We’ve had freeze and frost warnings the last few nights. It has felt more like Autumn, in a way. They think it will be the last of the really cold this season. May will be here in two weeks, so it should be getting pretty warm soon. And even when the days have gotten up into the 50s & 60s, the breeze has been really chilly. My throat has been killing me off and on for several weeks. It’s mostly my fault, because I haven’t been taking my 24-hour allergy pill every day. Once May gets here I should be better.

Our temperature got up to 55F yesterday, but with the lake waters still frigid, the wind made it feel much colder - the Real Feel temp was 35F. It's that "colder along the lakeshore" exception that's always thrown into the forecast, even in the summer.
My springtime allergies are starting to kick in too. I took my allergy medication...for about a week a couple of weeks ago, but then the weather turned wintry again, and I stopped taking it. I really need to start again - tonight is supposed to be in the twenties, but the rest of the week looks like it'll be in the 50s. The maples will start blooming and shedding their pollen soon, and that's when my allergies are at their worst.
Judging by what's flowering here, springtime weather is about two weeks behind schedule. The neighbor's forsythia across the street is in full bloom, and our magnolia flowers are just starting to open - those things usually happen in early April.
But the sun is shining!

It got up in the low 70s today, with sunshine, but it was still chilly outside, and I didn't turn on my a/c ... although the dog panting told me the dog was still hot.

It is flippin' cold and and very windy here. We've been covering the asparagus the last few nights, hoping to keep it from turning to mush in the colder nighttime temperatures before it's ready to pick. Each morning as the temperatures got above the 30s, I've gone out and uncovered it. I haven't uncovered it yet today, and don't think I will.
The sun is shining though....sort of.

It is 71F today, and it feels it. My house is 75F, so I turned the a/c on. The lowest nighttime temperature is 44. I’m guessing I won’t need heat the rest of this season, but, then again, Mother Nature can always change her mind.

Dang, Joxie! I turned up the heat yesterday!
Today it's 38F with a Real Feel of 29F...but it's relatively calm, and actually feels warmer to me outside than it did yesterday at 45F with a helluva wind blowing.

Yeah. After I had on my a/c a week or two ago, it turned cold again, and I needed the heat back on. Some days I can have the a/c on during the day, and the heat on at night. But May will be here soon, and that's normally when the a/c stays on.

Here, this time of year has always been my least favorite - it's cold and wet, and though it's nice to see things sprouting and greening up, it's not until mid-May or even later in May that it seems as if winter has finally given up its hold.
The extended forecast for the next week looks like highs will be in the 40s creeping into the 50s here and there, with lows in the thirties. Rain off and on.
Hopefully the sun will shine too.

The temps aren't bad, but the breeze has a chill to it. And the rain didn't help it any.

The temps are nice, but the air is still really cold. Too cool for the a/c, and too ‘warm’ for heat. Not a fun place to be in.

It's been very pretty here this past week - everything is leafing out, flowering trees are in bloom, the grass is deep green again, and the sun has been shining. Spring looks like it's finally sprung! "Looks like" and "feels like" are two different things though!
It was warm last weekend, but the week has been chilly. It's downright cold now though, and it's supposed to continue that way throughout the weekend, with freezing temperatures, and possible snow.
But the sun is still shining.

It's been glorious here in our little corner of the country. 24c today and it's been in the 20's all week. We couldn't have picked a better time to be 'exiled'.

It has been more like April here than May. Even having frost warnings for several nights. The end of next week looks to be more like May.

It was 33F yesterday morning when I got up; I'm not sure if during the night the temperature was lower, but it was below freezing at the nursery a little further north. It warmed up a bit during the day, but was still cold enough that, wearing two pairs of socks, long-johns under jeans, long-sleeved shirt, hoodie, and winter jacket, I was not at all too warm running around all day waiting on customers - in weather that would normally be too cold for many people to be shopping outside, we were swamped nonstop from opening to closing time.
We certainly didn't get as cold as they predicted last night - it was supposed to drop into the twenties. It's in the 40s now, cloudy, windy and raining. Not a pretty Mother's Day at all. LX and The BF had planned on stopping by today - we were going to do the social distancing visit thing outside, but since it's so cold and nasty, I had told them earlier in the week we'd just postpone it until the weather turned nicer - doing the corny Mom thing, by saying, "the actual day doesn't matter; any time I get to see you guys is Mother's Day."
My Mom, btw, would have been 92-years old today; it's hard to believe it's been 10 years already. Happy Birthday, Happy Mother's Day, Mom. Love you always.

It didn't get nearly as cold here as they were predicting. Highs were in the high 30s yesterday, but instead of dropping into the 20s overnight, it actually warmed up a bit - it was 43F when I woke up at 5:30, though it's dropped a couple of degrees since then. One of those times when the lake effect was beneficial - the weather report says it froze inland, but the lake kept it more temperate here, and the cold breeze kept any frost from settling.
It's a pretty morning. The sun is shining.

It has been chilly here the last few days. Too cool for the a/c, and too warm for my heat to kick on. Now it's raining, which makes the chill even worse. It won't be long though, and May will be plenty warm.

Rainy, rainy, rainy here, but it seems we have turned the corner on the lingering cold weather. Highs are supposed to be in the 60s and even into the 70s throughout the weekend and into next week.
Spring for sure!
Finally!!!!

I think I can finally put away my Winter clothes. The temps are still on the low side, but still warm. We had a bit of rain, but no severe weather. That will change next week, as thunderstorms are predicted every day next week. I have to take the dog for her haircut on the 26th, and I’m hoping I don’t have to drive in bad weather. Still can’t believe we’re in a pandemic. So strange. I’m so ready for it to be over.

