Dixie! Wish you had the time to stop in more often and drop of a few more posts. Really wonderful writing!
Joxie? Freebird? Anyone?
Hhmmm...what to do next? I'm kind of stuck at the moment; no idea at all of what to write. Sure, Guru stops in; drops off three posts in a row; and leaves poor Phalon holding the.....b-b-b-b-bag.
Scrappy, how about you?

Sorry... I've been distracted with the new forum I created. Plus, I've been reading several books on writing recently. Posted links to them in this thread. They are: The Courage to Write, Self-Editing for Fiction Writers 2nd Edition, & On Writing.

Scrappy. Maybe swoon and fall off the altar? We need some blood and guts in this story.
Ok, just kidding. Not about the blood and guts though. Perhaps Phalon suffered a nasty hangnail falling through the tunnel.
Hhhmmm, Joxie. Seems to me if you've been reading about writing, maybe you can practice what you've been reading by writing. Yes?

I don't know about you but I've been passed out and or wounded or something in almost every scene....should I lose a body part next?

Actually, I think these books have got me excited about writing again... not finished with the editing book yet though, so I was gonna wait until I finished it to really start anything. The book on courage will hopefully get me over my fear of posting some of my original stuff on my board for others to critique. Beta Readers are wanted bad... two writers have posted their works, but I'm the only one to critique them so far. Not very good at it... don't really have enough experience to tell someone what they're doing right, and what they're doing wrong... or how to fix what needs fixing. Some help I am!

Hey Joxie. I had to come back because I just thought of something you might be interested in checking out. A long time ago, a friend suggested I submit some of my writing to a magazine called "the Sun". I never submitted anything, but really enjoy reading it. Our library used to have a subscription, but has since cancelled it. I think I may have to break down and order it. It's a magazine, withouth advertisements, that is filled entirely with readers essays, stories, and such. Really, really cool. Moving pieces. Funny stuff. Or just everyday experiences. I've never seen it in a store, but their website is www.thesunmagazine.org/You need Acrobat Reader to view any of the sample writings.

Argh. I'm never going to get to bed.
I meant Adobe Reader; not Acrobat.

I've been pondering the possibility of posting to the Whoosher thread. (wiping spit offa monitor now). Is there still room for new characters, Joxcee? And if so, does one need to use one's name for the character they are writing?
(thinking that munching on carrots while alliterating the letter 'p' is not the wisest idea... flicking carrot offa monitor)

Hello there, Tami, and welcome to the house. Be interesting to see what you kind of character you come up with.
Bring food. Something more substantial than carrots.

Welcome to the family Tami.
And why does everything with Phalon revolve around her stomach?

|
Post by TamiZ on Apr 6, 2005 23:35:48 GMT -6
Everybody's world has to revolve around something... and since this is a PG-13 board, I'll say that mine revolves around my stomach, too... (setting a big bowl of popcorn out).
Of course, I could be an asolute smarty pants and say that my world revolves around an axis... lmao.

And when have you ever been anything else? And there's no fooling me....I know what your world revolves around. LMAO

My world does not revolve around my stomach, Scrappy. Well, maybe only when I'm hungry. Uhm....which is most of the time. And where are those chocolate peanut butter eggs you owe me?
Oooo, a bowl of popcorn. Sharing, Tami? Popcorn goes so well with scary stories. And calling stone gargoyles to life as pets is a scary thing. Loved your post.

Popcorn... yes, I always share munch food...
Pizza? I thought that was going to happen, but Orion was riding shotgun for a while and he ate it... box and all. Yup... was gone before I could yell, "Bad gargoyle!" ; )

Says you, Scraps ; ) Cold pizza happens to make a fine meal on the ride to work in the morning. Chilled cheese does a splendid job of preventing the toppings from falling off. Goes great with a Pepsi, too. (sigh) Those were the good days... when nothing I ate ever resulted in sudden size increases. These days, it's choco rations and convincing myself that fake sweetener tastes just as good as all-natural sugar.
And Phalon... sorry for my lack of manners earlier... but thank you for the kind comment on my post : ) My hands are becoming chapped from rubbing them in expectation for the next story post.

Tami, when you get a chance, can you post a description of your character? Makes it easier than flipping back through posts in the story trying to find details.
Thanks.

I've posted a character description to the appropriate thread ; )

Hey, thanks. Nothing to be sorry about; I just like to use descriptions.
Oooo....blocking thoughts, eh? Hhmm........some of the characters are going to have a tough time with this. Cool.

Hmmm...wonder if that applies to Scrappy's touchy feely thing....

(taking a deep deep breath)
oh, shucks... gosh darnit, Scrappy... LOL... sometimes you make it so difficult to maintain this good little girl facade of mine... LOL.
Seriously, though... I don't think that Mal would be able to block your skill because she's just putting walls up around her mind. Your touch-feely thing would be something that would cut to the core of a person. It would not just be an invasion of the mind. If you can see other than the present with your skill, I would think that your skill would cut to the soul.

I'm working on a post... I have a paragraph done, but I don't think I'm going to have it ready before I go offline to watch CSI... so if the T-storms don't visit this area, maybe I can have something ready later this evening... or by tomorrow hopefully.
