It's been about 20 years, so I should probably give it another try (it won all those awards; it can't be as bad as it is in my memory). All I really remember is thinking when I was watching it that nobody can be that stupid....oh, and the wood-chipper scene; that I remember.
Good guess, Scrappy, but I think Katina's got it wrapped up. (Has Cloud Atlas been released on DVD yet, btw?)h

I don't know if it's on DVD yet. I watched it on demand on cable. I kinda liked it actually.

All I really remember is thinking when I was watching it that nobody can be that stupid.... Hello, let me introduce myself. Well okay, maybe not 'that' stupid. Excellent film, you should give it another try and see if your opinion is any different. And when Cloud Atlas comes out on DVD grab a copy of that, I see in three months it's recouped just over $27,000,000 of it's estimated $100,000,000 plus budget, so they could use the dough. Right, I guess we're talking about "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" here (ya didn't like that one either Gams?) Think this is the type of film Spielberg does best, and it was good enough to survive the somewhat hammy acting of Richard Dreyfuss I thought.

It looks odd enough to be interesting.
I probably should. It could have just been my frame of mind while watching, or even something I ate. Who knows.
Close Encounters, though? No. I'm not a huge fan of science fiction (is that movie even considered sci-fi?), and an even lesser fan of Richard Dreyfuss. Something about him creeps me out to begin with, and in this movie, he was just plain obnoxious. Hurry up and get on the d@mn spaceship already, and don't let the door hit you on the way in. Buh-bye, and good riddance.
But yes, you are right, Katina - it was Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

Know what you mean, think he suffers from "short man syndrome" and has to try dominating every scene he's in, would have been a far better film with another actor and a more subtle performance IMO, definitely not one of my favourite actors. Pop on another game shortly.

Well gee! He was pretty good in The Goodbye Girl! You remember the scene where he...wait, that was Marsha Mason. Well, what about the buggy ride? No, I liked the horse in that one. Um. Never mind.
