmas lights up already. Other people, myself included, still have their fall decorations out. The Christmas season for me does not start until after Thanksgiving - until then, it is fall.

There are several people and sites mentioning there are fewer days between T-Day and C-Day this year. Some of the retailers are starting sales earlier because of the fewer number of days - something like six less shopping days compared to last year. One SIL in PA had one done and needs the other one done too, but she's got some kind of skin condition that has to be resolved first and they've been working on that for more than a year - something related to auto-immune conditions. She and Steppets' mother have been dependent on another SIL for transportation for some time now but in the past couple of months she's also developed a serious hip problem and the Dr told her she's got to get it done soon. This one is going in Dec 6. Basically they've said sorry but with no transportation C-Day is delayed to next year. I told them we're all old enough and know what it's really about - presents aren't necessary but they didn't seem overly receptive to the idea. I guess we'll just wait and see how things work out. Bro in NJ had a shoulder replacement last week - I don't understand all of it but the Drs didn't replace the shoulder - they reversed it. The ball joint and socket for his right shoulder were literally reversed and screwed in. Drs say he'll be fine but can no long lift heavy objects so no volunteering to shovel sidewalk snow for the church - Bro says he's pretty sure not volunteering to shovel snow any more isn't going to be all that disappointing. And all this time I thought he liked being in a snowy area!

