Here is where you can do 2-minute drills on any celebrity that you remember from years ago, and wonder what ever happened to them. (Some of them had very short careers. They went *poof* from the limelight just as quickly as they appeared.)

I remember never really liked Captain Kangaroo's show as a kid; it's weird I know, but those hair protrusions on either side of his head over his ears bugged the heck out of me. Didn't care for the Mister Rodgers show either, (though he had pretty normal hair), but Mister Rodgers had that cool the fake town set-up with the little cars, buildings, and people at the beginning of his show. I always thought it'd neat to have one of those.

Er, Spock, my friend, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but, after 29 years the good Captain simply retired. PBS ran reruns for a bit and then started making new episodes.
I can't imagine even trying to entertain kids for 29 years.

Soupy Sales: a show that was remarkably risqué. Here's one story about something he did on live TV: talking to White Fang (it could have been some other character) they were going through the alphabet but when they got to "F", Fang said "K". After a few attempts, and failures, they continued, but then Soupy went back to "F" and again Fang said "K". Then Soupy said "How come you get so many letters right, but every time it's "F" you see "K"?
I wasn't a fan of Captain Kangaroo, or Mr. Greenjeans. But I remember I liked Crazy Guggenheim.

Back in 2006, there was a series on ABC Family called Kyle XY; it was about a human cloning experiment "Kyle" who is taken in as a teenager by a family who tries to teach him how to assimilate into a normal life. Kyle, played by teenage heartthrob actor Matt Dallas, has no belly button, doesn't know how to show emotion, and has physic abilities. The series ran for three years. www.imdb.com/title/tt0756509/So where is Matt Dallas now? Here...and he and his entourage apparently have a penchant for soft-serve ice-cream, showing up at the local DQ for the past two days....much to the flustered thrills of most of the servers - guys and girls - who remember the show, especially a certain one who despite dropping the Blizzard she was making when he appeared close to closing the other night, had the audacity to tell him he was pretty, ask him to take a Snapchat photo with her (so he could sign it), and while the photo was being taken, feel around for his bellybutton.

Good for her that she was bold enough to ask, and nice of him to be co-operative about it all.

I think it's kind of strange that in a town full of restaurants...and a gourmet frozen yoghurt place, and a "real" ice-cream shop, that a movie actor (he's done quite a bit of work apparently since the Kyle XP days) would choose to hang out at Dairy Queen. But apparently, he likes it there, is a really nice guy, and is quite chatty with the DQ crew - he was back again yesterday; unfortunately for LX, he was only there that one night - the rest of his visits have been during the day shift when she's working at the coffee shop. They're shooting a movie in town, and as luck would have it, while Matt Dallas was at Dairy Queen, the owner of the marina and hotels that LX worked for last summer came into the coffee shop. He is somehow connected - don't know if it's providing the locations or in the production (he was big-time involved in the Waterfront Film Festival here, which is like a mini-Cannes). Whatever. He signed LX as an extra - a grungy probably-covered-in-fish-slime cannery worker. The movie is actually a remake - or maybe a feature-length version of a short film(?) castingcallsvip.com/2015/05/29/extras-stand-ins-needed-for-the-feature-film-alaska-is-a-drag-being-shot-in-south-haven-mi-starting-june-2nd/Not sure it'll work for her though; she's been "pulling doubles" (working both jobs, this week averaging 14 hours a day), and she's on call for jury duty for 15 days...and as she puts it, "trying to maintain a social life". Don't know how she's going to find time to be a movie extra.

If she can manage, she might find it an interesting experience. It also might lead to bigger and better offers ...

I hope it works out that she has time to do it.

It actually could be good experience in a way. She's majoring in Integrative Public Relations, minoring in Media Design, Production and Technology, with an undergraduate certificate in corporate social media...all things that making a movie entail.
In the least, 'it's who you know' could possibly come into play somewhere along the line.

Update: LX missed her chance to be billed as Cannery Worker Covered in Fish Guts #5. She sent in a head shot, and they called her for the scene....but she was at work, and couldn't get off. She's not disappointed; at this stage, she'd rather work for money...however little money it may be.

When you're her age you are indestructible and have all kinds of opportunity in your future. You tend to expect good things to happen again if it doesn't work out this time. Who ever heard of the concept that opportunity knocks but once? (Temptation however, leans on the doorbell.)
