I keep meaning to copy/paste my writing posts from Facebook to here, but keep forgetting. This might be my writing update ’blog,’ or not.

Wrote five pages on a story today. It’s still on the back burner, but I think I found some friction today to bump it up the list of things to work on next. One great idea led to others, so not working on it yet was the right choice. I’ll decide when to work on it full time once I’m done with my current project.
My current project has many layers, and some parts of it are nearing the end. I think I have a publishing company title for my nonfiction works figured out, and as soon as I read my book on creating LLCs, I’ll be creating at least two LLC companies. Different business titles for different genres. Maybe. Or just one for fiction, and one for nonfiction. *shrugs*

Wrote several pages today before heading to my sister’s house. A couple on the story, a couple on the nonfiction book, and a page on refiguring a game board. I’ll probably work on the game board again before going to bed. Waiting for the ball to drop, then will probably go home when others are ready to leave.

Wrote one page on the nonfiction WIP, and eight pages on game board designs. —— The game boards go along with the nonfiction WIP. The boards will have sets of flash cards that will use the exercises from the nonfiction book. And the flash cards and boards will be sold separately to mix and match with each other. Some cards can go with several of the boards, while others are connected to one board. AND, the boards can also be used with index cards that readers/players create for the exercises.
January 7, 2020 at 5:45 PM ·
Used 12 notebook pages on game board designs. Three boards are designed & plotted, and two need more work. Two one-sided boards plus one double-sided board equals four game boards. The two boards that needs more work are double-sided, so equals four games. The designs are probably set, but plotting need loads more work.
Several of the games are similar, but boards are different sizes to give buyer a choice on how much money they want to spend. Less squares takes longer to work through, and more squares takes less time to work through. Plus, the small boards will be for one player, and the big boards for up to four players.
Computer is going to go belly up, so will need to replace soon. Then creating the board design files will begin at some point. First comes creating the cards. Dividing up the information into various card series, figuring out the card sizes and designs, and then creating the card files. Plus, adding to the nonfiction book, and adding that to the game cards and nonfiction workbooks.

Went shopping for a new laptop before logging off (1/8/20 in the AM) ... found one I liked ... bought it ... got it by UPS today. Wow. Wasn't expecting it to happen that fast.

Rant:
January 10, 2020 at 4:04 AM ·
Bought a Dell AlienWare laptop in October of 2017. About a year and a half later, the cord wasn't working properly. Did a search and found this happened a lot. A new cord was over $100. Laptop didn't recognize their damaged cord, and stated it had to be theirs, or the laptop wouldn't function properly ... so figured I'd have to bite the bullet and get their expensive cord.
Now I'm getting a warning that the Intel Rapid Storage is failing. Did a search and found this happened a lot. Learned I had up to a month or so before the laptop stopped working. A replacement part was over $200. I decided I wasn't going to put more money into that laptop ... figured it would just keep costing me money ... so decided to buy a new laptop. A cost that I wouldn't have needed to spend had the Dell computer not been a piece of crap. Live and learn.

I created accounts in Firefox & Chrome ... and so all of my bookmarks and passwords were automatically added without me doing anything more than signing in. Loved that.

The new laptop came with a stylus pen ... something I'd been wanting for a long while. And the laptop is a 2-in-1, so once I get everything installed, I'll play with it. See how well I can draw with it. Much better than with a mouse, or the touch pad, I'd imagine.

I’ve been trying to figure out the best option for starting a business, and I wrote four pages on a game/low-content book. One project that will become multiple games and a book. Or multiple books.

Wrote four pages on ideas and thoughts on blogging a book. Three pages yesterday, and one page today. Trying to decide if I want to put multiple works on one blog, have one blog for multiple works of fiction and one blog for multiple works of nonfiction, or have one blog per project.

Wrote four and a half pages on a ‘book blogging’ project/s. Several parts of one project, that might work both separately and together.

Wrote a page on a different nonfiction project that is set aside for another time, when it is ready. It might become a book blog project, when the time comes. Maybe.

Wrote six pages on a project that will become at least one game, if not several. Will definitely be multiple game card sets that will go with at least one game board. And might be used for print outs sold on Etsy or a website shop. And maybe workbooks as well. Print and ePrint.