Hope both your Sister-in-law and Brother are recovering nicely, and without complications.
Whew, what a day! Second and last Saturday of the Holiday Market, and I did exceptionally well this year - (though not well enough to pay for the new furnace! HA!). It was by far my best year yet, and its always lots of fun, but glad it's over for another year, because it's lots of work too!
This is kind of funny - actually, I think it's very funny in a "WTF?! How did this happen, and what to do about it" kind of way. After the market, Hubs and I went to a tavern downtown for dinner - I have been craving a hamburger for a couple of weeks now, and they have the best burgers in town; I especially like their Southwest burgers, and I wasn't disappointed.
Anyway, when we get home, I check my e-mail. I ordered a bunch of Christmas gifts on-line earlier this week, and some of the things were supposed to be delivered today. Sure enough, there was a delivery confirmation, but no package. Hubs said he hadn't seen anything either, earlier in the day while I was at the market. Checked the side door and back door just to be sure, and nothing.
Before I started knocking on neighbors' doors to see if maybe the delivery person left the package there, I pulled up the tracking. Half of the order shipped, it was delivered this morning at 11:37am, addressed to me, at my street address....in a city in Michigan I'd never even heard of!!!
Called the company - J.C. Penny. I'd never ordered anything from them before, but they were having a huge cyber-Monday sale on bedding and linens, and LX had a comforter and sheet set on her wish list, and BP had on hers a thick mattress topper because the dorm mattresses are thin as cardboard; socks were also on both girls' wish lists so I ordered those too. The sheets and socks were shipped; the comforter and mattress topper are supposed to be shipped Monday.
If there isn't anything to done about what had already been delivered to some erroneous city, I thought I could at least change the address to the correct one so the items have haven't shipped yet would be sent to the correct address. The sheets and socks were the cheapest items, and if I was out the money for that, at least the more expensive items wouldn't be lost. Not so. Apparently it was my fault because I'd typed in the wrong city and zip code...or so I was told. South Haven...Grand Ledge. Does anything in the spelling of those two cities look even remotely similar? Yeah, I didn't think so either. Only the first number of the zip codes are the same. Definitely not something I'd pull out of thin air and type. Everything on the confirmation page when I placed the order on-line looked fine, and the e-mail confirmation I received only showed what I'd ordered, not the delivery address.
They couldn't change the address on the items to be shipped; they couldn't cancel the order. The only thing they could do was tell me to take up the matter with my bank. I hang up with J.C. Penny, and wonder WTF to do. Here's where it gets funny. Or at least I think so. Getting creative and using my extremely honed two-minute drill expertise, I start drilling. No one in that city with my name, but there is a house with our street address - a cute little ranch style house, and I was hoping the people who lived there were nice.
I start extensively drilling the address, and finally find a names and a phone number for the address on a "people finder" type site....with "deceased" next to the man's name, but nothing next to the woman's name. I call the number. It's out of service. I drill the woman's name, thinking maybe she's the wife, and I can find an alternate phone number. Nothing.
Go back to drilling the address, and find an on-line phone book for the city. Look up the woman's name - there is no listing. What city has an on-line phone book? And check this out - what phone book list names alphabetically by first name?! I've never seen such a thing. Figure it's gotta be a small city and start looking through the listings only checking the street addresses for a match. Seems to go on forever, but I'm on a mission. Get through the entire thing, and though there were lots of listings for the street name, there was no exact address match. But...
...there was a listing for an address four numbers apart! Since even house numbers are typically on one side of the street, and odd numbers on the other, this house would have to be two houses away from the one I was looking for. Do I dare call some stranger and try to explain the situation and why I need his neighbor's name and hopefully phone number without sounding like a complete idiot? No way not to sound like an idiot, but hell yeah, call the guy!
We talked for a while. Nice man, lived there his whole life. We talked about the couple who lived in the house - the man and wife whose number I first found; yes they lived there, but it's been years and years. The whole street has changed in the last few years, and he doesn't know many of his neighbors very well anymore...and unfortunately for me, he doesn't know the people who live two houses down from him at all; he thinks they might have moved in a little more than a year or maybe two years ago, but he's not sure. Why don't I try calling the police department and see if they can do anything?
Why don't I? I do.
I get dispatch and I start off by verifying I'm calling a non-emergency number. Dispatcher (nice woman), says yes, it's a non-emergency number. I reiterate I'm calling about a complete non-emergency, and if for any reason, she feels I'm wasting her time in anyway, or if another call comes in, that in no way does she have to continue speaking with me. Once that's clear, I explain the situation.
She suggests very nicely that I take the matter up with the J.C. Penny; there's nothing the police can do to get my money back for items delivered to the wrong address. I think I audibly laughed.
No, no, no - that's not what I'm asking, I say. I explain I'm trying to find out who lives at a particular address, and I know it's a long shot, but am wondering there is anyway the police may be able to help, because there are more packages on the way to that particular address. "I'll put a call out to an officer", she says, "and we'll see what we can do".
Five minutes later a police officer calls. "Did the dispatcher explain the situation?" I ask, somewhat sheepishly. "She did briefly, but can you provide all the details?" I do, to include profusely apologizing for what is probably the strangest call he's ever received (he disagreed), and that "Gordon" the nice neighbor man suggested I call. He says he'll run by the house and call me after; it is okay if he gives the home owners my phone number? Yes, of course, and if something else comes up - anything at all, no matter how small, this is absolutely last priority, I tell him.
It's now about 10pm, btw.
He calls a half hour later. He's just left the house, and the people were actually relieved - they had no idea why the package was delivered to them, and didn't know what to do with it - the return address was their local post office! They will call me in the morning because of the late hour, and we will figure out a way for them to ship the stuff to me. If I have any problem, the officer tells me to call him anytime.
I wish him Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and hope that this is the hardest call he'll have to take all season. I'm sure it was the strangest, no matter what he said!

