It was a win-win situation by not excluding anyone. And I'm wondering if the reboot hasn't happened yet because it excluded so many of the old fans, like myself, who didn't watch the show for romance/relationships.
Not to mention I haven't even gotten around to finishing reading Emma. At this point, I should probably start at the very beginning again.
... ... ...
My heels don't bother me, it's the soles/arches. I hate wearing shoes. I've go barefooted whenever I can. I wear shoes only when I have to. Some videos say to go barefooted, others say to wear shoes.
... ... ...
Oooh. I wish you had videoed the event.
... ... ...
It's cloudy today. The sun is supposed to be out for three days, and then cloudy and rain off and on over the weekend.

2C at 7.00am this morning. The air is crisp and dry, it's been raining constantly for the last few days. I never got around to cutting the grass and now it is too wet and too long. The new fridge/freezer is humming gently and is full to the brim now. Hopefully, we will be able to walk the dogs today, they have been couped up like us because of the rain. Good old british weather! Still, further north, the Midlands, they've had snow. We never get much snow down in our corner of the country. It has to be exceptional for snow in any quantity here in Essex.

I think winter is finally here. -2C when I got up this morning, its now risen to 1C. The sky is grey and heavy looking. My daughters partner had to de-ice the car before he left for work at 4.00am. The weather report says the country can expect snow from today onwards (the Beast from the East will return) apparently.

Maybe arch-supporting insoles would help?
Me too! One, because it was a spectacular thing to witness! Secondly, I wish I could show it to someone who could tell me what kind of birds they were. When I went to the nursery to cut greens, I told my boss, an avid birder, what I saw - she said they probably weren't whooping cranes, because they are so rare; they are sighted occasionally around here, but not in large numbers. Sandhill cranes was her best bet - although I drilled, and sandhill cranes rarely migrate at night, and they aren't white. These birds were pure white, which is one of the things that made the sight of them so spectacular - absolutely gorgeous against the night sky.
Did a little bit of drilling, and I'm leaning toward them being either trumpeter swans or tundra swans maybe - both species are white, and migrate at night. The eerie noise though of the birds we saw has got me stumped - cranes, I thought, were the only birds that make that creepy-@ss sound.
It's cold here - it's only 24 degrees, and is barely going to make it into the 30s today, if at all. This presents a problem - all the greens and berries will be frozen solid in their buckets of water. The temperature is supposed to get up into the 40s tomorrow, but probably not in time to melt the water so I can make the table arrangements. There are nearly ten 5-gallon buckets full, sitting on the side porch, which we'll have to lug halfway across the yard sometime today between all the cooking (and eating!), and put them into the garage so they'll be thawed enough for tomorrow morning.
Speaking of cooking (and eating!!!) - I'd better get moving; lots to prepare for today.
Happy Thanksgiving!!!

I had my bi-annual doctors checkup yesterday. My doctor mentioned steroid something or other. Cream? I don't want to do that if I can help it. She also told me to get arch supports for my shoes, and some arch support crocs to wear around the house. She mentioned that I should hang my heels, which is one of the stretches mentioned in a video on my playlist. I'm hoping stretches will take care of the problem, and I won't have to do anything more drastic.
The highs are dropping into the 40s next week and the lows in the 20s & 30s. They're calling for rain today and Sunday, and a rain/snow mix next Thursday, and rain on Friday & Saturday after that. Tomorrow's sunset will be at 4:42pm, and on Saturday 12/1 sunset is at 4:39. The days will continue to shorten until Winter officially arrives, and then the days will gradually start to lengthen. Somewhere in around the second week of January is when I first notice that it's still light at 5:00pm. And it will make me very, very happy. And even more happy knowing that time changes in the middle of March now, and not in April. February usually frustrates me, because the weather warms up and goads/taunts me with Spring-like temps. And sometimes the Spring frogs will come out until colder temps move in and force them back into hibernation.

Oh. she also mentioned shingle shots, but I had heard they didn't work all that well. Several on Runboard are 'kicking' me and telling me I should definitely get the shots. My sister got shingles last year, she was down with them for around three weeks. She had a rough case of the chickenpox when she was little. I caught them and school, and she got them from me. I had a fairly mild case though ... so I'm wondering if that will have any effect on if I come down with shingles, and how bad a case I come down with. I told them I'd think about it.

