I bought the complete box set, and The Assassin’s Blade was the first book in the box set, and that is how I read it, and how I will _always_ read it.

Empire of Storms & Tower of Dawn take place within the same time period. Tower of Dawn is a bit slow, and the reader will be in a rush to get to Kingdom of Ash once they finish Empire of Storms, therefore it is suggested that both books should be read together, at the same time.