Hope both your Sister-in-law and Brother are recovering nicely, and without complications. Bro is recovering nicely thank you, SIL operation was rescheduled for Monday the 9th. I think I mentioned this when it happened but a few years ago I had an adventure where someone tried to claim my federal tax return before I did. It didn't work, but they tried and of course I've been a bit more sensitive to things along those lines ever since. A few months after all the nonsense started I walked out onto the front door and, surprise surprise, there was a large screen TV sitting on the porch. It was completely unexpected. I checked and it was addressed to my house from a place in NY that I'd never heard of, never communicated with, and it got me thinking something was seriously wrong. The return address was to a multimillion dollar business that did something with water purification. I found a phone number and when I looked up the company the number was legit. I was thinking that perhaps some identity thief had purchased something and part of their deal included this TV as an incentive except they'd goofed up and used my address instead of theirs. (I was thinking of all kinds of ways this could be bad.) It was late Saturday when I found the TV so I had to wait until Monday to call. Double checking the label I found a name - and it seemed only reasonable to ask for that person. The phone was answered by a secretary who said the person did in fact work there but wouldn't be in for some hours yet and could I call back. Oh, you bet 'cha I'll call back. When I called again, I had to go a strange circuitous route which included being reconnected to the secretary but eventually I did in fact reach the person named on the label. He was surprised I was calling and asked if the TV was broken. I said no, but I wanted to know why the TV had been shipped to me. After explaining my concern about the identity theft issue the guy finally told me who had shipped it. I knew the name. A friend who used to live here had quit her job and moved out of state. Silly me, of course I volunteered to help. She lived alone - packing and loading her trailer (more than a couple times) - cleaning out the house, etc., that all took time (just before Thanksgiving through mid December) and I was purchasing supper each night to keep from creating a mess that eventually would have to be cleaned up. The friend was safely moved months ago; out of the area, and to be honest out of mind to due more of life's concerns. It was the friend who had purchased the TV and had it sent. She knew I didn't have a large screen TV and she saw it while surfing for one thing or another. Instead of getting what she wanted, she got me the TV as a thank you for helping her. The person who had advertised the TV was at work when he arranged the shipment so instead of his personal address UPS put the return label to the company where he worked. Anyway, I'm glad you ran into several nice people and they're feeling helpful. And with any luck everything will arrive in time.

Oooh, that's today. Hope it goes well.
Oh, how sweet of her!!! I can see why at first you'd be skeptical though!
The people who received the package called yesterday as the officer said they would. They sound like very nice people; I talked to the husband, but could hear his wife in the background injecting suggestions throughout the conversation (which made me smile, because I do the same with Hubs).
We think we may have figured out how it happened, though it's just a guess. Though our first names are different, the man's grandmother has the same last name as mine (the joys of having an extremely common last name are many). His grandmother only lives about an hour and a half from them, but she has occasionally sent them packages in the mail. Perhaps she's ordered from J.C. Penny in the past or has an account there, and a computer glitch just picked up a previously used street address attached to our same last name? We'll never know. They thought it was odd though, that the grandmother would send Christmas gifts to them because they are seeing her at Christmas - even odder that she'd sent sheets and girls athletic socks.
We figured out a few options for me to get the packages. The most obvious would be to wait until all of them arrive, (it's yet to be determined if the two remaining ordered items will ship together or separately), and for them to mail them to me. While it's the most obvious, it's the most hassle though - I don't want them to have to shell out money to send the packages up front; they don't even know me, and would have to be very trusting to assume I'd send a check after the fact. I can figure out how much it'd cost to mail the packages once I knew the weight and dimensions of the boxes though, mail them a check made out to USPS, and then they'd take the packages to the post office (on one of the two Saturdays between now and Christmas because they both work during the hours the post office is opened), and pay with the check I'd send.
The other option I came up with is to pick them up from their house. I'm driving to pick up BP from college after her last final exam this Thursday, and asked how far they live from the interstate. I could hear the woman in the background say, "Oh, we're just 10 minutes from the exit!). They could leave the packages on the front porch in case I drove through while they were still at work, and alert their neighbors that I'd be stopping by so they wouldn't think I was some porch package thief. That would only work though if everything got there by Thursday - and I later discovered after using MapQuest for driving directions after we talked, that they must have misunderstood which interstate I said. I take I196, which runs north and south; they live off I96, which runs east and west. Still an option, but it'd add two hours to the 5 1/2 round-trip drive.
The best option I think, is to meet in Grand Rapids, about an hour drive for me. He and his wife (shhhh....the man whispered he had to go into another room to talk) both took off work on Friday to go Christmas shopping for their 5-year old and 11-year old after dropping them off at school, then they are going to Trader Joe's to get some organic foods for the wife, who recently had some health issues and has had to change her diet (it's interesting what people tell complete strangers). We could meet at Trader Joe's - again, only if the packages get there by Friday.
We'll see.

