Those words are mutually exclusive, unless it's Kale Kake, or "S" word cake.

Another .2 pounds this past week. At this rate it'll take me all summer to lose a single pound! I seemed to have reached a plateau...which I'm sure has nothing to do with the food consumed this weekend. (eye-roll.)

Went to the doctor today to learn my fate ... and he thinks the fibroid is shrinking! Hard to tell, since he's comparing images from two different machines. I'm in no pain, not bleeding ... etc. So, I go back in three months to see if there is shrinkage.

Thanks. I'm relieved. I'm hoping it is shrinking. And I'm going to forget about it until October. He also said 'fibroid,' not 'fibroids.' So I'm hoping that means the other one is gone. Or too little to notice.

Me too. Thanks. Mom's ordeal is more than enough for one year, thank you. And thanks to all for any prayers and good vibes sent my way. Really, really, appreciate it, truly. Wouldn't mind a bit more so that by October there is nothing to find. Thank you.

Still camped out on the plateau, looking for a way down. As of Monday's weigh-in, nothing gained, nothing lost.
I've been experimenting using the different herbs I'm growing to make infused water, with really good results, and it's so easy! I put herbs, stems and all, into a glass pitcher, fill it with water, cover it with plastic wrap, and let it set in the sun for a day. Then I add fruits, and refrigerate. You don't even have to strain it; the herbs remain in the pitcher. Every time someone pours a glass, they just refill the pitcher...it'll keep for a little over a week. Favorites so far are spearmint with lemons, and parsley with cantelope. It's very refreshing, and really good for me personally, because I never, ever drink enough water; I find now that I'm drinking a lot more just because it tastes so good.

This is a good thing! I guess I should get back to losing the weight I put back on after we quit last time because "mom" became a distraction. I get to start over from this starting point, right?

Phalon: I hope your city water is better than Jackson's. My family was thrilled to move back to Kentucky, and better tasting water. I grew up on Jackson's water, so I don't have a problem with it. The two times I've been back to Jackson, I was delighted to get to drink the water. I love my well water too, I just like the nostalgia of the water I grew up on.
stepper: I'm still trying to figure out when to get started setting up a new workout routine. I'm thinking I'll wait until the summer heat is waning.

That wouldn't work for me. Fall means many things besides Halloween candy and Thanksgiving and yummy legs, but I have a tendency eat more during fall.

I don't diet anyways. I will just be adding exercise to my normal routine.

I don't diet either - but I do make adjustments. Don't laugh - it's not a nicer way to say diet. What I mean is I do things like add more water and tea, which translates into less soda and that saves $$ and sugar. I'll stop taking the elevator and will walk the stairs instead. It wouldn't work well for me to tell myself I'm having to do without because the things I'm skipping become an urgent need the longer I go. I can do it with enough motivation, but it takes the right motivation.

It's so much harder to make a lifetime commitment to losing weight and keeping it off, than it is to a temporary diet. Diets do have a place, but I think if we just stuck to a lifetime eating plan, diets would become obsolete.

I don't mind our tap water - it's pretty good, if one likes water, I suppose. It's got no taste and no smell. The water at Mom's house smells like chlorine to me, and it's very soft - not bad, but different than here. The water at work - bluck!!! I don't ever drink it - it smells very minerally - like iron, maybe, and it tastes gross. I think it's well water, which is what I grew up drinking until city water made it to "The Sticks".
I was really extremely surprised about how easy it was to give up the stuff I did - sweet baked goods of any kind (excepting BP's birthday cake, of course; that was a special occasion). And I honestly don't miss them; there are always cookies in the cupboard, and I can pass them over without a thought. Rarely do I even have ice-cream anymore either - even the Breyer's coffee ice-cream, of which two half-gallons are in the freezer now; it was on sale a couple of weeks ago - two for one! Usually, the only time I have it is if BP dishes herself a bowl, can't eat it all, and asks me if I want to finish it. The problem there is, I can't stand to see food go to waste - especially when it's over $7.00 a half gallon!

Neither do I. Of course, giving up coffee ice cream is no task at all for some of us, but in my case I prefer Blue Bell. They shut down several months ago because someone got sick on their ice cream from listeria. There's not much ice cream to buy with the Blue Bell folks shut down. The stores do have Bryers, but I've been having a pop cycle once in a while instead. Frozen water with a little flavoring, but it'll cool you off on a hot day.

Oh, have you tried the popsicles made from fruit? Love those! Eddy's makes a line called 'Outshine' - the lemon ones are my favorite.
Guess what? Dragged myself down off the plateau, and lost 2.5 pounds last week! It's probably all sweat; it was very humid last week, and not at all pleasant to work outside. I'll take it though!

Yes - and like you I think the lemon is best. I like the strawberry too.
And that's not a drag - it's a leap over the cliff! Congrats on breaking through the plateau.

Phalon: Yeah. I should have gotten it when I got the Mini-Stepper, but I thought I wouldn't need it. I think it will be nice to change up the leg exercises.
stepper: Yeah. Me too. I'm still a bit sore, but I think if I do easy exercises that won't strain my body or cause more soreness might be the ticket. I really can't wait until all that stress related soreness is totally gone.
I haven't exercised yet tonight. Some books say to give muscles a day of rest. I thought I might do the hula hoop for 10 minutes ... just haven't gotten around to doing it yet.

It's a sad thing, but I was talking with a guy at work about the differences between the book and the movie for The Lord of the Rings and just had to re-read the end of the book, and then much of the first book. Well, "much of the first book" isn't completely accurate - I needed to reread about Tom Bombadil and just kept on reading.

Went shopping last week, and tried on some jean shorts, then had to go back to the rack to get a different size...a smaller size!!!! "My" size! The size I was in before I gained the weight, and the same size I've been since high school!
Came home and tried on some of the clothes I haven't worn in two years...and they fit!
But drats! Still not my favorite pairs of jeans, which the label says are the same size, but after years of getting to that perfect size of worn-out fade, they're shrunken.
Still a ways to go - ten more pounds is my goal. Weight's been holding steady, but no losses in the past couple of weeks.

Is that what they take them out on for emergency treatment at the seamstress' intensive care unit?
"911, this is an emergency!!! I've ripped the seat of my jeans trying to squeeze into them!"

No no no silly! You can only put 40 pounds in a 35 pound seat - the 41st pound has the WTF/last straw factor that can be so revealing. This one is more about the waste going to waist and this thing stretching that hippy space easing slippage - as would a jar of Vaseline but that doesn't sound especially comfortable.
