It's always nice when long missing members come back to post. So, tell us what you've been up to since you were last here. Then jump right back into posting like you've never been away.

Well, gosh, I've spent the last year getting my butt kicked by cancer. As of now, I'm doing fine -- no evidence of disease and all that. I'm still getting treatment every three weeks, but I can finally sort of say I feel human. Hope everyone else had a better year. scamp

D@mn, Scamp! Sorry to hear!
The most important thing though, is that ultimately you've kicked its butt.
Better days ahead.

Heck, missed this yesterday. Terribly sorry to hear this Scamp, while at the same time happy/relieved to hear you've beaten it into submission, hopefully permanently. Here ya go, a hug from two handsome chaps, that will surely make you feel a whole lot better.

What am I, Katina? Chopped liver?
I suppose you're right; there's no hug-thingie in my post to Scamp.
<hugs from the chopped-liver section too>

What am I, Katina? Chopped liver? Good grief no Gams, far from it, if we're sticking to the meat analogy you would surely be Filet Mignon [ French for "cute fillet" or "dainty fillet"] the bestest, primest cut of meat available.

Fully understand Gams, it's not often you get the lot in one package, looks, wit and intelligence, not to mention modesty of course.

Or you can look up the code on the Smileys Forum.

Whoooooooosh. That's better. Blown all the cobwebs off this thing. I knew there was a keyboardy wotsit under here somewhere. Now, clean the dust off the screen, get the mouse running round in his wheel and wait for the valves to warm up. Well look at all those people, exactly where I'd left them. 'Hello world'.

Hi, Moonglum (I'm always a day...or three, and a dollar...or more...short). It's a coincidence you've checked in at Whoosh when you did; I was just thinking about you last week. My drive to work has been absolutely gorgeous - the median and sides of the highway are covered in blooming ox-eye daisies, both purple and white clover, bird's foot trefoil, and a tall yellow flower that reminded me of the 'view from your window' photo of that glorious field of rape seed. I thought just based on that one photo of yours that that's what the yellow flower might be - rape seed. Everyone I asked was familiar with the flower, but nobody knew what it was - one of those type things in which it's so common, you really don't pay attention to it. It was more more prevalent this year though, which, in its abundance, made it scream for notice. I checked some roadside flower reference books, and found it listed as yellow sweet clover (which really isn't in the clover family at all). Here are some photos I found on the Internet... veederranch.com/2010/07/01/tiger-lilies-and-sweet-clover/The highway crews ruined my view though when they came through a couple of days ago and mowed it all down. Ironically, when I got home from work, Hubs mentioned the big nationwide stir in agriculture here is an alarming lack of bees to pollinate crops; it's been a problem for a number of years recently, but this year has reached crisis status. It's ironic because the state's Department of Natural Resources urges property owners to leave natural areas and grow plants that attract pollinators, and then the state's highway department has crews come in to cut down what grows naturally, when all they had to do was wait a couple of weeks when it was done blooming.

Doesn’t make much sense does it? I’ve seen that happen here too, but it’s been years. They’re pretty good about waiting to mow things down unless some corner has grown so tall that it blocks the view for drivers – public safety first.
I wonder if anyone is working on artificial pollinators.

Sister Q!! Was a bit worried when I didn't hear back from you after my texts following your surgery. Checked your Facebook page the other day just to make sure you were alive and well. Hope you're recovered, and are both enjoying being new home-owners!
Twenty years. <shakes head> So hard to believe!
Happy to see you here, Q. Hope all is going well.
It doesn't seem like it should be that long ago, does it?

Guess I should welcome myself back, been MIA for a while. Had no internet for the best part of a month, first it slowed to a crawl, then carked it altogether, and nobody could sort out the problem despite doing tests for this and tests for that. Finally a bloke from Telstra (our version of AT&T) fixed it, moved the Modum from the study to the kitchen where the phone resides, hooked it up to a new line, got me to buy a pass through adaptor starter kit and connect that up and voila, not only back on line but getting download speeds that I could only dream of previously, so now I'm a very happy camper. Oh, I'm Katina by the way just in case you all forgot, that bloke from down under.

Welcome back Kat! I think having to go so long without the web would make me a bit bonkers.
Phalon can tell you who as I don't remember her, but someone else was here recently who is also down under. At least I think so.
