Please let's discuss 'bout things which may be fact or fiction. All is allowed here, speculating, discussing, every open thought is welcome, no thought, meaning or opinion is heresy...
So, let's start with a Xena character: Autolycus What do you think? Has he really lived or he is only a character made by Rob and Co?

I assumed Autolycus was based on Robin Hood. And I saw a documentary once where researchers tried to trace the roots of Robin Hood back to a real person. They decided that "Robin Hood" was actually based on several men who got into trouble with the law back in medieval times.

So was Autolycus fact or fiction? I guess that depends on whether one believes mythology to be fact. There was, of course, an Autolycus in Greek mythology: the son of Hermes who received his superior thieving abilities from his God Father, who Brando him with the "King of Thieves" moniker.
Hhmmm...was the character in the Xena series based on him? Personally, I think not. Xena's Autolycus was no son-of-a-god, nor did he have any children, (that were mentioned, anyway), as the "real" Autolycus did.
I think the writers of the show drew on names from ancient Greek history and mythology; perhaps assigning a few of those ancient personality's traits to the television show character purely for fun. Kind of a tongue-in-cheek type thing.
Cyrene, for example. In Greek mythology, Cyrene was a nymph who had an affair with Ares, which produced a child; Diomedes, I think, (not sure). I don't think though, (IMO), that Xena's mom was based on any nature dwelling divinity.
Callisto: one of Artemis' followers who was thrown up into the skies and became the Ursa Major constellation. The character did become a ursa major pain in the @ss with star-like quality, of course. So maybe.....
Nah.
Even the gods' representation in the series were shown with qualities and histories they did not possess in the actual mythological legends. Many liberties taken all around. It's part of what made the show so fun, IMO.

How about Avalon? Fact or Fiction? Where was it, does it exist or is that even a myth? I think Avalon is shrouded in myth but is really located around Glastonbury. I believe it was the first site of the Englands first catholic church (no not Roman Cathlic sense) and said to be the place Joseph of Armithea went to establish the first church after the death of christ. Myth, religon, paganism are all related, I believe.