Mini Mia Your friends were right about the original shot - it was a little more than 50% effective but by nine years, Zostavax was no longer effective at preventing shingles. The new vaccine is called Shingrix. It is estimated to reduce shingles by over 90% in adults 50 years and older, but the length of protection from Shingrix past 4 years is still unknown. All I can say personally is that my father had shingles - it lasted for weeks and was quite painful. I've heard from a med-tech that this one can leave your shot site sore for some days but that's much better than actually getting the shingles. We're having seasonable weather here today and tomorrow -meaning 60s and even low 70s - but then another cool front comes in and drops us into the 40s, and will stir up more rain. The mother of a friend from work was legally blind but she made hanger Christmas trees as presents for the kids. I think she sold them too. They were quite nice. Phalon Could the birds have been either Great or Snowy Egrets? The size and color sounds right. I believe they can be found from southern Canada to here in Texas. I've seen them around the tanks on some of the farms in the country. I can't say as I've ever heard them, but they fly in flocks and I think I've seen them at night too. I did a traditional turkey meal for us on T-Day, and that means plenty of preplanned turkey meals for the next several days. Steppet kept asking if a friend had turkey so I sent him a text message. He didn't answer until Friday, but he was home alone and had a ham sandwich. Steppet wasn't having that so I took him a plate full of "left overs". He came by today and asked if I'd consider cooking him a Christmas turkey. It's a nice complement, but I don't do anything strange or especially different. It's all traditional - unless poultry seasoning in the stuffing is unusual - and I don't think it is although I've run into a couple people recently who hadn't heard of doing that. I'll have to ask if they tried it and what they thought of the taste. When I went for my TriCare for Life (military health insurance) briefing, they spent some time talking about the many scams people try to pull in the area of selling insurance, and they can be downright despicable. One of the scams was they'd make their pitch to people, and then asked that eveyone sign a sheet indicating they'd been briefed so the two people giving the pitch could get credit for having talked to them. (Sign and you get a free two ink color pen too.) The sheet was more than half way full when one of the last people picked the sheet up and flipped it over. We're talking about people getting this pitch who are on Medicare and have pretty darned good insurance already, but it turned out this was actually a signup sheet switching them from whatever insurance they had to some insurance company - one charging quite a bit. Our briefer said that it had already been contested in court but the signature, even though it was on the back, was still valid and obligated people to pay the fees with that company for a full year. And nonpayment included penalties. Some people just have no morals. moonglum Yuck! Can you keep them over there? We've had some cold fronts come down from Canada already and it's too soon for this! CCF stands for centum cubic feet which means 100 cubic feet - that's how they measure delivery of natural gas. And you are correct - they are no class amoral jerks. We don't answer the phone unless we know who's calling for that same reason. I've heard tell of people finding unusual charges on their phone bills and credit cards that were traced back to a phone call where the answering person said little more than hello. If you talk to them at all, they can claim you have a business relationship and the Do Not Call rules don't apply because of that business relationship. The ones who bother me the most are the ones working for a debt collection agency willing to call everyone in the phone book with closely matching names trying to see if you even know who they are actually trying to find. Answering the question - even saying I don't know that person - will cause some of them to claim you have a business relationship. I don't think it's legally sufficient, but they'll call anyway. One girl laughed at me and said that I had accepted paying the debt because I had answered the phone. Not here it isn't. Steppet and I are the only ones in this area. Everything has to be wrapped, boxed, and mailed, so we start really early. I was doing serious Christmas shopping back in July when Hallmark released the new ornaments. If I want things delivered on time, I have to start ahead of time. A few things have to wait, but all of Steppet’s shopping was done by October. I send the niece and nephew a $25 McDonalds pre-paid card, and a large sized Hershey's bar. I wait on the Hershey's because I want it to be fresh, and it doesn't make sense to purchase the card too early - I'd probably lose it. But overall, I have to start early. And yes, I do sort of miss shopping when everyone is in the Christmas spirit. One question though - will LX be able to put up a few of her decorations on your tree or are they all in transit? If you've got them, then you almost have to put up the tree don’t' you? Doesn't she have some that are sort of like my swan? That would include me. The original chat board and then the chat rooms included people who insisted that because of Liz Friedman, there was sub-text which was actually main text and seeing anything else meant you were a prejudiced, blind, fool. IIRC, mainly, ppl saw them as really good friends, but no more than that. There used to be posts you could Google saying there was a reboot afoot and that this time it would have X&G in a full-on relationship, but the reboot never seemed to happen. I wonder if LL and ROC would consider it - or it they'd have to replace them - and could replacements bring the serious fans with them? I honestly don't know. I've been working my way back through the posts because I remembered this one being there. I know this is way behind the power curve, but I wanted to say that you should have re-bagged it all up, and mailed it to LX a-la creepy *ss doll. Of course, there's the problem that she may have felt motivated to return the favor, especially since she doesn't actually live there now, but on her next visit you could have put a fresh garlic in her bedroom just for the fun of it.

