I wanted to tell you all about a new webseries from Geek & Sundry, Pen Ultimate, and Loud Pictures based on The Morganville Vampires book series by Rachel Caine, called Morganville: The Series. Rachel started a Kickstarter campaign in June 2013 to raise money for the project. They exceeded the goal that they set out for and ultimately raised 81,752.
Geek and Sundry teamed up with Rachel and will distribute the series through their Youtube channel. Eventually it will be on Netflix, Hulu, & DVD. Rachel is the screenwriter and one of the producers on the webseries. The Season One scripts were done on July 26, 2013. They started filming the series in April 2014 in Texas (where the books are set).
The cast is made up of mostly unknowns, with two notable exceptions. Amber Benson (best known for playing Tara on Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and Robert Picardo (The Mentalist). Amber will be playing Amelie the town's mayor (who just happens to be a vampire) and Richard will be playing Oliver who's a vampire and run's the local coffee shop that's popular with the local college students of Texas Prairie University (where the main character Claire Danvers and some of her friends attend school)
Geek & Sundry will be attending this years Comic-Con and will be talking about the shows they produce and distribute (Morganville: The Series will be one of them) Here's the link to that info: geekandsundry.com/view/geek-sundry-is-coming-to-comic-con
