Did I miss something?
Is the world going to end when you hit one?
Is Trump getting impeached?! (YAY!!)
I'm scared. Comfort me.

Aw, Scrappy, I didn't mean to scare you!
No, somebody here is approaching one of life's most momentous occasions, and just in case he hasn't been counting down the days himself, I'm keeping track for him so he doesn't miss it.
(Psst - Moonglum is retiring)
Six.

Is that for Moonglum, or for the rest of us who are waiting for Trump's removal?

I figured you might be so busy working, that you might forget!!
And yes, you most certainly can have fanfare. And cake. Ice-cream too, if you'd like.
Three!

ONE!!!!! (and with the time change between here and there, it's in your favor!)
Your Fanfare: a parade in your honor with lots of ticker-tape streamers, confetti, balloons, marching bands, a blimp flying overhead with your name in flashing lights, planes with banners streaming behind them, and a large cheering crowd - the biggest cheering retirement crowd in the history of cheering retirement crowds and aerial photos that don't dispute it! (couldn't resist)
Your cake: a long, long buffet table of every kind of cake imaginable (except the kinds you don't like) and big crystal bowls of ice cream in flavors coordinating with each cake. And what the heck, lets throw in a full-sized ice sculpture of you in the middle of it all!
CONGRATULATIONS, MOONGLUM!!!
Wishing you all the happiness and free-time to do whatever your heart's desire.
ENJOY!

I hope to have the celebration smilies up today. I got to them last night but decided to log off and go to bed. The birthday smilies are up though.

Many thanks for all the kind wishes. The cake and ice cream look delicious, and I got a fanfare. Mind you, the guy second from right is slightly out of tune. Not to worry, it's still brilliant. And now, as Vox says, the real work begins!

Nope. Been working on Runboard boards, so didn't do anything on this board today.

HA! Yes, Vox is probably right, but at least now you can do it on your own schedule and not someone else's. Unless of course, the real work is work that Voxie wants you to do!

Well, the first week of retirement has been strange, to say the least. The first few days I was still waking up at 5 am, even without the dreaded alarm clock. Looking out the window and not seeing the van parked out there still seems weird. I had a flying lesson yesterday, my first, that was amazing. I'm still fired up about it now. I wonder what the second week will bring?

Flying lessons??!!! (Suddenly starts singing "Learning to Fly" by Pink Floyd in my head.) Oh-my-gosh, that is so cool....and scary! I was a bit aprehensive. I'm used to being 130ft in the air repairing and testing access plant, www.genielift.com/en/cs/groups/webcontent/@web/@awp/documents/web_content/mdaw/mjy4/~edisp/ucm03_268267.jpgbut this was 2000ft up and within the airspace of London Stansted Airport. Wouldn't have missed it for the world though. It was a belated last birthday present from the family. I think Vox has posted some pictures on facebook.

My brother works up on those things; he installs stadium and highway lighting, traffic light systems, and occasionally the electrical systems in wind turbines. I don't know how high up the platform ones he works in go though. For traffic lights and overhead electrical wiring, they just use bucket trucks. Once he was pulling storm duty on this side of the state for a week (the company he works for sends emergency crews out to difference states to restore electricity during power outages; he lives on the other side of the state), and afterward he came by for a visit....driving the bucket truck. His ex-wife and kids came up from Kentucky that weekend too, and my brother gave everyone rides in the bucket, swinging the boom(?) out over our ravine. I'm afraid of heights, and probably could never work that high up, but the bucket was like a carnival ride.
Oh! That is the neatest present ever! Hhhmmm...our anniversary is coming up in a week, and Hubs' birthday soon after. I wonder...nah. We are talking about Hubs: The Accident Prone.
Why tempt fate?