Oh! I had a pair of crocs I used to wear around the house - the same pair for more than a decade! I just couldn't get rid of them, though I wore a hole through the sole of one, and the other was split from the top of my foot all the way to the toes. Much better than slippers, which various family members would give me for Christmas or birthdays in an attempt to rid me of my ratty, old crocs; I liked that I can wear them inside or outside, and just run them under water in the sink to wash them off, as opposed to slippers, which have to actually be washed in the washing machine. LX and the Boyfriend finally scored this fall when they gave me a pair of Sloggers for my birthday - they're "Premium Insole Sloggers", and I swear they are a tie for the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned (beating out the Crocs by far). The other most comfortable shoes I've ever owned I came across on a fluke. It was like finding buried treasure. I've mentioned in the past how hard I am on my work shoes; I usually blow through a couple of pairs a season, no matter how expensive or how cheap of a pair I buy. The season before this past one, my work boots lasted until around September - still a couple months left to go, and I thought what the heck, instead of spending a lot of money on something that's going to get ruined in a couple of months, I'll just check Goodwill (remembering the new Doc Martens BP found there for $4). This is what I found, also like new and also for $4 - www.hytest.com/en/footrests%C2%AE-xt-nano-toe-slip-on/35257W.html?dwvar_35257W_color=K27020#cgid=women-view-all&start=1I had no idea what I was buying - I only got them because they fit, they looked like they would last for a couple of months, and they were cheap as heck. I finished out the season in them, wore them all winter, and throughout this season. Not only are they the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn, they've lasted more more than a season, and are still going strong; though the leather is beat-up, it's not split or worn through, and the soles are still perfect - these shoes are absolutely indestructible. And most importantly, I've had not a single foot problem since I first put them on - even the calluses I used to have are gone! Though they aren't the most stylish, I'm going to buy myself another pair for Christmas to wear outside of work. After all that rambling I just did, Joxie, my point is - good shoes make all the difference, and in the long run, even if they are expensive, they are well worth it. Stepper, your post made me chuckle - it was like a General Store that carries everything; One-stop posting! I've no more time this morning though to stay and play; the rain and snow is on its way, and I've got tons of stuff to do outside before it hits. Later, Taters.

And we're having Winter yet again. It was in the 30s today, and it felt like it was in the 20s. Yay. Supposed to be cold again tomorrow, and then back up in the 50s & 60s yet again starting on Thursday, and into next week. It's 26 right now, but feels like 17. I'm so glad I'm in the house ... I'm feeling warm at the moment, with a hint of coolness about me. I'm gonna be letting in all that coldness when I let Mom's dog out to tinkle. I'm not gonna be too happy about that. Mom's dog loves the cold, and she will stay out for about 20 minutes while I have to keep checking to see if she's back yet. She doesn't let me know when she needs to go out, or when she's at the door wanting to come in. I'm supposed to read her mind.