Me too! It's been very warm here the past few days - mid-to-high 70s and maybe even reaching the low 80s. So weird to think that last week I was still wearing a winter jacket in the mornings when our temperatures were in the 40s and 50s, and the week before we were still had temperatures in the 30s. We had a few days of spring weather, and then instant summer it seems.
I'm off work today because I worked yesterday, normally my day off. I've got to get going in the ornamental gardens; they are getting out of control with weeds. We got our tomatoes planted this weekend, and Hubs planted bean seeds yesterday. BP and I planted a bunch of succulents into pots for her room last night - she's got a nice little indoor garden going on up there. Crazy Cheryl got me lettuce seeds and seed potatoes, and I'm hoping to see her at the nursery tomorrow - I set aside rhubarb plants and elderberry bushes for her there. Wondering since we got such a late start to things because of the weather, if we'll have a long enough growing season to even get any ripe tomatoes this year before the frost hits.
And I've got to clean out my car today - I've probably got an entire closet full of winter clothing and coats heaped on the backseat that I've gone to work in the past few weeks, and shed during the day!

My area hasn’t gotten as much rain as predicted, so the dog hasn’t been bombarded with the dreaded thunder. The days are in the 70s/80s, and the nights are in the 50s/60s. I’m grateful for the peace and quiet of rural living. Hope everyone else is safe and cozy and far from the maddening crowds.

Just a pass-through this morning to say "Hello, have a nice day."
We are still so insanely busy at work, that I don't have time for much of anything else - I go in a half hour early and stay on average an hour or more late at the end of the day, and come home completely wiped out. We just can't seem to catch up, let alone get ahead of things. The nursery looks like the grocery store did when people were hoarding in the mist of the pandemic - empty aisles everywhere, because we can't restock the plants fast enough. It's effing insane.
A co-worker and I designated Saturday after work as 'happy half-hour'; just a half-hour to wind down before going home. The two of us sit on lawn chairs he brings, social distancing and having a beer in the employee parking area that's behind a treeline out of sight from the people who are still walking around the nursery ground like zombies long after we've closed - even when the overhead irrigation comes on, they're still there. Boss lady rode her bike out where we were sitting last Saturday and handed each of us an envelope with a nice wad of cash, and started crying, thanking us for being there, working so hard through all of the craziness.
And oh - I almost had worms and dirt the other day for lunch. Grabbed a container of leftover pasta out of the fridge that I was going to take to work - and noticed holes punched in the lid. Opened it up, and WTF? Hubs had dug worms to go fishing and used my Tupperware as a container. And put them in the kitchen fridge. Bluck!

I hope everyone is staying healthy. Glad to see Boss Lady appreciates her employees. I guess people have the time on their hands to finally do the things they've been putting off. Good for business, not so much to catch a break.

I texted Boss Lady early yesterday morning, and told her to have a leisurely morning and stay home until at least 10am - I don't know how she does it, working seven days a week as busy as we are right now; I know I couldn't do it without having a couple of days off a week.
We are all hoping things will calm down starting Monday, when businesses and restaurants reopen - we've been so crazy busy, I'm sure, because people have been looking for something to do, and the nurseries and garden centers have been one of the only retail establishments (aside from grocery stores and the like) open. We've been hearing from our suppliers' truck drivers that it's the same all over the state - some garden centers even have temporarily closed or reduced their hours because they were too busy to handle the crowds. It's just all so weird!
It's cooler today than the past few days. I hope to finally get around to planting all my pots with the annual flowers I brought home weeks ago!!!

I hope she enjoyed her morning. It has been pretty warm here, but I'm still getting sore throats off and on, so the sinus weather seems to still be lingering. It's supposed to be stormy off and on during the night. I haven't heard the coyote in a long while. I'm sure they'll be back when I least expect it.

Oh-my-gosh, the pollen is bad here, and the cottonwood fluff is starting to fly. I got my car washed just the other day - the following morning, it was yellow with pollen. It's so thick on the windshield that even with the wipers and wiper fluid, it just turns into a yellow smear.
Mosquitoes are out in full force too.
It's very pleasant now, but supposed to be close to 90F today, but very windy - hoping the wind will keep the mosquitoes away. Seventies for the rest of the week - I love the 70s!

We had some heavy rain yesterday evening into the night. At 10pm, I sat on the front porch watching it for a while, until the wind kicked up enough that I started getting wet even under the porch overhang. The rain came down in sheets - the street and sidewalk looked like fast moving rivers.
It was just as hot as they predicted yesterday - I think it got into the low nineties. It wasn't as windy though - just off and on breezy. I was out in the restock area at work, gathering plants to bring up to retail - far away from customers and staff, so it was a nice chance to take off my mask in the heat, and breathe. That was short-lived though - a breeze kicked up, and the pollen in the 80 ft tall white pine windbreak literally billowed like thick yellow smoke. I quickly pulled up my mask, which probably saved me from having a sneezing fit, and later sinus headache, although my eyes started itching and watering immediately. Hopefully the rain last night cleared the pollen some!
Oh, and yesterday the accident-prone love of my life broke his hand falling off a ladder. He's in a cast up his elbow for the next 4-6 weeks. Sigh.

There was some rain last night, but it didn’t last long. Walked to the mailbox and back just now, and it feels like Autumn out there. The air is still running, probably the sun on the house. It’s getting cloudy now, and if I had some good window screens, I’d most likely have the windows open. It kind of worries me what the next three months have in store. Maybe even into the Fall months.

Well, it had to come eventually I suppose. After weeks of glorious sunshine, it rained all day yesterday. I'm not sure what the temps are. I miss my weather station at home. It tells you exactly what you need to know right where you are. I've tried these phone apps but they give such varying info. The national weather service is great, if you live in the major cities, but I don't want to know what it's like in London or Glasgow. I think I'm slowly going mad!
