You put one pair of socks in the dryer...but only one comes out. I have a sack full of orphan socks. What's scarier? That some power is mysteriously absconding with single socks or that I have a sack full of them?

Hmmm... I don't think it's scary keeping a sack full of orphan socks. Someday you might lose the match to another pair, and this way you can have a backup. ;D Of course, you have to buy several pairs that are all alike if this is ever going to happen.

Yep, I've also got the bag of socks waiting to find their sole-mates. I feel an odd sense of accomplishment; quite a feet; when I take more out than I put in, actually counting and tallying up the difference.
Your problem, Mauve, in waiting in vain for them to mate may stem from your choice of bags; nothing good ever comes out of Walmart.
Hangers: boxes of them sit in my mudhall just hanging around multipying. My blood pressure rises each time I try to grab just one and end up with a tangled mess.
Where do all the good ones go? Clothes racking my brain trying to figure it out.
Pierced earrings - how do they mysteriously disappear from the jewerly box? The reason I've got two holes in one ear, and only one in the other, so I can get some use outta the ones with missing mates.

This is fun...Hope its OK to pull this topic back up...
But honestly I have never ever lost any one of my socks!
You often hear of people losing them in the dryer or the wash etc but I honestly never have lost any socks. My only problem is holes in the toes lol...
Maybe THAT is the real mystery, why am I being left out of the cosmic sock snatching? Are my socks just too stinky (or probably too cheap!) for the cosmic powers to want? What do these cosmic powers want with the socks anyways?

Hmmm, I think that you should all be appeased by the knowledge that your missing socks are doing good elsewhere - in the odd sock eutopia of oddieworld. Have a look for yourself!! www.oddieworld.com

What's even weirder, is finding one sock that you know doesn't belong to you! Aha! maybe that's it, they are metamorphising elsewhere around the world!

Don't you know that all those missing socks go into the hosezone. Ok, go ahead and groan at that it was really bad, but it's nearly 1AM here and that's the best I could do.