Ah, the joys of Christmas have struck again. Last year it was the fridge, this year Vox's hand. A couple of weeks ago we went to Costco for a last minute, 'ONE DAY ONLY' deal. Anyway, walking from the car to the store Vox tripped over a speed-bump and went down. She instinctively put her hand out and her wrist took the full brunt. It gave her pain that night and the next day it was black, blue and swollen. Up to A+E we went and had it X-Rayed. They thought she may have fractured one of the small bones in her wrist, (only thought!). Anyway, they strapped it up and said come back when the swelling has subsided. An appointment for the fracture clinic was made for today. Back to the hospital this morning, saw the fracture person, had another X-ray done, back to the fracture person. Yes, says he, you've probably fractured your wrist (aha, we are progressing. From 'only thought' to 'probably'). Right, says fracture person, we'll put you in plaster. So Vox is now plastered, at least for five weeks. She's chuffed, it means she can't cook christmas dinner now. One good thing did come out of it all. We got the set of kitchen knives we went to Costco for!

Stepper: I hope all went well with s-i-l's surgery today. Good to hear your brother is recovering nicely. Hope they both have a good rest of this year, and a better next year.
Phalon: I preordered Someday by David Levithan from Barnes & Noble. I got an email stating my order was on its way. Then I had a message on my answering machine from a woman in Northern Virginia calling to let me know that her son had received my book in the mail. It was addressed to him on the box ... but she realized the YA book was too old for him, so checked the trash for the invoice that had been inside the box. It had my name and address listed, so she search for me online and got my phone number. I called her back on my cell phone to save long distance charges.
She told me she had called Barnes & Noble, and they had told her to mail it to me ... to which she had replied that it wasn't her job and that they would just have to ship me another book. (She told me that if B&N didn't send me a new one to let her know and she'd mail the book to me.) So, I kept an eye on the package's tracking. I wasn't sure what/who's book I was getting. (If it belonged to the boy, I would have called her back to let her know.) I decided to email B&N that the package on its way to my house in a couple of days probably wasn't my book. And I mentioned the phone call I got. They emailed back that the book was in the mail, and that I would receive it on 9/9/19 ... and they gave me the tracking number. I explained the package coming to my house probably didn't have my book in it, and why that was so. The emails got me nowhere. The book was en route as far as they were concerned, and that was that.
The package never arrived, and the tracking page had this on it: "Your package was not received at the UPS facility as originally scheduled. There may be a delivery delay." ... hmm ... I'm wondering if they got the woman's call early enough to prevent the package from being processed? So, I called B&N, (I was done with emails), letting them know about the phone call I got, and that I never got the book, nor a replacement book. And they canceled the order and created a new order, and didn't charge me for the replacement book. The shipment went off without a hitch, and I got my book in the mail. So, I called the woman back to let her know she didn't have to send me the book sent to her son. (Left a message on her answering machine.)
I did suggest in my email that they could send a UPS truck to the woman's house with a new box addressed to me to put my book and invoice in, and ship to me. It would have saved them from shipping me a free book. I don't know if they ever got the other book back, or if the woman got a free book. I'm wondering if her son ever got the gift he was supposed to have received that day. She hadn't ordered her son anything, and assumed it was from the grandparents. Hope he got his rightful package too. Sadly, I didn't get it to keep as well.

