BLACK FRIDAY SALE. Must end Tuesday. (sign in a shop window).
Some years ago the phone company changed everyone's phone number. Basically what with the growth of the area, new houses needing phones were outstripping the capacity of the telephone exchange. So they built a big new exchange and 'extended' the numbering system, they just put an 8 infront of everyones number. Hence, our number which was 57588 became 857588. Now my eldest daughter, who was in her early twenties at the time, for some reason couldn't grasp the new concept and would answer the phone with....."57588 with an 8 in front".

When I was in grade school, my family was going on a trip with another family. My Dad told my sister to call them and see if they left yet. When my cousin answered the phone on her end, my sister asked, "Have ya'll left yet?" Needless to say she still hasn't lived that one down.
Something strange (ridiculous) that I catch myself saying at work sometimes when communicating to my co-workers by the handheld radios we carry - or are supposed to carry: instead of saying something like, "Can you hear me" what comes out is "(Insert name of co-worker), do you have your radio on?"