Oh-my-gosh, why is it that when you want the weather forecast to be right it's wrong, and when you hope it's wrong, it's right?
They predicted 6-to-8 inches of wet, heavy snow during Sunday night into yesterday morning...and they were right. It's close to the low end of the scale - probably about 5 inches - but who knows how much actually fell because it's so wet and heavy it's compacted. It's the wettest, heaviest kind of snow to shovel; too wet and heavy for a snowblower, and I spent a good part of the day shoveling.
It was very beautiful though yesterday morning with all that snow clinging to the branches of the trees. Except for my dogwood - the memorial tree I planted when Mom died. It's about 12-to-15 feet with multi-trunks; it never lost its leaves this fall, and with the weight of the ice and snow clinging to them, each of the trunks were bent all the way to the ground, the tips of them buried in the snow. It went from twelve feet tall to three feet tall! I gently shook all the snow I could from the branches and leaves, and it sprang up a little, but not much - but at least the trunks weren't cracked. Slowly throughout the day and last night it rose to its full height, though one of the trunks looks a little splayed out from the others still. And it's still covered in leaves. I think I might loosely tie the trunks together to keep it from happening again - we're supposed to get more snow every day this week.
Stepper:
I thought about egrets too, and looked them up during my drill. I ruled them out though, because they fly with their long necks tucked into their chest - swans and cranes fly with their necks straight, and whatever kind of birds we saw, they were so stark against the black sky, it was unmistakable that they were flying with straight necks. I guess I'll never know exactly what they were, but will probably never forget seeing (and hearing!) them.
I remembered you start early because you mail a lot of stuff. Shoot, that reminds me, I have to get with my (ex)sister-in-law, and figure out what my niece and nephew would like this year. Their gifts are the only ones I have to mail.
I don't do anything different to the turkey either - salt, pepper, and herbs, tent it with foil during the first hour or so, and baste it often during roasting. It always turns out nice and moist.
Poultry seasoning in the stuffing makes sense to me, even though I don't use it. I never thought of it, actually, since when I make stuffing, I use Mom's recipe - and I only make it when my brother comes for Thanksgiving; the kids don't care for stuffing, and there are plenty of other "must have" dishes that there is more than enough food and leftovers to last the weekend.
Unfortunately, my brother and his girlfriend weren't able to come this year; he had to work both Wednesday and Friday, and it's too far of a drive to do in one day - especially after a big meal! We had such a great Thanksgiving weekend though; lots of fun and games, and of course, good food!
We're still figuring that out, actually. She has her heart set on hosting Christmas, but I really don't see it happening; they're not even in an apartment yet. Her ornaments are still here with all their other stuff, boxed and ready to go though. They are coming back this weekend for BP's best friend's 18th birthday, and we'll put up the tree then; we didn't have time this past weekend. The Boyfriend moved all their stuff to a room off the basement (except the furniture, which is in the back room of the living room), so the front room is clear to put up the tree! I heard her mention to the Boyfriend that she can't wait to show him all her ornaments this weekend (kind of makes my heart smile that she cherishes them so), and I'm guessing some, if not all, will end up on our tree. The Boyfriend asked her too, if he gets to be part of the tradition - of course he does; he's practically family!
The ones that are sort of like your swan in that they were passed down through generations, are still mine - they were Mom's, and some of them her Mom's from Hungary. They go on a little tree by themselves.
Coulda, shoulda, woulda...if I had thought about it! Of course, I'd probably be arrested for attempting to send hazardous material through the mail - my-oh-god, it stank!
It's starting to snow again. Need to get all my errands done before too much more falls.

It's usually right when I have to get out in bad weather. Today was nice, despite the 'feels like' being in the teens. I had to take Mom's dog to get a haircut. She seems to be very hot natured, and pants even though I keep the house cool for my hot flashes ... and then when I let her outside, she will stay up to 30 minutes, even when I get all her hair cut off. I hug her when she comes in, and she isn't shaking at all, so I only worry that I'll forget she's outside, since she doesn't know how to let me know she's wanting in. I sometimes set the timer on my phone.
After dropping her off, I filled up the car, stopped at the Co-op to get straw for the dog igloo that the cats sleep in. I have an old pillow in there at the moment, but I know straw is better, so remembered to get some today. I almost didn't though, because it was at a second location from the Co-op, where I got the gas. I hadn't seen the place, and was a wee bit worried I wouldn't find it. I'm not good at directions. So, I dropped the SS money off at the bank before talking myself into 'just doing it.' Yay! I have straw. Then went to the pharmacy, and then the grocery store, and then back home ... and then to pick up the dog, and home again.
I'm wondering when the anxiety of having to drive will go away. It's much better, but if I don't have to get out, I can still talk myself out of doing it today ... there's always tomorrow. Well, if it's for me, I can put it off. If there's no appointment, and I'm the only one needing food. And the local store has little to bother with anyways. I keep looking at the meat, and other items to see if it will give me any ideas. Nope, not so far.

