Before we move on, please allow me to get a bit long winded once again. I found this bit concerning a couple of the Wind Brothers and Anemone in a gardening book. An Anemone is a wild flower, its blossoms short lived, the petals quickly being blown away by the wind. For this reason one of its common names is the Wind Flower, (this is not they same as the cultivated Japanese anemone, which blooms in the fall).
Greek mythology tells a different story, though. Anemone was a nymph who Zephyr loved. Chloris, the Goddess of flowers, became jealous. They could have become best buds, Chloris and Anemone, I think, but the friendship never blossomed nor was cultivated, stemming from the fact that Chloris wanted Zephyr all to herself. She could have warned Anemone that Zephyr was hers and to just leaf him alone…but no, instead she changed Anemone into a flower. Sheesh, with friends like this who needs Anemones? (Sorry, old joke, but I couldn’t stop myself). Zephyr liked her better as a nymph, (and who could blame him?), and so abandoned her. She couldn’t stand on her own though because she didn’t have anemones, (streeeetch…any more knees), and turned to another brother, Boreas, the cold North Wind. She never quite warmed to the guy though. He got her petals all ruffled, which caused her to bloom to early and fade too quickly. Not enough flower power, I imagine, and it sounds like a problem for Dr. Ruth or that withered scary Sue lady on O2.

Well, as your tale winds down I must say it is all very impressive. Shew, I never knew. Actually, I have heard of Borealis, but not the others. I have to think think think about another. What did Hobson say in chat the other day....who to do, who to do....

I ran across a godly name the other day reading something. Not knowing anything about this particular god, I thought about doing the two-minute search, which of course, reminded me of here.
Being as I only had time for a one minute search, I need to go gather another minute of information or else I would feel as if I hadn't done my job properly.
Any guesses as to who this god might be? Gabbin? I'm not telling, because - shhhhh - it's a secret.
And that, btw, is a clue.

Ding, ding, ding. Right on all counts, Gabbin. Shushing, hushing, and women’s deodorant. Harpocrates, (or Harpokrates), Greek and Roman God of Silence and Secrets. And yes, librarians must take the Haprocratic Oath before being sworn in, one hand on Roget’s Thesaurus, other hand to the mouth with the index finger extended over the lips, and secretly swear to uphold the laws of shushing within the library walls.
It was actually this gesture - the finger to the lips one - that got Harpocrates his godly position – a case of one falling into one of those cool jobs in which one has no prior experience, but just happens to be in the right place at the right time. The time here, of course, was when the ancient Greeks and Romans and their gods were running around committing indiscretions at every turn, and the place was Egypt.
The Greeks saw the Egyptian god Harpa-Khruti (Horus the Child), who at the time was a small boy with his finger held to his lips. The lip thing is an Egyptian gesture that symbolizes childhood, which the Greeks mistook as a hushing gesture and assigned the boy-god the job of hushing little babies and telling people to not say a word. At this time in history, no promises of mocking birds or diamond rings were made. That came later – during the Materialistic Period and the job was taken over by Carly Simon.
More on this later when we discuss how Harpo Marx the Spot and his sorted family secrets. I’ve got clandestine errands to run. Now, now, don't be harpocritical - we all have those little secrets every now and then.