Poor Voxie Lady!!! Hope she's not in pain now, and that her wrist heals quickly! The same type of accident happened to a co-worker this summer; he tripped, and instinctively braced the fall with his hand. He didn't break any bones, but hyper-extended the ligaments and tendons in his wrist, and was in occupational therapy for months (or physical therapy? I always get the two mixed-up).
So does that mean you'll be doing the cooking, Moonglum? Or ordering out?!
Glad it worked out for you. Though it took a while, at least Barnes & Noble customer service seemed to want to help, and eventually rectified the situation. J.C. Penny, apparently, doesn't give a cr@p. I wish I would have checked Consumer Affairs before I ordered from them - there is a list of complaints 7 miles long about their poor customer service and inaccurate deliveries.
I've been keeping an eye on the tracking of the items yet to be delivered. One is due to arrive at not-my-house tomorrow, and the other hasn't even shipped yet! When I ordered not this past Monday, but the Monday before, all items were supposed to be delivered within 5-7 business days. Pfft!
Been all kinds of Christmasy here this past week. One really cool thing I did was with Crazy Cheryl on Sunday. We went up to Meijer Gardens, which is a huge botanical gardens, sculpture, and art complex. They had a Christmas tree display of nearly 50 trees, each one decorated in a different country's traditional holiday symbolism. It was unbelievably beautiful. And given how cold it was outside, thankfully, it was an indoor display!

Yeah. I had feared I was going to be told to have the woman in Northern Virginia to send it to me. I ordered Christmas presents from JC Penney years ago, but had no problems. Sadly it seems customer service is going out of style. I hope you get all your packages, and soon.

Thanks Joxie. The only problems she's having at the moment is lifting things and showering/washing. The old bin-bag trick taped over her arm is preventing the plaster from getting wet though, and i'm delegated to do any lifting.
Happily no. The family are coming for christmas and eldest daughter and partner always take over the kitchen while Vox and I keep the grandchildren amused.

Sounds like quite the good deal!
I hope so too! Everything is set in motion, and is now all in the hands of the people receiving the packages. I met them yesterday morning in Grand Rapids at Trader Joe's. I picked up BP from college on Thursday for winter break, and I took and her boyfriend with me as back-up; sad, but I just thought it wouldn't be prudent to meet complete strangers in a parking lot at a place of their choosing that I've never been, in a city in which I'm not very familiar navigating. Not to mention, BP was excited to shop at Trader Joe's.
They gave me the package they already received, and I gave them a check made out to USPS that should more than cover the mailing cost on the package not yet received, based on their weight. One was due to arrive yesterday, and we joked it was probably being delivered at the exact time we were meeting. I got an e-mail notice from J.C. Penny last night; it was delivered late afternoon, and the other is due to be delivered on the 18th. I had planned on arriving a bit earlier than they did, and was able to run inside and get a Trader Joe's gift certificate for them for being so accommodating in this very bizarre situation (and for having the police show up at their doorstep at night!).