It's turned mild here. Nights have been 10-11C and the days 14C. It has rained, that drizzly sort of rain, for days now, but the wind has died down. Got to take Ruby to the vets early tomorrow to have her teeth looked at. She might need an extraction. Looked at their insurance policies and found it doesn't include dental work. Great!

Not so here. Snow, snow. More snow. Even more snow today. I feel like we should be in the winter thread, not the autumn one, though technically winter doesn't start for weeks! It's supposed to get above freezing tomorrow though, and the precipitation switches to rain.
It might be too late to teach your Mom's old dog new tricks, but we used a bell to train Quetta. When we first got her, she'd stand at the back door to be let out, even if we were in other parts of the house. She'd stand there forever, not making a sound, until someone walked by to let her out. So I put a bell on a string and looped it around the doorknob. Every time any of us let her out, we'd nudge the bell against her nose before opening the door. It didn't take her long at all to learn to ring the bell herself if she needed to go out. It worked great - for a few months anyway, until I was off work for the winter. Home all day, she drove me nuts - that bell rang constantly! I'd let her out, and literally two seconds after coming in, she'd ring it to go out again. She even learned to fake pee!!! I'd stand on the back porch watching her - she'd squat for not even a second, looking straight at me, thinking she was faking me out, then start moseying around the yard or playing. After a few times of seeing that, I took the bell off, and she's never had an accident in the house.

She started out being an outside dog, but one of Mom's friends would badger her about bringing her inside on cold nights, so Mom finally did. Mom intended to make her an outside dog again, once it warmed up, but Sheba had other ideas. Sheba was almost a year old when someone dropped her off on our road, around Autumn of 2017. The neighbor believes she was abused, as he noticed Sheba didn't interact with men as much as she did with women. It took him a bit of work, and a lot of treats before she'd warm up to him.
She's the sweetest dog we've ever had. Not long after Mom took her in, I put some food out for her, and before I could stop my two-year-old Great-Niece, she put her hand in the dog dish and pulled out a chunk of food to hand out to Sheba. Sheba backed up and sat down and did nothing about her food being invaded. And she took the morsel offered to her by my Great-Niece. I've never been around a dog that didn't growl and snap at you if you got too close to their food.
She got heartworms when Mom's mind starting going. The vet gave her some pills to take, because Sheba is super hyper, and Mom didn't want to do the more dangerous treatment. I started taking over her heartworm medicine after that. And over time Sheba decided she wanted to live with me, and I've had her ever since. I think Mom not having someone else to look after is when her mind really started going downhill pretty fast. Or maybe Sheba wanted to live with me because I took over her feeding, and maybe she wasn't getting fed on the days I thought Mom didn't need my help and I left her to do it herself. Sheba still acts like a young dog, although she seems not to be as excitable and hyper as she used to be. She still has to be up my butt a lot though. She's put holes in most of my shirts because I can't get her to stop jumping up on me.
It was warmer today, though the breeze still had a chill to it. It's still supposed to get up into the 60s this weekend, but next week's highs are now in the 30s & 40s. The 'Winter-like' weather comes and goes, so the Autumn thread still fits, I guess. And maybe, the Spring thread for the warmer days. The temps are all over the place.

Sheba sounds like a very sweet dog. What breed is she?
None of our dogs ever showed any food aggression. I even on occasion take Quetta's food bowl away from her while she's eating, just to get her to slow down - she eats like a pig sometimes! One of her "commands" actually revolves around getting her not to gobble her food - BP taught her to "Take it nice" when she's given a treat, because otherwise you end up with fingers covered in dog slobber. It's funny actually - when we say "Take it nice" and hold out the treat, she ever so slightly parts her lips and very slowly will take the treat from your hand; it's just an odd-looking thing to see such a big dog part her lips like that.
And Ranger - he has to, no matter where he is in the house, run to the dog's water bowl when he hears the dog food being put in Quetta's bowl. Even though he's got his own water bowl, he's got to stand right next to Quetta and drink from her bowl while she's eating. It's the weirdest thing because he does it every single time - I think he misses sharing mealtimes with Dusty, our cat that died five (six?) years ago. It's the only time really that Ranger and Quetta interact; otherwise he wants nothing to do with her.
It's supposed to get to 40 degrees today, though it's still only in the 20s. Feels kinda of weird outside now - it's foggy and cold, but there's a weird sense of humidity in the air. Is that possible - for it to be below freezing, but feel humid?