Strange how I feel like I’m not busy enough. I feel like I should do way more to be considered busy.
I have the different projects in storage containers, labeled so I’ll know which is what. Some have multiple notebooks in them because the one project can be used for several projects. Some even have books in them related to that topic, and print out information from the internet. I keep containers on the couch and next to me on the double recliner so I can grab what I need when I have stuff to get out of my head. I finally put the notebooks I work on mostly into one container next to me, that way I don’t have to move and go through containers to find what I want. I think working on multiple projects helps with ‘writers block.’ Each are in various stages of completion. First finished, first published.
Right now, I’m reading about blogging a book. It’s a short book, and I put it aside when I have stuff to get out of my head. I think focusing on something else sometimes frees up my brain to relax and work out whatever it needs to in order to add to a project. It feels like I’m being lazy though.

Wrote five pages mind mapping on a nonfiction article today. A few days ago, I wrote one page on a nonfiction piece that will become part of a game, and possibly used for a printable worksheet and in a workbook.

This virus detoured me for a wee bit, but maybe I'm back on track now.
I wrote three pages on a new nonfiction project. Well, it isn't really new ... the project has been percolating in the background for several years now. Today it moved to the forefront when I got a new idea of what I could do with it, and the directions it could go in. My first thought was as a mini-course. The idea came from a video I watched recently:
Get OFF Udemy! Sell Online Courses On YOUR OWN SITE!
I thought I could use the info to create a mini-course to bring in customers to my nonfiction books, workbooks, and games, etc. But as I was figuring out the course, other ideas popped into my head, leading me towards turning the ever increasing info into a book/workbook/both. I might still use the information from across all of my nonfiction works to create mini-courses, once they have been published, as a way to bring in interest. I've learned that Pinterest is a clever marketing strategy ... and perhaps mini-courses will be as well. Mini-Courses can have a cheap price, and customers can dip their toe in before committing to books, board games or game cards, or several workbooks.

I wrote four and a half pages on a vampire novel that’s on the back burner until after the nonfiction works are finished and published. It’s gelling good. It was a rewrite of a scene already written, but fleshed out more. It’s a much better version of what was written before. I still haven’t figured out the plot, the climax, or the direction the story will take. I just have scenes that will fit into the story at different points of progression.

Not on the games. I had workbooks as my first priority, until a few days ago. I came across a video showing that this person made a little over $200,000.00 on one course. And I had an epiphany. Why not turn the workbooks into courses? The money I make from the courses could help me with book covers, ISBNs, etc. And could pay for the software needed to create the games.
And as I was figuring out where to start with my courses, I decided I’d start with the information I’d been sharing freely here and other places. So, I’m working on: Where Do Ideas Come From. It was something I had planned to do for the nonfiction book, but hadn’t been working on turning into a workbook yet. It was on the back burner, so it needs more work than the other courses will. Most of the other courses has tons of stuff I have to sort through and divide into various series/volumes of workbooks/courses.
I’m also adding a course on: Brainstorming. I have to write the content, and set it up as a course as well. Like the first course, it was on the back burner until now. So, I’m working on it to be ready when the first one is. I’m wondering how many courses I should have finished before I put them out. Two? Five? Ten? I’ve been doing a lot of writing on these courses the last few days, I just haven’t posted about it. And I haven’t decided if the games should come after the courses, or after the workbooks, or save for last.
I have some “What If . . . ?” Ideas on my Tumblr account. I may include them as examples as well. We’ll see. I never got around to adding them to my thread here.

I just shared this in a Facebook group yesterday, and today there was a reply thanking me, because I gave them a rad idea. It was a Twilight group. Someone had made a comment about “what if” this had happened instead of what happened in the books/movies. And I said that could be used to create a fanfic, or even used in an original work that could be published.
And because I’m well aware of how some fans feel about anyone turning their UberFic into an original work that is published, I replied with this to my first comment to let them know that using someone else’s idea isn’t stealing.

Why not do both? Many classes and courses I've taken over the years include accompanying workbooks or worksheets. You could do a course and a corresponding workbook...but make them independent of one other, so a person wouldn't necessarily need one to do the other. That way you could sell them separately, and also bundle the course and workbook together at maybe a slightly discounted price if they purchase both.
Coolio!