Hhmmmm....Lady Gaga's meat dress would be perfect for the Imp...if she could refrain from eating it while walking down the aisle.
Your comparison cracked me up. Not just because it's funny, but it applies to Hubs too! Not finding him a wedding dress, though I suspect that would be a tuffy, but because he is difficult to shop for! I had fun with it this year, though.
I got him (us!) tickets to see the Red Not Chili Peppers. No typos there - it's a Red Hot Chili Peppers tribute band that's playing at a cool little theater-turned-concert-venue about 45 minutes from here. To go along with the tickets, LX made a CD of favorite RHCP songs because I couldn't find a "best of" CD that contained all the songs I wanted; she made it because if I had to figure out how to do it, it would have taken all the fun out of it for me!! I had so much fun re-listening to the songs, some of which I hadn't heard in years, and watching the videos - whether you like RHCP's music or not, their videos are definitely fun to watch.
A month or so ago, he (finally!) retired his slob-around-the-yard jeans with the hole in an inappropriate place, and he wondered only half-joking if they could somehow be made into a man satchel to throw whatever stuff whatever project he's working on needs into. Hey! I know someone who could do that!!! When LX was in elementary school, Xena Sis turned a pair of her jeans into a cute little purse for her. When Hubs' back was turned, I tucked the jeans away to give to Xena Sis to work her sewing magic on when she had time; she asked for them this week.
A lady at the Holiday Market I met does upholstery. Hubs inherited his grandmother's rocking chair about 25-30 years ago; he's got all these fond childhood memories of his grandmother, sitting on her lap in the rocker, listening to her tell stories. The rocker is from the 1800s, and we've carted it around in pieces wherever we moved since he got it. It was in pieces because shortly after his grandmother died, he tried to refinish it, and took it apart to do so! There were like a billion spindles though, the job proved too much for a novice - he didn't want to ruin it. This spring he found a woodworking guy to complete the project - except for the seat; when Hubs took apart the rocker, he discarded the old springs, horse-hair stuffing, and whatever else made up the seat. The refinished rocker has been sitting in my "office" seat-less since summer. The seat will be finished this week, and I think it'll be fun to see the look on Hubs' face when he comes downstairs Christmas morning to see his grandmother's rocking chair waiting for him to sit in while we all open presents.
(Half hour pause because Boss Lady and Boss Man stopped by after church unexpectedly to spread Christmas cheer.)
And lastly, from all of us, a huge basket of all his favorite foods and Christmas snacks. There is normal stuff like LX's homemade cornbread that he loves, and weird stuff too. He has some bizarre tastes - his latest being boiled peanuts in the shell....in a can! Bluck!
I hope you find the perfect Christmas gift for Steppette, and have fun doing it, Stepper! I hope her health has improved also; it's been awhile since you've mentioned how she's doing.

I hope you don't have a problem receiving your packages again, but if they do get rerouted, I hope it's to these people.

Hhmmmm....Lady Gaga's meat dress would be perfect for the Imp...if she could refrain from eating it while walking down the aisle. I can't help but think that's not the prettiest picture. LOL! I live here, but cornbread is on my list of weird stuff. Okay, it's not in the Bluck category but it's not a favorite either. Cornbread stuffing is somewhat popular down here - you can even buy it in a box version by Stovetop - but I've bypassed entire meals for the simple expedient of avoiding cornbread anything and not offending an otherwise well intended host. Thanks Phalon. The perfect gift is still hiding - I have a couple ideas and a few things I've already purchased but nothing that I'd say is the gift that's going to make her smile. Everything for all the other people on the list is resolved and some of the boxes have already been delivered. At least her stuff won't have to be mailed. I haven't mentioned her health because there hasn't been any good news to share. We haven't had any disasters but she's losing battles on a couple fronts. One good thing though - they finally found a medication that resolved the infection in her eyes and that removed the film over the cornea in both eyes. The new glasses were a tad more expensive than I expected but they're due in any day now and she should be able to see clearly again before Christmas - I count that as a really good thing.

Oh Bummer! I'm sorry to hear that moonglum - I hope her recovery is uneventful and goes more quickly than they're saying.

I hope next year is a better year for everyone ... and that it gets better for the year that's left.

I guess that would depend on who....or what, is waiting for the Imp at the end of the aisle.
I don't like cornbread either - not so much that I'll skip an invite if I know there will be cornbread there, though! I just don't eat it. I used to buy that Jiffy cornbread mix in a box for Hubs whenever he had a "hankering" for cornbread - I thought it was ok (I liked it better than the homemade stuff anyway); he called it "cake", because it was sweet.
Oh! I'm sorry, Stepper! Sometimes all you can do is take it step-by-step, day-by-day, and focus on the positives.

Blasphemy! I’m out of here!
I hope Steppet gets better soon, and the doctors find the best help for her.

Thanks Stepper. It's been uneventful lately. Going out shopping for the last of the Xmas presents, staying in and waiting for parcels to arrive. I don't like on-line shopping. 'Your package will arrive between 08.00 and 17.00'. That's the day killed. If you pop out early, it arrives while your out and is left with a neighbour. If you stay in and wait, it arrives late and you spend all day waiting and in this weather there is precious little to occupy your time other than read or stare out the window counting raindrops. Vox says I'm becoming a grouch, can't understand why!