The vet says that she's a terrier mix.
I checked the weather app a wee bit ago, and the temp was around 60F. We're having a lot of rain tonight. From soft rain to severe rain, and back to soft rain. Sheba has been joined to my hip because she hates thunder. And even if I don't hear any thunder, or see any lightning, she knows that rain can have 'the noise,' so she wants to be close, just in case. I can't convince her I'm no protection.

7.30am and the temp is 8C. We didn't have any rain yesterday. It was strange taking Dexter for a walk without Ruby. She spent the day at the vets having her teeth descaled. She is prone to plaque build-up. We give her a Dentistix every day and that seems to slow down the buid-up. We tried brushing her teeth but it made her gums bleed. The house seemed a bit empty yesterday and Dexter kept wandering around looking for her.

It rained all day yesterday; it's still raining this morning. All the snow is gone except for the piles along driveways and the street. It's 40 degrees right now, and is supposed to get close to 50 today. I really should get out and do some of that fall-cleanup in the gardens that never got done - but only if it stops raining, although everything is already so wet from rain and melted snow, I suppose it doesn't matter; I'm going to get drenched either way.
Ah, that explains why she's so jumpy. We've never had a terrier, but every one that I've ever known has been like a dog on springs - they bounce all over the place.
Hope Ruby's back, and cheering up Dexter with her pearly white smile!

Thursday and Friday when I drove home from work, I made a mental note that after Saturday's MRI for Steppet's hip dysplasia I would take the camera around the neighborhood for some pictures - the trees were clearly at peak color and some of the combinations were a wonder to behold. I intended to share some of the pictures since really good color is rare around here. I knew I was in trouble Saturday morning when I woke up because I could hear the wind blowing. By the time we got home from the hospital the best trees were denuded and what was left was only half trees with leaves that hadn't been lost yet, but the color was sparse. Mostly is was just limbs where there used to be beauty. Ah well, maybe next time I'll get it done sooner instead of giving myself a weekend day for capturing the memories.
Until the front moved in it had been overly warm (80s) but it's definitely getting cooler now.

It's sad how fast all that beauty just 'disappears.' The colors here didn't get all that bright and beautiful, and then one day they were gone. Maybe next year.

I always think the same - one day the fall color is at its peak; the next day it is gone. We had a lot of color this fall and it was beautiful, but like where you are, it wasn't nearly as bright as it is normally.
Oddly, Mom's dogwood is still covered in leaves. Even odder, my roses are too - and the leaves are still green!
It was a beautiful day yesterday - in the high 30s, and nice and sunny; I should have waited to do all my outside work in the gardens, putting up the Christmas lights and decorations on the front porch instead of rushing to get on Monday when it was colder, windy, and dreary. Who knew though - they predicted snow for yesterday.
The snow held off during the day though; instead it fell overnight. Still snowing, though it sounds like it's mixed with icy rain or sleet now - I can see it's snowing, but I can hear the ice it hitting the side-porch metal overhang. Ting-ting-ting. It sounds like tinny bells.

The temps here are still crazy. I was up at 6am this morning and it was 11C outside. I put a sweater on to take the 'hounds' for their walk and was sweating buckets by the time I got back. It is permanently overcast and drizzly, that kind of rain you wish would make up its mind, either pour down or stop.

We had the kind of rain yesterday that you wish would either be rain or snow - not a mixture of both! The temperature dropped during the day, and the sleet/snow/rain mix froze. By the time BP got home from her college class at around 6pm, she said the roads were a sheet of ice, but thankfully she made it home safely. Unfortunately, her boyfriend's grandmother wasn't so lucky - picking up one of the younger grandkids from sport's practice at school, she slid off the road, and had to be towed out. Fortunately, there were no injuries, and her car wasn't damaged.
Though the temperature is above freezing now, there's a two-hour school delay this morning for icy road conditions.
It's supposed to be clear today, but more snow overnight is predicted.

The rain and snow the weather app was calling for changed to sleet, and now it ain't happening at all. So, I'm expecting the snow that was first called for, because a lot of times we get the first thing the weather app posted, no matter how many times they change it and then call it all off.

If anything, it's getting warmer. 13C at 7am this morning and it's still raining. Not hard to realise why more brits spend xmas abroad now.
